US Naval Buildup In The Persian Gulf

From Joshua Pundit:

... the USS John C. Stennis strike group will join the USS Dwight Eisenhower aircraft carrier group and USS Boxer strike force and move into the Persian Gulf as a deterent and counterweight to Iran and Syria.

This is the second buildup of US naval, air and marine strength in the Gulf in four months. Deployment of the Stennis group puts a total of 16,000 US sailors including navy SEALS at the ready, added the marines in the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer as well as another nuclear carrier and 7 escort warships, 10 air squadrons, 2 submarines and helicopters to support amphibious landings.

It's seems to me in light of this that President George W. Bush has rejected the Baker-Hamilton Iraq Study Group’s recommendation to negotiate/bribe Iran and Syria in exchange for their help with a US exit from Iraq.

Maybe its just that he feels he has nothing left to lose, but it looks as if President Bush may actually have decided that the Iraq war is winnable that confronting Iran is the key to victory.
