Move along, it will be 5-10 years before they have one...wait a minute

I have repeatedly said...with alarm, that from the time the USA in 1944 - 45 perfected the enrichment of uranium thru UF6 diffusion, it took us several MONTHS to get enough U235 for a bomb. Despite this HISTORICAL FACT, head in the sand morons, and those who cannot accept objective reality (which apparently includes the CIA), have insisted 5-10 years is the right number for Iran.

Now today we have gas centrifuges which operate much faster than the gaseous diffusion we used at Oak Rdige. So does Iran. So we bring this 'news' to you with scant satisfaction and abundant frustration.

Iran Could Produce Nuclear Bomb in 16 Days, U.S. Says (Update2)

While they still need the uranium for the enrichment process they have secured a major element for creating the bomb. Indeed, there is no way to know if Russia is giving them the uranium. I suspect that Russia has every intension to make our life difficult.

I take these timelines with a grain of salt. The fact is, we don't really know what is going on in Iran. We also know for a fact that they have been getting help behind the scenes. This help could be a lot more "helpful" than we are aware of.

I believe Iran has "surprises" hidden behind door number 3.

All we can do, is hope that there are people in a position to know the truth, who's head never touched the sand.

And what is Syria up to lately?

No news is not good news on that front to me.

Bullshit....there is a lot you can do starting with writing your congressman and senators.

I heard this 5-6 yr timeline on Fox News and knew it wasn't accurate. Anyone with Internet connections can check the Manhattan Project timeline. And this was before anyone else had a blueprint to follow.

DS,
Believe it or not, but that's pretty much what we hear in the American media these days as well.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Epa,
This is a great post because you are pointing out that which SHOULD be obvious, but no one seems to acknowledge.

Another point, which is also obvious, but is not acknowledged is this:

People say we can't take out Iran's nukes because they are spread out and underground,

but we can assume Iran does not have enough time and money to build redundant facilities

therefore,

any facility we are able to take out, breaks the chain of the process of building nukes.

This should be OBVIOUS, but I have yet to here anyone even discuss the idea. It's always either, we can, or we can't.

I'm not too sure of that, Christine; word on the street is that there are a LOT of people feeding us some very valuable information. At least, I hope so.

My gut tells me that they are just hanging on to their old job of storing all the WMDs that Saddam wanted to ditch.

You bet, and folks, all it takes is a couple of minutes to email them. Make it short, though, because Our Leaders don't look very had at our reasons, they just use our communications as a sort of a poll - "yes" or "no" on a particular issue.

You know the expression, "If at first you don't succeed, NAG, NAG, AGAIN!"

We succeeded with Dubai, we can succeed here too!

"Anyone with Internet connections can check the Manhattan Project timeline. And this was before anyone else had a blueprint to follow."

BEAUTIFUL, AC! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! And they didn't even have the advantage of the Russians feeding them information and materiel!

"I'm pretty sure that USA and Israel are very aware of this and will bomb the hell out of Iran before they really will be able to do anything."

Yeah, a lot of us are pretty confident that this is the case; Bush hasn't denied it yet, either, in fact he says nothing is off the table.

That's in marked contrast to calling the brave citizens who try to protect our borders "vigilantes." If he didn't like the idea of nuking Iran, he would definitely say something to that effect.

Silly, silly people. It's sort of like saying that a barrier between us and Mexico wouldn't work. Silly, silly people!
