And with the sound of a falling leaf, Bush comes to nothing, and the democrats occupy a pinhole of gravitas

A few day ago I made the point that US policy was about to implode.

It is not imploding because of our enemies, nor is it imploding because of the american people, nor is it imploding because of the democrats.

It is imploding because George Bush is not the man.

Two years after President Bush's touted campaign for democracy in the Middle East, the State Department is now of the view on freedom that less is more when U.S. strategic interests are at stake. As a result, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has decided to make it clear to Arab, and particularly Gulf leaders, that Washington will no longer make democracy a condition for improved relations. The administration badly and immediately needs the help of Saudi Arabia to end the Sunni insurgency in Iraq. Western diplomatic sources said the U.S. hopes Riyad could convince Iraqi Sunnis to join the government of Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki and destroy Al Qaida. In return, the United States would guarantee the rights and interests of the Sunni minority in Iraq, particularly against the threats of the Shi'ite majority.

But Rice has more than suggested a U.S. payoff to Saudi rulers as well.

For american policy it is 1953.
My disgust is profound, manifest and complete.

I wonder what the difference would be if Clinton were still president?
Any?
What would Harry Truman have done embattled, assailed on all sides?
He'd have walked on the skulls of those he had fired, to find those who can get it done, and ignored all the calumny.
FDR would have smiled at the press, and done it off screen.

Bush has tolerated mediocrity and poor performance by subordinates in the name of loyalty and now his place in history will forever be MEDIOCRE and marred by what might have been.
Who will care that he was loyal towards those he hired but could not do the job?

I am sickened...read on and wonder WHAT WE ARE DOING?

It all started one fine day a bit after 9/11, when the name of the US reaction to those attacks, "Operation Infinite Justice", was renamed "Operation Enduring Freedom" so as not to offend the sensibilities of those Muslims who argued only Allah could dispense infinite justice. (Picture the Allies changing the name "Operation Overlord" to avoid offending the sentiments of Nazis arguing only Der Führer could be called Overlord.)

And it went downhill from there, to the point that non-Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan are no less threatened than before by Islamic persecution.

The current administration can be judged good only in comparison to the American Left (much as Torah commentator Rashi said about Noah: On "a righteous man in his generations" - righteous because of the state of his own generations; in Abraham's generation he would not be considered at all). But in absolute terms, Bush is as much bogged down by PC-coerced "sensitivity" as anyone else.

We still don't have good leaders.

"We still don't have good leaders."
No, we don't and I predict that one will not come forward until we have civil war in the West.
(cue doom music)
Our leaders are hostage to the whole OC/multiculti busllshit mindset and only when the domestic arena is cleaned up will we get a leader who can actually lead.
