Blogger Reflection Awards! I Have Been "Named"

My friend Always on Watch has included me in her list of five favorite bloggers, and she has written some very generous and kind words as to why she considers me to be among the best.

While I think that I am great

I am always surprised when others recognize my obvious talent!

And, to be perfectly honest, I am truly honored. (Enough joking, huh?)

This is one of those Meme things where we are supposed to pass it around the blogosphere. The thing is, I'm supposed to choose my "five" favorite bloggers, but the truth is, there are too many writers who are part of my daily life.

Therefore, I will name my top five, and then I will add my "Honorable Mentions", and please do not believe that they are any less important to me than the ones I name in my top five.

Anyway, this is called the Blogger Reflection Awards because the idea is for us bloggers to acknowledge the work of those who have inspired us.

So here goes.

My five favorite bloggers?

Little Green Footballs

I heard Charles on Dennis Prager's radio show in April of 2002, and that's how I got hooked into blogging. I am a jazz musician, like Charles, so I immediately recognized his slang and his attitude, and I was glad to find another ex-Liberal who understood the changes our world had undergone. Additionally, I learned about Roger Simon from Charles. Roger, also, is a kind of ex-Liberal. I am an ex-Chomskyite (which I'm sure is very hard to believe but it is true.)

Atlas Shrugs

I learned about Pamela through my friend Tom the Hamstermotor, who has unfortunately disappeared from the blogosphere (I think he fell in love.) Anyway, Pamela, is brilliant, and beautiful, and she is a lightning rod for controversy, and it is very easy to underestimate her, because she has a knack for making the complex very simple (as when she recently freaked out Tony Snow by asking him why Muqtada al-Sadr is still alive. I had, in an interview, personally asked Donald Feith the same question, but it took me about 50-60 words to pose the question and by that time he had fallen asleep and everyone was ready to kick me out of the room!)

Only geniuses have the knack for making simple things complex, and Pamela is, in my opinion, a genius.

Gates Of Vienna

Baron and Dymphna are both, in my opinion, scholars with a heart. In other words, they are people who combine immense analytical, organizational, and intellectual ability with a real empathy for human beings the world over. I love them.

Always On Watch is among my favorites for several reasons. She is a great friend and support. She is an impeccable writer, and a rigorous thinker. And, she has an incredible ability to generate conversation. To my mind, that is one of the most important traits of a successful blogger.

My fifth favorite blogger is Yaacov Ben Moshe at Breath of the Beast. He has not been at it nearly as long as the others I have named. However, he is a guy who needs to be reckoned with. He is quite the genius. Check out his writing. I'll bet you will agree.

Honorable mentions:

Wretchard at Belmont Club.

IraqWarWrong at IraqWarWrong.

ScreamingMemes at Screaming Memes.

Reliapundit at the Astute Bloggers (who I really should have included in my top five (because he is white-hot brilliant) except that I had to tell everyone about Yaacov.

Jonz at Drunken Blogging, even though he does not like me anymore and considers me to be a "Fascist."

Jonz is the inspiration behind Infidel Bloggers Alliance. I guess he feels like he created a monster, but well, I'm sorry Jonz. In my opinion, you have contributed to the futherance of the progress of Freedom in history.

As we Americans say, "You da' man."

(All emphases by Always On Watch)

From the Center for Vigilant Freedom, on August 3, 2007:

Grover Norquist’s Wednesday Group, Congressmen Blumenauer and Shays, and Senators Kennedy and Smith are trying to destroy the laws that protect us from terrorists entering the U.S., in the guise of rewriting refugee policy for friendly Iraqi translators. Their efforts are a significant and potentially deadly effort to undercut homeland security efforts.

Actually, there are two bills, one in the House and one in the Senate (H.R. 2265 and S. 1651):
Those bills are some of the most shocking anti-homeland security legislation yet suggested by the Islamist Lobby and their friends in Congress.

H.R. 2265...[is]...[a] bill that severely damages the rules keeping known terrorists from immigrating to the US.

And Grover Norquist, about whom I wrote some time ago, is pushing hard for this legislation.

You absolutely must read the article at the Center for Vigilant Freedom. Yes, I know that the article is lengthy. Fortify yourself with a cup of coffee or a brandy. Read it! Also read related articles at Refugee Resettlement Watch, especially THIS ONE. Contact your Representative and your Senators. Take action.

Chertoff's Hunch

For some time, we've known that Secretary of Homeland Security is operating on hunch that, this summer, we're in greater danger of an attack, although with the caveat of "without a lot of specifics."

On August 1, 2007, along came this story:

A new al Qaeda propaganda ad, headlined "Wait for the Big Surprise" and featuring a digitally altered photograph of President George Bush and Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf standing in front of a burning White House, was posted on the Internet today.

The brief clip from al Qaeda's "as Sahab" propaganda arm juxtaposes the doctored photo of Bush and Musharraf along with previously seen images of al Qaeda's top leadership -- Osama bin Laden, Ayman al Zawahri and Adam Gadahn -- as well as a photo of an SUV in a motorcade.

There is no additional information provided in the ad, and it closes with the words, "Soon -- God willing," written across the screen and repeated several times.

In addition, the amount of anti-terrorism dollars has just been increased for the D.C. area. From this August 1, 2007 story in the Washington Post:

The D.C. area will use a major anti-terrorism grant to upgrade its bomb squads and provide law enforcement with new intelligence analysts and computer systems -- including one dubbed "Google for cops," authorities said yesterday.

Those were among the details released by state and local officials, who met this week to carve up a recent $61.6 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The funds are a 30 percent increase over last year's award to the region...

On August 4, 2007, this story appeared in the Washington Post, on the front page, above the fold:
The Senate bowed to White House pressure last night and passed a Republican plan for overhauling the federal government's terrorist surveillance laws, approving changes that would temporarily give U.S. spy agencies expanded power to eavesdrop on foreign suspects without a court order.

The 60 to 28 vote, which was quickly denounced by civil rights and privacy advocates, came after Democrats in the House failed to win support for more modest changes that would have required closer court supervision of government surveillance. Earlier in the day, President Bush threatened to hold Congress in session into its scheduled summer recess if it did not approve the changes he wanted.

The legislation, which is expected to go before the House today [August 4], would expand the government's authority to intercept without a court order the phone calls and e-mails of people in the United States who are communicating with people overseas.

Sixteen Democrats and Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) joined all 43 Republicans in supporting the measure, which is nearly identical to a proposal prepared by the Bush administration. "We're at war. The enemy wants to attack us," Lieberman said during the Senate debate....

A few weeks ago, the Washington Post carried an item from a local reader, who noted a lot of extra heliocopter activity in the airspace over his home, situated near Andrews Air Force Base. He emphasized that he had noticed such activity only twice before, each time prior to the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Locals in the D.C. area have also recently noted frequent testings of the Emergency Broadcast System.

Put together all the above. Your conclusions?

I still think three Iraq's are the best answer

This week we were treated to the NYT publishing a story indicating we are now 'winning' in Iraq by many many measures.

This week the Iraqi parliament, in which the Sunnis WITHDREW from the executive, went on vacation until September.

Remaining unresolved as these people flew, drove and ran off ... oil revenue sharing in a nation desparing of means to make a living, and blessed with either the 2nd or 3rd most oil in the ground ON THE PLANET.

Remaining unresolved, the desertion of non muslims out of realistic fear.

Remaining unresolved, the penetration of the police by shia death squads, perhaps backed by Maliki et al. and their protection of the murderous nationalized goons of Al Sadr

Being resolved - Mass murderers from outside Iraq being stepped on as a result of American lead efforts to get with Sunnis in Al Anbar.

OUT OF THE NEWS- Kurdistan in northern Iraq, largely quiescent? The south, shia, and not in the 'mix'.

Never the less, 'we' have 'won' there (Kurdistan), find a mostly quiet Shia south, which may or may not align with Iran, and the center remains a morass of violence unless held back by a 'surge' which goes back to American 'victory' being possible only with an Iraq FLAT ON ITS BACK.

It is my judgment that the present govt of Iraq has no interest in settling those issues which would create an Iraqi nation able to function in anything like a democratic sense as we think of it.

Secure lives, pursuit of individual goals with personal rights nearly supreme, and religious freedom, with power changes peacefully occurring at normal intervals, indicated by the changing needs of the Iraqi people as a whole, are most of the things I see as 'democracy'

It is my judgment that the govt of Iraq as presently constituted sees an advantage in maintaining the present chaos..WHY is beyond me since every single one of them has a picture of the spot that their necks join their shoulders on the wall of every salafist freak's home.

It is to the advantage of the people of the USA that Kurdistan, Central and Southern Iraq be three nations, and it is to the great advantage of the welfare of the majority of people of the nation known as Iraq (an invention of the Brits, for the benefit of themselves and the Hashemites)

Sean Penn makes the grade....

It's nice when the venal, self centered, solipsoid, wrong headed turn out to be SO TRULY STUPID they end up congratulating racists. Trent Lott's people should be ALL OVER THIS ONE.

CARACAS, Venezuela - Sean Penn applauded President Hugo Chavez as the Venezuelan leader lambasted the Bush administration and demanded an end to war in Iraq.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a U.S. Jewish rights group, has accused Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez of making "anti-Semitic declarations" in a televised Christmas Eve speech.According to a transcript, Chavez said "the world has enough for all, but it turned out that some minorities, descendants of those who crucified Christ, descendants of those who threw Bolivar out of here and also crucified him in their own way in Santa Marta, there in Colombia, a minority took the world's riches for themselves."

Chavez met privately with the 46-year-old actor for two hours Thursday, praising him as being "brave" for urging Americans to impeach President Bush.

"In the name of the peoples of the world, President Bush, withdraw the troops from Iraq. Enough already with so much genocide," Chavez said before an auditorium packed with his red-clad supporters.

The Chavez Regime: Fostering Anti-Semitism and Supporting Radical Islam Introduction

This report details a number of troubling trends observable in the government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Chavez and his government-affiliated institutions have elevated their anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic rhetoric – under the guise of anti-imperialism and anti-Americanism – to dangerous new levels.

At the same time, a proliferation of anti-Jewish statements and actions by government officials, university faculty and government-sponsored media outlets has created a spillover effect into mainstream society in Venezuela, where anti-Israel rallies, anti-Semitic vandalism and vicious anti-Jewish caricatures have become all-too commonplace.

This is taking place as Chavez has taken an aggressively hostile foreign policy stance against America and the West and, by extension, the State of Israel.

Patton: Let's Make The Other Poor, Dumb Son Of A Bitch Die For His Country

I put this up two weeks ago. Pamela did too. Today, she reposted it and said, "Watch it again and again."

I agree with her.

This is the sorely needed message of our generation.

The other night on my radio show I said that we are the pre-game locker room of the Counter-Jihad.

If that is true, then George S. Patton is the Manager/Coach of the team.

Here is the rallying cry before battle.

Get ready, my friends, because as he says, "This war is necessary and inevitalbe."

We have no choice. We have to fight. So, let us figure out how to win.

“If Muslims revered cattle…” - excerpt

Alert reader Shefaly pointed me in the direction of this piece by Rod Liddle in the Sunday Times of UK “If Muslims revered cattle, Shambo would still be mooing“) re. Shambo, a bull in Wales that had tested positive for tuberculosis. Shambo was executed by lethal injection on Thursday (26th) night despite protests from the Hindu community.
A brief excerpt from Rod’s article (emphasis mine):
“…I wonder…if the members of the (Welsh) assembly would have dared to make their decision if it were Muslims rather than Hindus who chose to revere cattle?
And what would have happened if they did? By now there would be priests set alight from Jakarta to Rabat, effigies burnt, fatwas issued. Cardiff airport would be missing an international departure gate.
The assembly would probably have come up with a compromise: okay, the bull lives but it has to wear a burqa when it goes out.
I suppose Britain’s Hindus can console themselves with the thought that having their sensibilities trampled on suggests they are a community with whom the rest of us feel at ease and can thus victimise with impunity.“
Sounds eerily familiar.

What The Fuck Is Going On? Has Obama Been Eating Oysters?

When, exactly, did Barack Obama all of the sudden grow a set of nads?

(AP) Pakistan criticized U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday for saying that, if elected, he might order unilateral military strikes against terrorists hiding in this Islamic country.

Top Pakistan officials said Obama's comment was irresponsible and likely made for political gain in the race for the Democratic nomination.

My inclination on this story is to believe that what the Pakistani official said is true. I have a hard time believing that Obama really means what he said. I believe it was done for political gain. And, I believe that it was irresponsible, considering the difficult situation the Pakistani government finds itself in.

Obama is slowly, but surely, doing exactly what I expect him to do; Self-Destruct.

Oh Barack, we hardly knew ye.

UPDATED AT BOTTOM OF POST: Three Men In "Bizarre" Submersible Found Off the Coast Of New York: "Not Terrorism-Related"

Yep, everyone. Don't worry. It's a "bizarre submersible". In other words, we're talking some sort of submarine type of vehicle. And, it was floating near the Queen Mary, but

New York authorities were questioning three men found in a bizarre submersible vessel floating just off Manhattan on Friday, according to local reports.

The men were discovered early Friday near the cruise terminal in Brooklyn where the massive ocean liner The Queen Mary II is moored, ABC television reported on its website.

When asked about the incident, a police spokeswoman declined to confirm the report or provide any further information, saying only that officers were at the scene.

What the three men were doing in the vessel -- which appeared to be spherical with a circular hatch on top -- was not immediately clear.

According to ABC, there was no indication that the discovery was terror-related -- a constant fear in New York following the September 11 Al-Qaeda attacks on New York.

ABC's radio affiliate WABC reported that the vessel was equipped with oxygen tanks.

Cuz, you know, there are a lot of reasons for three men to be floating near the Queen Mary in a "bizarre submersible".

There are a lot of other explanations for this.

No, really. There are.

They are probably white racist militia members.
When I fuck up, I could just erase the post, but I don't think that would be right.
Apparently, this was, indeed, not terror-related.
I am sorry, but I am only calling the shots as I see them. I am not perfect. And, that is obvious.

Oh my god, someone pull that summer squash out of my headl

Israelis bombard Gaza -- this time with salvo of salad

JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli forces have again bombarded the Gaza Strip, but this time the "forces" were civilians and their "ammunition" a mixed salad salvo of summer vegetables, fruit and eggs, the press reported on Friday.

The real army put a quick stop to Thursday's barrage, but those behind the ad hoc artillery bombardment still got their message across.

For six years southern Israel has been the target of deadly, though usually inaccurate, homemade rockets fired by Palestinian militants. Nine people have been killed and dozens wounded, mostly in and around the town of Sderot.

"Since the government has done nothing (to stop the attacks), we decided to take things into our own hands," Yigal Tzur, who heads the self-styled Sderot Support Committee, told the Maariv daily newspaper.

So they built a launcher from piping and filled it with inflammable liquid for propulsion purposes.

Then, taking aim at the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanun close to the frontier with Israel, they opened fire -- with tomatoes, eggs, cucumbers, mangoes and even corn on the cob.

THOSE JUZE AND THEIR SUPER WEAPONS...all those tomatoes are laced with estrogen !

Friday, August 3: Our guest at the top of the hour will be Pamela Hall of Stop the Madrassa: Protecting Our Public Schools from Islamist Curricula. Ms. Hall recently appeared on the Glenn Beck Show, to name just one of the media on which she has appeared. Information about Stop the Madrassah:

STOP THE MADRASSA is a grass roots coalition of citizen groups and individuals concerned about the NYC Department of Education’s non-responsive posture regarding the creation of a new public school to teach Arabic history, culture and language: the Khalil Gibran International Academy (KGIA).

The school is projected to open soon - in September 2007 - but Mayor Bloomberg and the NY Department of Education have refused to answer the public’s questions. The community’s concerns have been dismissed and silenced by the school bureaucrats. City and state officials who are creating this special Arabic/Middle Eastern public school have either failed to properly conduct the necessary background and preparatory work to open such a school, or they are purposefully evading their legal obligations to inform the public of the status of their work....

Read more HERE.

Our guest at the bottom of the hour will be Gayle of the Dragon Lady's Den blog. Gayle is also blogmistress of the information site Liberal Lunacy.

"Al Qaeda Collapsed The Bridge"

Hmm, I'm not sure if I believe that, but, uh ...

Check it out:

Muslim mindset. According to reports on Cavuto (FOX) The Muslims believe that Allah collapsed the bridge. Such lovely savages. Apparently they see it as sign from Allah. Gives them more incentive in their minds then the surge. They will use this as a recruiting tool. Martyrs don't have funerals, they have weddings. Their perception, twin cities, twin towers.

My prayers go out to the victims and their families of this horrible tragedy.

Cultural Insanity

One of the best blogs out there is Breath Of The Beast by Yaacov Ben Moshe. Yaacov specializes in longer posts which are extremely thought-provoking.

Here's a taste of his latest:

Cultural Insanity Part II The Cultural Analog

On April 23rd 1891 the Jews of Moscow were expelled from that city and forced to resettle in the pale of settlement. It was one more pogrom added to the endemic but accelerating European anti-Semitic assault that reached its horrific climax fifty years later.

In the seventy years since my great grandfather Nathan Channen’s death, a tattered piece of paper, the remnant of an official form of Imperial Czarist Russia, has been passed down in my family. His daughter, my paternal grandmother, gave it to my father back in 1975 and a few months ago my father gave it to me. None of us ever had any idea what it was. Last week I finally got this ragged piece of paper to a good friend of mine who is a native Russian speaker. He and his wife kindly translated as much of this archaic and fragile document as they could. Here is what we have learned from that paper.

Go read the whole thing.

Israeli Scientist, doubts laser missile defense

TEL AVIV — A scientist here has questioned the feasibility of a laser-based missile defense system despite a decades-long effort by both the United States and the Soviet Union.
ABL mounted on the nose of a 747.

Laser weapons have failed to overcome atmospheric conditions to ensure reliability in the interception of enemy missiles and rockets, he said. As a result, laser weapons would be expensive and overcome by incoming missile and rocket salvos.

Israel it must be mentioned decided to reject MTHEL in favor of trying to hit Katyushas, Zelzals and others with kinetic weapons.
"Despite a huge amount of investment and development, there has been no breakthrough," Yehoshua Socol, an instructor at the Colleage of Judea and Samaria, said.
My money is on the speed of light as a kill system (especially in the desert)..just repoint your mirror and ping. Vulcan point defense for the rest.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali: My View of Islam

On holy war, apostasy and the rights of women in Islam

The undisputed definition of Islam by all her adherents is “submission to the will of Allah.” This divine will is outlined in the Koran and in the teachings and deeds of Muhammad, as recorded in the Hadith or Sunna.

While the Koran is considered to be the true, undiluted word of God revealed to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel, the Sunna carry less weight and have always been a cause for disagreement amongst Muslim scholars. Theologians of Islam have, however, reached consensus on the authority of a set of six volumes from the Sunna called the Sahih Sita, or authentic six.

On the issues of holy war (jihad), apostasy and the treatment of women, the Koran and Sunna are clear. It is the obligation of every Muslim to spread Islam to unbelievers first through dawa, or proselytizing, then through jihad, if the unbelievers refuse to convert. It is the obligation of the unbelievers to accept Islam. Exempted from this edict of conversion are the people of the book: Christians and Jews. Both peoples have a choice. They may adopt Islam and enjoy the same rights as other Muslims, or they may stick to their book and lead the life of a dhimmi (lower citizen). Legally, the rights of the dhimmi are not equal to those of a Muslim. For instance, a Muslim man may take a Jewish or Christian wife, but Jews and Christians are not allowed to marry Muslim women. If a Christian or a Jew kills a Muslim man, they should be killed immediately. In contrast, the blood of a Muslim should never be shed in recompense for the blood of Christians or Jews.

It is also the obligation of every Muslim to command virtue and forbid vice. Apostasy, the worst possible vice a Muslim can commit, should be punished by death. The punishment need not be carried out by a state, but can easily be enforced by civilians. When it is a question of Islamic law, justice is in the hands of every Muslim.

As for the treatment of women, in the Koran and more elaborately in the Sunna, Islam assigns to girls a position in the family that requires them to be docile, makes them dependent on their male relatives for money and gives dominion over their bodies to these same male kin.In Islam there is a strict hierarchy of subservience. First and foremost, all humans are required to be the slaves of Allah. In Muslim societies, all children must obey their parents. Beyond this, women and girls must obey and serve without question their male guardians and especially their husbands. This decree of marital obedience is not in any way reciprocal.

A woman in Islam is not competent and must always have a guardian. The responsibility of guardianship may pass from father to brother to uncle before a girl is married off, at which point she must answer to her husband. Marriage is typically arranged, with no choice given to the girl, and there is often an exchange of money in the process. Thus, under the religious rule of Islam, it is still common today that a woman’s rights are essentially sold to a man she may not know, and most likely does not love.

As for education of girls under Islam, there is a clear program of indoctrination of inequality. Under Islam, education is the passing on of the rules of submission to the will of Allah. Intrinsic in this “education” is the dictation of gender roles. Girls are instructed in subservience first to God, then to the family and finally to the husband. There is strict emphasis on modesty, defined by virginity. A Muslim girl is taught to guard fiercely her virginity as an expression of loyalty to her creator and to her family and husband.

This form of education hampers her chances of ever becoming self-reliant or financially independent. A woman’s lack of social equality and freedom is a direct consequence of the teachings of Islam. Under Islam, a wife must always ask her husband for permission and she must obey indefinitely. This stricture is lifted in the unique event that he asks her to forsake God, wherein she is allowed the right of disobedience. While it is true that in Islam, technically speaking, women have the right to trade and own property, the condition of total obedience to guardians makes this “freedom” hypothetical, at best.

The goal of education given to girls under Islam is the achievement of control over female sexuality. The result of this indoctrination is that Muslim girls believe legitimate and often vocally defend their position of subordination. The lengths a Muslim society will go to in the pursuit of sexual control often cross into the territory of the absurd and, by western standards, criminal. In Islam the minimum age of marriage for a girl is after her first menstruation. Muhammad was engaged to his wife Aisha when she was six years old, and he married her (had intercourse with her) when she turned nine. Millions of Muslim men across the world follow Muhammad in this deed, one of the most prominent examples being the late Ayatollah Khomeini.

Under sharia law (Islamic law), such as governs in Saudi Arabia, Iran and parts of Nigeria, the civil rights of women are dramatically reduced. Threat of violent punishment in the form of whipping and stoning makes the prospect of financial independence and sexual freedom for women all but impossible. Miraculously, even in such harsh circumstances you will find women who are relatively well educated, have some say in choosing a husband and manage to earn a living. Let us be clear that these exceptions are due to the compassion and progressiveness of families who have been influenced by the West, and not to rules derived from Islam.

In the quest for reconciliation between Muslim and western societies, it is important to recognize that Muslims are as diverse as Islam is monolithic. Islam attempts to unify more than a billion people of different geographical origins, languages, ethnicities, and cultural and educational backgrounds into one religious tribe. And while I acknowledge that generally stereotyping believers is difficult since belief is subjective, for the sake of discussion I would like to distinguish between five types of Muslims.

The first group includes those Muslims who leave the faith because they cannot reconcile it with their conscience or with modernity. This group is important for the evolution of the Islamic world because they ask the urgent and critical questions believers usually avoid. Ex-Muslims living in the west are just beginning to find their voice and to take advantage of the spiritual and social freedoms available to them.

The second group is comprised of genuine Muslim reformers, such as Irshad Manji, who acknowledge the theological out-datedness of the Koranic commands and the immorality of the prophet. They tend to emphasize the early chapters in the Koran urging goodness, generosity and spirituality. They argue that the latter chapters wherein Islam is politicized and the concepts of sharia, jihad and martyrdom are introduced should be read in the context in which they were written, some 1,400 years ago.

The third group is made up of those Muslims who support the gradual perpetuation and domination of Islam throughout the world. They use the freedoms offered in democracy to undermine social modernity and, though initially opposed to the use of violence, foresee that once the number of believers reaches a critical mass the last remnants of unbelievers may then be dealt with in violence, and sharia law may be universally implemented. Ayatollah Khomeini used this method successfully in Iran. Erdogan of Turkey is following in his footsteps. Tariq Ramadan, deeply rooted in his Muslim Brotherhood heritage, is devoted to such a program among European Muslims.

The fourth group is the most obvious and immediately threatening. In this group we find a growing number of hard-line Muslims who have defined martyrdom as their only goal. This is an army of young men whipped into a frenzy of suicidal violence by power hungry clergy. These clergy have public platforms and work with impunity from institutions untouched and often funded by national authorities.

The fifth group is largely ineffective and only threatening in their refusal to acknowledge the truth. Here we find the elite clergy who make a show of trying to reconcile Islam with modernity. They are motivated by self-preservation and have no interest in true reform. They take selective passages from the holy books to make a case for a peaceful Islam, ignoring the many passages inciting violence, such as those verses which command the death of apostates.
It is through the first two of these five groups that progress and reform will come. As for the rest, the western world would be wise to recognize the realities of Islam, a religion laid down in writing over a millennium ago with violence and oppression at its heart.

Born in Somalia and raised a devout Muslim, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an active critic of Islam, an advocate for women’s rights and a leader in the campaign to reform Islam. Her willingness to speak out and her abandonment of the Muslim faith have made her a target for violence and threat of death by Islamic extremists. She is currently a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, in Washington D.C., and is the author of the bestselling memoir "Infidel."

John Does Still Under Threat Of Law Suit

Via this posting at Little Green Footballs:

I’m informed by a reliable source that the Associated Press report we linked earlier today, that said CAIR and the flying imams had dropped their suits against anonymous passengers who reported the imams’ suspicious behavior, is not correct. Apparently the Associated Press got this wrong.

Repeat: CAIR has not dropped the “John Doe” lawsuits. They are still named.

Meanwhile, CAIR is trying to intimidate Young Americans for Freedom, where Robert Spencer is scheduled to speak today. According to this posting at The Center for Vigilant Freedom:

...[A]t no point does CAIR do what a responsible organization involved in an argument of political ideas would do, which is offer to take the stage with Spencer and debate his interpretation of Islamic theology....

Instead, CAIR rattles their sabres of legal jihad and makes demands. See this copy of the letter which the CAIR lawyer sent to Young Americans for Freedom.

How about this? We DEMAND that CAIR open their financial records--the real ones.

I used to think Obama was simply a bit naieve, now I know he is a dangerous fool

According to Obama we can't win in Iraq where there are insurgents and a civil war culled from a population of 21 million, but he wants to go on and take on the Pakistanis with 170 million?

Since we can't lick the Iraqis, lets (in the future words of the new left of left of left, no doubt moveonover.org) trigger a civil war amongst the deobandi pushtun baluchi sind malevolences we should have understood before we invaded another country that had nothing to do with 9/11?

Listen, I think we ought kill all bastards border free, but this is the Mount Everest of hypocrisy.

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Wednesday that he would possibly send troops into Pakistan to hunt down terrorists, an attempt to show strength when his chief rival has described his foreign policy skills as naive.

The Illinois senator warned Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf that he must do more to shut down terrorist operations in his country and evict foreign fighters under an Obama presidency, or Pakistan will risk a U.S. troop invasion and losing hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. military aid.

"Let me make this clear," Obama said in a speech prepared for delivery at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. "There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al-Qaida leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."

Typical MORON.

Run of the mill politician

I'm not sure who is more of a naive fool ..he and his advisors, or anyone who can swallow this emeitc brew and not gag.

Gunboat Pragmatism

Guest Editorial by Edward Cline:

Broadcast news coverage is becoming as chummy and surfacy as “Entertainment Tonight” and “Access Hollywood.” Driven by “personality” and photogenics, the kidding banter and annoying silliness of the morning and evening anchors for ABC, CBS and NBC almost makes one pine for the serious, dour days of Walter Cronkite.

Listening to the current political debates between the presidential candidates – or perhaps they should be called “personality” debates, for their political content is virtually nil – has become, to date, as deafening as a forest full of croaking tree frogs at midnight. These human tree frogs may be communicating something to each other, but not to the public’s ears.

And reading about the U.S.’s efforts to bring “peace” and “stability” to the Mideast and to Iraq is akin to being sentenced to read the entire dismal oeuvre of Franz Kafka, a special edition illustrated with etchings by Edvard Munch.

Instead of acknowledging our enemies – after first identifying them – and taking the proper military actions to neutralize or destroy them to ensure this country’s safety, our policy is has been to treat them all as potential or imagined allies, to deem them “forces of moderation” in the pursuit of peace and stability in the region, and to reward them with military hardware.

The most recent instance of this foolishness is the Bush administration’s proposed $20 billion weapons sale to Saudi Arabia and its neighboring feudal kingdoms, tyrannies, and regimes, every one of them hostile to the U.S. and to its only regional ally, Israel.

To “balance” this the U.S. is also proposing to sell about $30 billion in slightly more advanced military hardware to Israel, a country every one of our Arab “allies” would prefer to erase from existence in the name of the same Mideast “peace” and “security.”

The New York Times of July 28 reports, under the headline “U.S. Set to Offer Huge Arms Deal to Saudi Arabia”:

“The proposed package of advanced weaponry for Saudi Arabia, which includes advanced satellite-guided bombs, upgrades to its fighters and new naval vessels, has made Israel and some of its supporters in Congress nervous. Senior officials who described the package on Friday said they believed that the administration had resolved those concerns, in part by promising Israel $30.4 billion in military aid over the next decade, a significant increase over what Israel has received in the past 10 years.

“Along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are likely to receive equipment and weaponry from the arms sales under consideration, officials said. In general, the U.S. is interested in upgrading the countries’ air and missile defense systems, improving their navies and making modest improvements in their air forces.”

Ostensibly, all this aid is meant to “protect” these fiefdoms from Iranian military designs. And every one of those fiefdoms holds the U.S. hostage via their expropriated oil production. This would not be a problem, if the U.S. were not held hostage by environmentalists, who refuse to allow the development of known offshore oil reserves and the construction of new refineries.

The U.S. will “insist” that that the weaponry not be used against Israel. In the meantime, Iran is not acknowledged by the Bush administration as an enemy, either. Consider the contrast: When Nazi Germany invaded Poland and France, we did not send envoys to Berlin to plead for “peace” and “stability” in Europe. When we secured a defeated Germany and Italy, Britain did not accuse the U.S. of an “illegal occupation,” as Saudi Arabia has publicly charged the U.S.

Perhaps the most revealing sentence in this report is:

“In talks about the package, the administration has not sought specific assurances from Saudi Arabia that it would be more supportive of the American effort in Iraq as a condition of receiving the arms package, the officials said.”

That is, the U.S. will not demand that Saudi Arabia stop sending Sunni “insurgents” into Iraq to kill American troops. Also, the U.S. is “certain” that Saudi Arabia is not only financially supporting Sunni groups in Iraq, but that it is working to bring down the Shiite-dominated Iraqi government. Another Times article from July 27, “Saudis’ Role in Iraq Frustrates U.S. Officials,” reports:

“…Bush administration officials are voicing increasing anger at what they say has been Saudi Arabia’s counterproductive role in the Iraq war. They say that beyond regarding Mr. Maliki as an Iranian [or Shiite] agent, the Saudis have offered financial support to Sunni groups….Of an estimated 60 to 80 foreign fighters who enter Iraq each month, American military and intelligence officials say that nearly half are coming from Saudi Arabia and that the Saudis have not done enough to stem the flow.”

Elsewhere in the article, the Times related:

“The American officials in Iraq also say that the majority of suicide bombers in Iraq are from Saudi Arabia and that about 40 percent of all foreign fighters are Saudi. Officials said that while most of the foreign fighters came to Iraq to become suicide bombers, others arrived as bomb makers, snipers, logisticians and financiers.”

But the U.S. continues to regard Saudi Arabia as an “ally” and a “force for moderation.” Franz Kafka could not have conceived of a more existentially obscene and futile a policy.

Literary lights consider Kafka’s short story, “The Metamorphosis,” in which a man overnight turns into an insect, as his pièce de résistance. “Insects” properly characterizes the formulators and purveyors of current U.S. foreign policy, and they have been insects for at least the last half-century.

Pragmatism, after all, in the name of practicality in pursuit of a “Platonic” peace, eschews making moral judgments and taking actions based on those judgments. In the run-up to the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, pragmatism will prove to be not so “practical” after all. The current Iraqi government, created and propped up by the U.S. at the expense of American lives and treasure, on the transparent fiction that such a “stable” government will ensure America’s security, will either eventually fall from Saudi efforts, or be “co-opted” by Iran (and there is evidence that this is already the case) to threaten Israel and Saudi Arabia. Iranian “fighters” are already competing with Saudi “fighters” on many American lives they can take.

In the 19th century, Western powers, including the U.S., applied a policy of “gunboat diplomacy” to protect American and Western lives and commercial interests in countries whose governments would not protect them from killers and looters. A warship need only appear in the waters outside such a country, and the crisis would be over.

Today, we are proposing to give those renegade governments the weapons with which to threaten or destroy American lives, not only in those countries, but in the U.S. itself.

Philosopher Harry Binswanger remarked recently:

“America’s security does not require that a proper government be installed in Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc. Our security requires only that the various fanatical bands in the region know full well that the moment they raise a hint of a threat to Americans, they will be crushed. We should let Baathists, Shiites, Hamas, the PLO, Al Qada, and Hezbollah all fight each other – as long as they all know they must keep clear of America….If the Arab/Muslim populations are not culturally advanced enough to embrace the institutions of a free society, that is their problem, not ours….”

I endorse that thinking one hundred percent. We should adopt Rhett Butler’s attitude towards Scarlett O’Hara at the end of Gone with the Wind: Frankly, we shouldn’t give a damn whether or not they discover those institutions or continue to butcher each other in the name of a ghost. Just don’t point your guns on our direction – or else.

The Case for Israel

By the Anti JihadistThe Israel-Palestinian conflict continues to be a grievance, particularly for Muslims (and many Malaysians as well), and as a cause for their loathing and mistrust of the West and so-called ‘infidels’ in general. Bin Laden and countless other Islamic terrorists have used this seemingly intractable conflict to justify their various atrocities. In fact, Israel, a.k.a. the “Zionist Entity” has become something of a bogeyman and all-purpose scapegoat to be blamed for every problem in the Muslim world. Is all this hysteria justified?

Let’s consider the historical evidence....

The U.S., Saudi Arabia, And Israel

My friend Michael has been sending me a lot of information about the extensive arms deals America is making with Saudi Arabia. Let us be clear, Saudi Arabia is a despicable regime; a country whose official policy is "No Jews Allowed" within their borders.

This is a country whose very existence I oppose.

The ruling aristocracy supports Wahabbist Madrassah's and Mosques the world over. If 30% of the evil of Islam emanates from the Iranian regime, then 66% emanates from Saudi Arabia.

Those two countries are the Saruman and Sauron of the evil we face in this war.

The fact that our country is making arms deals with Saudi Arabia makes me sick to my stomach.

I suppose there could be some Machiavellian reason for it, but to be truthful, I am sick of trying to decipher the hieroglyphics of the policies of the Bush Administration. Either George Bush is a genius beyond my imagining, or he is among the biggest fools we have ever had for a President here in the United States.

We won't know until he lays all his cards on the table.

At the very least, he is playing a high wire act, the like of which has never before been seen.

All that being said, IBA, CUANAS, and the other blogs I write for, are records of our times, and therefore, I'm going to give you links. I don't have the heart to actually post this information, nor interpret it. As I said, I am sick to my stomach.

But, for those of you who do not play this shit with your emotions, as I do, here's the information:

Dore Gold says the Saudi arms deal is "problematic."

Are we getting anything in return from out "allies"?

The Saudis Are, Apparently, Our Best Friends.

Madrassa Madness

Check THIS out!

Excerpt from the above link:

Yes, those t-shirts for young girls say “Intifada NYC.” These were sold at the Arab Fair in Prospect Park on July 8.

Is this the kind of “middle eastern cultural enrichment” that Dhabah Almontaser, principal for Khalil Gibran International Academy, will bring to her students and teachers?...

If these t-shirts were designed, approved, manufactured, received, stored, brought to the Arab Fair and sold by an organization associated with the Yemeni American Association, and she [school principal Dhabah Almontaser] knew nothing of the matter (or did not disavow it if she did), then she is negligent in the extreme and should be fired, and Chancellor Klein should shut down the KGIA project.

No third choice exists.

You must read the entire article: "KGIA principal Almontaser linked directly to “Intifada NYC” t-shirts"!

Hamas TV Promotes Jihadi Bee Show For Children - YouTube Promotes

We live in a world where major mainstream media corporations are completely morally bankrupt. YouTube bans videos by people like Michelle Malkin, but then they give heavy promotion to Al Jazeera Television's promotion of the Jihadi Bee.

YouTube acts as if they wish that our civilization would cave in on them.

Hey YouTube, it's our civilization which made you motherfuckers rich. Stupid fucks.

Anyway, here's the Jihadi Bee video:

And, here is the Al Jazeera clip which YouTube is giving heavy promotion.

I'm gonna go sit in the backyard with my wife and enjoy a glass of wine. The sky is still blue here in California, and the moon is full and white. I wonder when it's slated to turn blood red.

Oh yeah, and did I forget to say, Fuck You YouTube.

Well, just in case, Fuck You Again!

A classic liberal lament

I didn't care if he was our son of a bitch I hated his freaking guts.

Somoza, Trujillo., Battista, the Shah and Mossadegh, Al Saud, Hashemite this and that, King Idris and Wheelus, symbols of the idea that transitory national interests and the short run trumped the long term interest of the people of the USA, that REAL democracy should spread wherever WE went. That our IDEALS represented the best shot for safety.

This was the antithesis of liberalism, and represented the well heeled COMPANY oriented views of John Foster Dulles and brother Allan.

Today that classical liberal view is the so called discredited credo of the so called neocons.

Today Mr. Bush and his newly constituted ISG realist, kick me in the ass, talk nice, 9/10 thinking, we know best State Dept insipidness group have convinced themselves it is a good idea over the momentary 'alliance' of sunni (i.e. as they see it OUR arabs) nations faced with the undeniably sicko Hojatieh, to sell them JDAMS and the means to deliver them. So we are going to reinforce these autocratic, backward, tribal, rumor mongers and believer regimes with weapons our finest minds have made to kill who?

Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Ahmadinejad, which scum to choose for customers

Jerusalem Post Israel is looking into reports that Russia plans to sell 250 advanced long-range Sukhoi-30 fighter jets to Iran in an unprecedented billion-dollar deal.

According to reports, in addition to the fighter jets, Teheran also plans to purchase a number of aerial fuel tankers that are compatible with the Sukhoi and capable of extending its range by thousands of kilometers. Defense officials said the Sukhoi sale would grant Iran long-range offensive capabilities.

Government officials voiced concern over the reports. They said Russia could be trying to compete with the United States, which announced over the weekend a billion-dollar arms sale to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.

I have held forth on this BEFORE .This is the Russians selling a 10 year later than F-15 design with LONG range. Now, while we are selling Jdams to the Al Saud and Al Sheikh's, and promising to maintain ISrael's edge simultaneously (F-22's, even I don't know how I feel about that yet?), the Russkies are selling long range 1st line fighters with stirke capability to the Iranians? Hey why not sell them strategic world range tankers as well?

Hey why not just bring the jewish peoples to Fargo after all and make it a sheet of glass from Morocco to the Chinese border. I mean, why wait? The outcome is OBVIOUS today, as obvious as the results of the treaties with the Islamic Emirates of Waziristan.

Pace story is the moment to distinguish what a hate crime is...

It appears that putting books in a the toilet is a hate crime. Of course, using the same book as an authority for racism and genocide remains protected speech and freedom of religion?

Stanislav Shmulevich, here is your defense...

That which proposes racism as religion
cannot be protected speech,
and that which denigrates it
is no different than denigration
of what the KKK taught.

NEW YORK (AP) _ A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday on hate-crime charges after he threw a Quran in a toilet at Pace University on two separate occasions, police said.

Stanislav Shmulevich of Brooklyn was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, both hate crimes, police said. It was unclear if he was a student at the school. A message left at the Shmulevich home was not immediately returned.

The Islamic holy book was found in a toilet at Pace's lower Manhattan campus by a teacher on Oct. 13. A student discovered another book in a toilet on Nov. 21, police said.

Muslim activists had called on Pace University to crack down on hate crimes after the incidents. As a result, the university said it would offer sensitivity training to its students.

The school was accused by Muslim students of not taking the incident seriously enough at first. Pace classified the first desecration of the holy book as an act of vandalism, but university officials later reversed themselves and referred the incident to the New York Police Department's hate crimes unit.

Put the focus where it belongs.

"The Sons of Israel in the Koran and in the Muslim Hadith Tradition," Al-Azhar Sheikh Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi explains the Jews' transformation into apes and pigs in the Koran in another way. Tantawi devotes a chapter to the various ways in which Allah punished the sons of Israel, among them changing their form.

British Muslims Don't Feel British

Oh? You don't say:

Over a third of British Asians do not feel British, a BBC poll suggests.

The research for the Asian Network discovered 38% of the UK residents of South Asian origin polled felt only slightly or not at all British. Over a third agreed that to get on in the UK they needed to be a “coconut”, a term for somebody who is “brown on the outside but white on the inside”.

Yet 84% are satisfied with life in Britain and almost half think they have more opportunities here. ...

Three-quarters feel their culture is being diluted by living in the UK and nearly half believe white people do not treat them as British.

The poll was commissioned to coincide with the BBC’s India and Pakistan ‘07 season of programmes to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1947 partition of India.

Some 12% of those polled said they considered themselves to be “coconuts”.

Despite the disturbing results, there’s not a hint in this article that the BBC thinks this might be even a teensy little problem. On the contrary; their viewpoint seems to be that British racism is the reason for a huge unassimilated Muslim population.

Reena Combo, editor of Ikonz, a monthly Asian magazine aimed at young British Asians said: “I feel British but I feel very Asian as well. Many British Asians consider themselves to be British but at home they are more in touch with their cultural and ancestral roots.”

But she agreed that some British Asians think they need to become “coconuts”.

“They feel they need to fit into society and that society looks at them in a bad way,” she added.

Who woulda thunk Muslims wouldn't feel British? I mean, for Christ's sake, it's not like they haven't already told us this before.

Iran seeks to involve its youth in high tech weapons development, nanotechnology

NICOSIA — Iran has reported achieving self-sufficiency in the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles for intelligence and combat missions.

I have doubts about this, unless we are talking about glider models with motors with cameras and IR, capable of flying a waypointed course. But you never know.

"Iran's advancement in the field of the new generation of intelligent digital equipment has been eye-catching," Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa NaIjar said.

Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Najar
Najar said the Defense Ministry intends to support student military development projects, particularly those from Sharif Technical University. He said the ministry has sought to promote the development of air defense systems and nanotechnology.

"A comprehensive and long-term look at air defense and exploitation of modern technology, particularly nanotechnology in pursuing that objective, are among the most important factors leading to ensuring an effective air defense for our country," Najar said.

Najar presided over a ceremony on July 18 that marked the final stage of a contest for UAV designers. The ceremony took place at Sharif Technical University, which has trained engineers for Iran's defense industry.

They will never beat the west on the technological side. But they have plenty of freaks wanting to achieve 72 chicks who will do anything who will use enough technology to succeed at killing soft targets filled with civilians, like the Jewish Community Centre of Buenos Aires a rime leaders of Iran remain under indictment for in Argentina.

There is a good history of Jewish and non-Jewish volunteers from a great many countries who fought in the Israeli war of Independence. One of the most interesting stories is that of the Navajo Indian named Jesse 'Tex' Slade.
Back in those close-to-prehistoric days of 1948, around 3,500 or so volunteers from Western and English-speaking countries went to fight for Israel in the War of Independence. The exact number of volunteers per country is still in some dispute, but the best estimate is that about 1,000 came from the United States with another 250 from Canada. Another 700 volunteered from South Africa, 600 from Great Britain, 250 from North Africa, 250 from Latin America, and still others from France and Belgium. There were also small contingents from Australia, the Belgium Congo, Rhodesia, Finland, and Russia. All told, there were individual volunteers from some 37 different countries.

There was even a volunteer from the Navajo Indian Nation. His name was Jesse 'Tex' Slade and he was a member of my unit. He used to go into each battle with a Navajo charm bracelet, a Cross, and a Mezuzza worn around his neck, for as he succinctly put it, "You'all just cain't be too careful with all them bombs and bullets flyin' around." At least one of those three medallions must have worked, for he survived the war without a scratch and ended up operating a dude cattle ranch in the Negev and, according to persistent rumor, rustling cattle from Jordan on the side.

Ralph Anspach, a Berkeley Economics professor and a former Fourth Troop gunner in 1948, reminded me recently that the reason Jesse gave for coming to fight for Israel and ending up in our 'democratic' unit was because of the prejudice he faced in the U.S. army during WWII. It seems that the only officer who treated him with proper respect was the captain of his infantry unit, a man named Grossman. This being the one positive experience of his military service, he became fascinated with Jews and vowed to help the Jewish State when the opportunity arose.

I gave a talk in 1995 before an ORT group in Fullerton, California on my experiences in the War of Independence, and I recounted the story of Jesse Slade and Captain Grossman. After my talk, a woman came up to me and told me that she was visiting from New York, that her maiden name was Grossman, and that Captain Grossman was almost certainly her late brother (not your everyday name for the captain of an American infantry unit), that he was a captain in the U.S. Army in Europe towards the end of WWII, and that he was the commander of a mixed infantry unit of Blacks and American Indians! Naturally, they picked a Jew to lead this multicultural group into battle!
