Re-reading the MSM

Plausible translation of MSM-speak by Jason Pappas

From Reuters: “The European Union has expressed concern that the confrontation between Hizbollah and Israel could spread to Syria and Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi talked with President Bashar al-Assad over the phone on Friday.”

Translation: Prodi, like everyone else, knows that Syria and Iran are behind that attacks on Israel and the Italian PM has asked Assad: “how can we help?”

“U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Thursday Syria must pressure of Hizbollah to release two soldiers it captured on Wednesday.”

Translation: I don't have a clue what I should do but I should say something.

AP writer, Karam, reports that Hezbollah leader Nasrallah says “You wanted an open war, and we are heading for an open war, we are ready for it."

Translation: We started this war because we wanted to go to war.

AP writer, Abu-Nasr says: “The fighting between Israeli forces and Islamic militants in Lebanon hasn't touched Iran or Syria yet, but many analysts think those countries were the hidden hand behind Hezbollah's capture of two Israeli soldiers.”

Translation: Only the brain-dead still don’t realize that Iran and her client state Syria are behind this.

“On Friday, French President Jacques Chirac implicitly suggested the two states might have a role in the expanding crisis, saying he has "the feeling, if not the conviction, that Hamas and Hezbollah wouldn't have taken the initiatives alone."”

Translation: Even the French can’t deny it!

“Saudi Arabia has harshly criticized Hezbollah, without naming it directly, for escalating the situation, saying "uncalculated adventures" could precipitate a new Middle East crisis.”

Translation: Saudi Arabia is worried about the growth of Iranian power and needs to support America.

The AP reports: “French President Jacques Chirac castigated the Israeli offensive into Lebanon on Friday, calling it "totally disproportionate," …”

Translation: Israel is winning and we hate it!

“Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero warned Israel it was "making a mistake" to attack Lebanon.”

Translation: Surrender!

“"In fact, the right to defense on the part of a country does not exempt it from respecting norms of international law above all for that which concerns the safety of the civilian population," said a statement by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the Vatican's No. 2 official.”

Translation: Hezbollah is not a formal army; thus they are technically civilians who can’t be killed. Or in simpler language: surrender.

AP writer, Hendawi, writes: “Israel has held Lebanese leaders responsible for Hezbollah's capture of two soldiers, but the government here says it has no real control over the guerrillas — and taking action to rein them in could tear the country apart.”

Translation: The Lebanese government is a fraud, a bunch of liars, or both.
