The Garden (Of Hell)

There are few people in this world for whose intelligence I have more respect than Baron Bodissey of Gates of Vienna.

But, guess what?

I actually got the opportunity to tell Baron something he didn't know about. (I know, I know, you're saying, "Woo-freaking-hoo, Pastorius. Who cares?" But, I'm so proud of myself.) Here's what I told him about; a writer named Paul Bowles.

Paul Bowles was a real freak, in my opinion.

He wrote stories from a perspective that Liberals love. Some of his stories seemed to express sympathy for pedophilia. He was good friends with Allen Ginsberg who was a supporter of the North American Man-Boy Love Association.

Anyway, Bowles ended up moving to Tangier, Morocco, which has a reputation as "The City of Pedophilia."

You get the picture.

So anyway, though Bowles was a freak, he was an aesthetically brilliant writer. I, myself, write fiction, so I study all the great writers I can find. Bowles came highly recommended to me by a man I admire, so I began to read him, and, well yes, he is a great writer. He wrote a book called The Sheltering Sky, which is brilliant, and was made into a movie by the legendary director Bernardo Bertolucci.

Now, here's the thing, as I said, Liberals love Paul Bowles. Here's the kind of stuff they say about Bowles:

Bowles is one of the first western writers of fiction that treats Islam equally to European society. Islam is not merely a backdrop in which his characters find fault or get ground up in (i.e., you never get the sense that Bowles is blaming the cultures themselves for the destruction of his characters, typically they are responsible, but it really isn't anybody's 'fault' per se). This is multicultural literature at its best ...

I'm sure you see where I'm going.

Anyway, I would like you to read the following story by Paul Bowles. It is called The Garden. You tell me, does this story demonstrate multiculturalism at its best?

A man who lived in a distant town in the southern country was working in his garden. Because he was poor his land was at the edge of the oasis. All in the afternoon he dug channels, and when the day was finished he went to the upper end of the garden and opened the gate that held back the water. And now the water ran in the channels to the beds of barley and the young pomegranate trees. The sky was red, and when the man saw the floor of his garden shining like jewels, he sat down on a stone to look at it. As he watched it, it grew brighter, and he thought: "There is no finer garden in the oasis."

A great happiness filled him, and he sat there a long time, and did not get home until very late. When he went into the house, his wife looked at him and saw the joy still in his eyes.

"He has found a treasure," she thought; but she said nothing.

When they sat face to face at the evening meal, the man was still remembering his garden, and it seemed to him now that he had known the happiness, never again would he be without it.

He was silent as he ate.

His wife too was silent. "He is thinking of the treasure," she said to herself. And she was angry, believing that he did not want to share his secret with her. The next morning she went to the house of an old woman and bought many herbs and powders from her. She took them home and passed several days mixing and cooking them, until she had made the medicine she wanted. Then at each meal she began to ut a little of the tseubeur into her husband's food.

It was not long before the man fell ill. For a time he went each day to his garden to work, but often when he got there, he was so weak that he could merely sit leaning against a palm tree. He had a sharp sound in his ears, and he could not follow his thoughts as they came to him. In spite of this, each day when the sun went down and he saw his garden shining red in its light, he was happy. And when he got home at night his wife could see that there was joy in his eyes.

"He has been counting the treasure," she thought, and she began to go secretly to the garden to watch him from behind the trees. When she saw that merely sat looking at the ground, she went back to the old woman and told her about it.

"You must hurry and make him talk, before he forgets where he has hidden the treasure," said the old woman.

That night the wife put a great amount of tseubeur into his food, and when they were drinking tea afterward she began to say sweet words to him. The man only smiled. She tried for a long time to make him speak, but he merely shrugged his shoulders and made motions with his hands.

The next morning while he was still asleep, she went back to the old woman and told her that the man could no longer speak.

"You have given him too much," the old woman said. "He will never tell you his secret now. The only thing for you to do is to go away quickly, before he dies."

The woman ran home. Her husband lay on the mat with his mouth open. She packed her clothing, and left the town that mornng.

For three days the man lay in a deep sleep. The fourth day when he awoke, it was as if he made a voyage to the other side of the world. He was very hungry, but all he could find in the house was a piece of dry bread. When he had eaten that, he walked to his garden at the edge of the oasis and picked many figs. Then he sat down and ate them. In his mind there was no thught of his wife, because he had forgotten her. When a neighbor came by and called to him, he answered politely, as if speaking to a stranger, and the neighbor went away perplexed.

Little by little the man grew healthy once more. He worked each day in the garden. When dusk came, after watching the sunset and the red water, he would go home and cook his dinner and sleep. He had no friends, because although men spoke to him, he did not know who they were, and he only smiled and nodded to them. Then the people in the town began to notice that he no longer went to the mosque to pray. They spoke about him among themselves, and one evening the imam went to the man's house to talk with him.

As they sat there, the Imam listened for sound of the man's wife in the house. Out of courtesy he could not mention her, but he was thinking about her and asking himself where she might be. He went away from the house full of doubts.

The man went on living his life. But the people of the town now talked of little else. They whispiered that he had killled his wife, and many of them wanted to go together and search the house for her remains. The imam spoke against this idea, saying that he would go and talk again with the man. And this timehe went all the way to the garden at the edge of the oasis, and found him there working happily with the plants and the trees. He watched him for a while, and then he walked closer and spoke a few words with him.

It was late in the afternoon. The sun was sinking in the west, and the water on the ground began to be red. Presently the man said to the Imam: "The garden is beautiful."

"Beautiful or not beautiful," said the Imam, "you should be giving thanks to Allah for allowing you to have it."

"Allah?" said the man. "Who is that? I have never heard of him. I made this garden myself. I dug every channel and planted every tree, and no one helped me. I have no debts to anyone."

The Imam had turned pale. He flung out his arm and struck the man very hard in the face. Then he went quickly out of the garden.

The man stood with his hand to his cheek. "He has gone mad," he thought, as the Imam walked away.

That night the people spoke together in the Mosque. They decided that the man could no longer live in their town. Early the next morning a great crowd of men, with the Imam going at the head of it, went out into the oasis, on its way to the man's garden.

The small boys ran ahead oof the men, and got there long before them. They hid in the bushes, and as the man worked they began to throw stones and shout insults at him. He paid no attention to them. Then a stone hit him in the back of his head and he jumped up quickly. As they ran away, one of them fell, and the man caught him. He tried to hold him still so he could ask him: "Why are you throwing stones at me?" But the boy only screamed and struggled.

And the townspeople, who were on their way, heard the screaming, and they came running to the garden. They pulled the boy away from him and began to strike the man with hoes and sickles.

When they had destroyed him, they left him there with his head lying in one of the channels, and went back to the town, giving thanks to Allah that the boy was safe.

Little by little the trees died, and very soon the garden was gone.

Only the desert was there.

Let's use the loaf in Ramadan row

by Joan Burnie

TWO Scottish NHS trusts have decided all their staff should be banned from eating at their desks during next month's Ramadan when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.

They will also be removing the vending machines and lunch trollies from their hospitals during the 30-day period.

As far as I know, all female members of staff have not been ordered to wear the veil, yet...but give it time.

This kind of heavyhanded, bending over backwards, PC nonsense does not help anyone, not least Muslims.

Being told you mustn't munch a sandwich or drink a coffee for a month in case it gets up others' noses is bound to create irritation as well as resentment.

But, if NHS Lothian and Greater Glasgow must go ahead, how about a little consistency? No one is allowed to eat chocolate during Lent for Catholics and Anglicans who're temporarily giving it up, no ham at any time, lest it offends any Jews and, indeed, vegetarianism imposed on everyone because of the Bhuddists.

Nor will there be medical cover or food at all on the Sabbath, just in case there's a Wee Free around. And, naturally, there'll be no more blood transfusions ever because that would upset the Plymouth Brethren. Ridiculous. Yup.

No one should be prevented from practising religious observances or beliefs but neither should they be imposed on others.

Besides, surely the whole point of Ramadan is to test the ability to resist temptation - which means there has to be something to resist... even a colleague's packet of salt and vinegar crisps?

Winds of War: How to Defeat Shari'a-Driven Islamist Army

Recently, David Yerushalmi wrote in the Conservative Voice how we can defeat the Islamists in Europe. It is a well thought out treatise and here are some excerpts.

To Quote:It is time to at least begin the real effort to destroy the CAPABILITY of the Jihad warriors, which in turn will eventually erode their MOTIVATION to war, die and bury their dead. While it is patently true that many are prepared to inflict murder and mayhem until the bitter end, the last struggle for Christian Europe and the effort to drive the Muslim conquerors from the Continent demonstrate that even the Shari'a faithful eventually bow to reality.”

The Question: “Is the West prepared to face this reality?”

A reminder of the stakes from Lebanon

Every once in a while the view from elsewhere is a compulsory check on what is objective and what is not.

Unfortunately, despite its enormous military acumen and capability NATO has not, even after six years, succeeded in ensuring peace and security in Afghanistan. If anything, the Taliban show deeply disturbing signs of resurgence; Waziristan in West Pakistan appears to be slipping out of Islamabad's control (which was tenuous at the best of times).

The political goals and military objectives of the global war on terrorism, whether achievable or not, appear to be increasingly irrelevant.

The failure of NATO to achieve a recognizable "victory" over radical terrorist forces will have far reaching consequences for the region from the Mediterranean to the South China Sea, especially when this happens to coincide with the inability of the sole superpower, even after four years, to win the peace in Iraq.

There are already signs of a replay of the post-Soviet development of Islamic militancy and jihad now that it is clear that NATO and the United States are unlikely to win the war on terrorism. Hizbullah's semi-conventional war last year raining thousands of short-range rockets on the Israeli population is a recent example - in spite of the skillful performance of the Israel air force.

Meanwhile, America's withdrawal of the bulk of its military forces from an Iraq on fire can only add to the two-decade-old belief that Islamic militancy and jihad can defeat even a superpower.

Pakistan, which has been playing a major role in the war in Afghanistan, contributing to its radicalization and militancy, is itself facing a defining point in its turbulent history.
Are we yet prepared to do what it takes to win a war?

The shortest route to a caliphate lies in the safety of the haven in Islamic emirate Waziristan WE have granted, and thus the ultimate overthrow of Pakistan's govt, by forces of, or sympathetic to the MMA, who will with a wink and a nod, or OVERT compliance BECOME the Taliban, and INSTANT nuclear jihadi land, like Iran, convinced of the ascendancy and power of MURDER as if it were religion.

Oh Gee! Isn't That Just Too Bad?

McClatchey reports this as if it is bad news:

U.S. actions against Iran raise war risk, many fear

WASHINGTON — As President Bush escalates the United States' confrontation with Iran across a broad front, U.S. allies in Europe and the Middle East are growing worried that the steps will achieve little, but will undercut diplomacy and increase the chances of war.

Well, for gosh sakes, what are we gonna do? (Why don't we sit around and pick at our cuticles, huh? That sounds like a plan.)

War is inevitable, my friends.

The sooner we get the show on the road, the less people will die.

Message From Pastorius
Welcome all you BNP people. Gee, I guess I ought to be happy to feel blessed with the traffic I'm getting from your website. But, guess what? I'm not!
Please, grow up, and form a political party that REALLY stands for Freedom!
The leader of the BNP, and he is your leader whether you want to admit it or not, is a Holocaust Denier, and probably a Jew-hater.
Fuck Nick Griffin, and I hope the BNP is ground into the dust of history!!!
(thanks to The Bournemouth Nationalist for pointing out that I left one of the o's out of the word Holocaust, and thanks to "Anonymous" for pointing out that I spelled his name wrong the first time)

Lest We Forget: In Memoriam Peter Fechter

Many of my non-German readers will have never heard of Peter Fechter.

Who was Peter Fechter?

Peter Fechter was a bricklayer from East Berlin. He had tried to flee from the GDR (German Democratic Republic) to the free West together with his friend Helmut Kulbeik by climbing over the Berlin Wall near Checkpoint Charlie.

When both had crossed the death strip and reached the six-foot-high barrier with barbed wire on top, border guards fired at them. Kulbeik managed to cross the Wall, Fechter was shot in the pelvis in full view of hundreds of witnesses. He fell back into the death strip where he remained in view of Western onlookers, journalists and the American military. Despite his screams for help, he received no medical assistance either from the East or the West side. The only bystander who made any effort to help Fechter was a West German policeman who dropped two first aid packages over the Wall.

According to a TIME Magazine report:
One conscience-stricken U.S. second lieutenant could stand it no longer, picked up the "hot line" telephone to Major General Albert Watson II. the U.S. commandant in West Berlin. Back came the order: "Lieutenant, you have your orders. Stand fast. Do nothing." Not knowing the reason for the Americans' inaction, an agonized crowd swirled around the command post crying: "For God's sake, go get him." When a German reporter asked why the American troops did not rescue Fechter one G.I. replied, "This is not our problem."
World War III was thus safely avoided and Peter Fechter bled to death after about an hour. Today, 45 years ago.

Was justice done after the fall of the Berlin Wall?

In March 1997, two former East German border guards, Rolf Friedrich and Erich Schreiber, faced manslaughter charges for Fechter's death. They were both convicted, and sentenced to one year's imprisonment on probation. The successor party of the SED, governing party of the East German dictatorship, can currently boast 8.4% in the German Bundestag (the federal parliament) and 6.1% in the European Parliament. In the federal states within realm of the former GDR, they clock up between 16.8% and 28.0%.

My older blog entry A Collective Psychogram may be interesting in this context as well.

The Stupidity Update

U.S. still selling banner F-14 parts sought by Iran

GERTZ : WASHINGTON — The Defense Department sold 1,400 F-14 spare parts in 2007 despite a ban on such transactions, according to a GAO report.

The Pentagon sold the parts in February in wake of its announcement of a suspension of any transfer of F-14 components.

"One country with operational F-14s, Iran, is known to be seeking these parts," Greg Kutz, managing director of special investigations for the Government Accountability Office, said. "If such parts were publicly available, it could jeopardize national security."

On Aug. 1, GAO released a report that disclosed continuing Pentagon sales of F-14 components. The Pentagon decision in January 2007 to block F-14 spare parts sales took place amid intelligence information that Iran was seeking to overhaul its F-14 fleet. The Iranian fleet was procured from the United States more than 30 years ago.

The report cited the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service, the Pentagon's surplus sales division, as responsible for the sale of F-14 spare parts. DRMS was said to have failed to update an automated control list and remove F-14 aircraft parts listed on the agency's Internet sales site.

The disclosure of the F-14 spare parts sale has alarmed members of Congress. Sen. Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat, has won House approval for legislation that would suspend sales of all F-14 parts. The bill has been pending in the Senate.

I only hope we charged as much as THESE GUYS

The Rooosians would just make a more powerful radar and 20 times as many planes

It's my judgment this is about Taiwan and EXPORT, so they can both realistically threaten takeover, and DO IT, and then the big JUST IN CASE (American naval intervention in same) ...put it together with massive increases in surface to surface missiles in the Taiwan Straits, purchase of Russian Kilo subs and Amur subs, indigenous development of their own nuclear submarines, including ballistic missile subs, Song class subs trailing American carriers undetected ....

Chinese Deploy Superior Avionics

August 17, 2007: China is touting the advanced electronics in their new J10A fighter. The J10A is using an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar. AESA systems consist of thousands of tiny radars that make it possible to track many different targets simultaneously. China claims the J10A radar can track ten targets at once, and attack four of them simultaneously (with long range missiles). China has revealed other military AESA radars recently, indicating years of intense research and development in this area.

The J10 is also Chinese made. It looks something like the American F-16, and weighs about the same (19 tons). Like the F-16, and unlike the Su-27, the J10 has only one engine. Originally, the J10 used a Russian AL-31FN engine, but China has been working for a decade to manufacture their own version of this, the WS10A.

Scandal At The D.C. Islamic Center

Back in June, I posted an article about President Bush's speech at the Islamic Center of Washington. The center was in the news again this week. From this August 16, 2007 article in the Washington Post (emphases mine):

A man charged with embezzling $430,000 from a prominent Washington mosque said in court documents filed yesterday that the mosque's director was actually paying him for rent and other expenses for the director's mistresses.

The motions were part of the defense's argument in the federal government's case against Farzad Darui, a former manager at the Islamic Center of Washington, the city's oldest mosque and a landmark on Embassy Row. Darui has been indicted for allegedly taking checks that he was supposed to use to pay the mosque's regular bills and directing them instead toward his own private businesses.

Darui's motions, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, ask that five of the seven counts against him be dismissed. The motions argue that the indictment is too vague and does not provide specific details to back up its charges, such as naming vendors and specifying which checks are being referred to.

"The indictment has been drafted in such a manner that Mr. Darui is unable intelligently to defend himself against allegations," one motion says.

The 140 pages filed by Darui's attorneys describe him as a patriot who was trying to keep extremists from seizing control of the mosque, whose board is made up largely of ambassadors from various Islamic countries. Darui says in motions that he was being pressured by Saudi funders of the center and its director, Abdullah M. Khouj, to allow in "individuals who adhered to a radical form" of Islam.

"For over 25 years Farzad Darui . . . has been dedicated to preventing radical fundamentalists from taking over Washington D.C.'s Islamic Center," one of the briefs begins.

Khouj's assistant yesterday said he declined to comment because he had not seen the new filings. A call to the center's attorney was not returned.

According to Darui's filings, the Saudi government was funneling money secretly to Khouj. The filings don't explicitly give a reason but assert a Saudi desire to control the influential mosque. The briefs say that Khouj used some of the money to pay for housing for two mistresses in apartments Darui owned and other expenses for the women, which is Darui's explanation of why checks to Darui's companies have Khouj's signature.

Calls to the Saudi Embassy went unanswered yesterday afternoon.

The center had filed a lawsuit against Darui in September, leveling similar charges of embezzlement. A federal judge dismissed that suit in December.

One could hope that the funds indeed went to support a mistress and not a Wahhabist push to control the oldest mosque in Washington, D.C. But, somehow, I doubt that outcome. After all, it is well known in counter-jihad circles that Wahhabists have funneled money into mosques throughout Western nations and, thereby, have spread Wahhabism to attendees of the mosques. Also, many imams in mosques have direct ties to Saudi and to Wahhabism. Funds supporting a mistress would be more palatable than the Wahhabist funding of mosques and would not undermine the very existence of the United States.

There was once a genocide in Armenia, and the TURKS committed it. ADL?

This story REALLY bothers me.

Millions of people died in 1915 in an Armenia ruled by the Turks....yet

THE CAMPAIGN sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to combat bigotry and celebrate diversity ("No Place for Hate") has sparked bitter resentment in Watertown, Mass., a Boston suburb whose 8,000 Armenian-Americans make up nearly 25 percent of the population. Local Armenians do not object to the initiative, rather to the group behind it, the ADL and its director, Abraham Foxman - whom they charge, correctly, with denying the ugly established legacy of the World War I era Armenian genocide.

Under the authoritarian Young Turk (Ittihadist) regime, the bulk of the Armenian population from the territories of the Ottoman Empire - some 1 million to 1.5 million Armenians - were purged by violent and lethal means, which reproduced the historic conditions of a classic Islamic jihad: deportation, enslavement, forced conversion and massacre.

I'd like to hear an OTHER side to this one, which fails to admit and act when needed based on these facts. But the actions taken in this instance are REVOLTING

Mr. Foxman maintains that dismantling a program designed to fight hatred simply because the ADL does not share what he refers to as the "Armenians' viewpoint" would be "bigoted." Moreover, Foxman and the ADL, who have spoken out in recent times against ethnic cleansing of Muslims in the Balkans and the genocide against the syncretist black African Animist-Muslims in Darfur, are, in effect, oddly "neutral" on the Armenian genocide: "We're not party to this, and I don't understand why we need to be made party."

But even this morally challenged "neutrality" is disingenuous. According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency ("Turks want genocide commission," April 23), Mr. Foxman and the ADL are lobbying against legislation recognizing the Armenian genocide in the U.S.

Who more than the ADL and the Jewish people are more ill fitted for such a hideous, unjustifiable, and indefensible thought, deed, and policy

Storm Track Disinformation: Winning Battles but Losing the War on Terror

The on-line edition of Time Magazine carries a story by Joshua Kurlantzick paying homage to Indonesia's unequalled track record in the continuing war on terrorism. Too bad they and the writer don’t have a clue as to the real conflict before them.

The article chronicles recent devastating blows dealt to home-grown and imported terror cells, citing Indonesia as "one of the world's few triumphs in fighting terrorism."

Relating how police and anti-terror units have "arrested or killed some 300 alleged militants," Indonesia has also become a front-line member on the world effort to curtail money laundering and terror, earning praise from the U.S., Great Britain and Australia along the way.

The whole thrust of the article plays up the success of treating the war as a criminal problem and totally unaware that the strategic struggle between a 21st century civilization and a 7th century one is about ideology not terrorism.

Iranians testing home built fighter based on US F-5

GERTZ:NICOSIA — Iran has reported a successful test-flight of its indigenous fighter-jet and announced plans for production beginning as early as next year.

Iranian officials said the Azarakhsh fighter-jet conducted a successful maiden test flight on Aug. 5 in the central province of Isfahan. The Azarakhsh was said to have been an Iranian variant of the U.S.-origin F-5 fighter-jet, sold to Teheran in the 1970s.

Official Photo of IRIAF "Azarkhsh" Jet Fighter
"The successful flight of the domestically manufactured fighter is a mark of our country's scientific and technical achievement," Isfahan Gov. Morteza Bakhtiari said.

The Azarakhsh, which means lightening in Farsi, was designed and produced by the Defense Ministry and the Iranian Air Force. Officials said serial production of Azarakhsh could take place in 2008.

"At a time when the United States plans to sell weapons to its allies in the region, our country's technicians have taken huge strides toward national defense self-sufficiency," Bakhtiari said.

Defense Minister Mostafa Najar said Azarakhsh would be deployed in the Iranian Air Force. Najar said Azarakhsh would play a major role in a forthcoming military exercise scheduled for over the next month.

"The Azarakhsh fighter plan is now at the stage of industrial production, and mass production will start in the future," Najar said on Aug. 6.

Najar said Iran was designing an upgraded variant of Azarakhsh. He said the platform would be tested in the near future.
The F-5 is no first line unit, but this story of home built, resdesigned jets should be viewed as a first step. Whether or not they wuill be building redesigned F-14's or SU-30's or not, 750 F-5's they have on their own UNDERGROUND assembly line will be plenty to obliterate their local enemies ALL OF WHOM SAVE ONE buy all their aircraft overseas, and when these are expended, cannot replace them quickly.

Restrictions During Ramadan

From this pdf file, dated May 4, 2007:

...In Brussels, the capital not only of Belgium but the adminstrative centre of the European Union, policemen have been enjoined by their superiors not to eat or drink anything during the day in the month of Ramadan while patrolling the predominantly Muslim area of the city, for fear of offending the population....But fear of what, exactly? Social disorder, perhaps, or fear of terrorist attack, or even of merely ideological criticism and the charge of being culturally sensitive and perhaps racist?...

Can't you just imagine the outcry if a similar enjoining had been propounded for the religious observances of any group other than Muslims?

I don't recall there ever being a similar push to force the restrictions of Ramadan upon the general population of non-Islamic nations.

Something is being tested right now. And little by little, the inroads of Islamification are being accomplished throughout the West.

When they venerate Christ as Lord, and call god Yahweh to curry our respect, and keep the peace, I'll buy the lot of you lunch.

Bishop urges Christians to call God 'Allah'

Catholic leader believes it would help ease tensions between religions

Catholic churches in the Netherlands should use the name Allah for God to ease tensions between Muslims and Christians, says a Dutch bishop.

Tiny Muskens, the bishop of Breda, told the Dutch TV program "Network" Monday night he believes God doesn't mind what he is called, Radio Netherlands Worldwide reported.

The Almighty is above such "discussion and bickering," he insisted.

He might be, but there is an aggressive movement within another religion which will siply take this as just another sign of their rightness, and ascedence and double down what they do. One can only wonder if this person has read what has needed to be read outside of his own books during his life, or if he is completely innocent. He really deserves an award for this:

Muskens points to Indonesia, where he served 30 years ago, as an example for Dutch churches. Christians in the Middle East also use the term Allah for God.

"Someone like me has prayed to Allah yang maha kuasa (Almighty God) for eight years in Indonesia and other priests for 20 or 30 years," Muskens said. "In the heart of the Eucharist, God is called Allah over there, so why can't we start doing that together?"

Indonesia, peaceful wonderful Indonesia where Jamiat al Islam IS hte ascendant part of Islam and defines for all of them, not only what is to come physically, but religiously (or you are an apostate)?

The middle east, where non muslims who are non dhimmis are called corpses? Hey, Christians are doing so well in the West Bank, where I have a feeling they have plenty of 'respect', right?

Muskens thinks it could take another 100 years, but eventually the name Allah will be used by Dutch churches, promoting rapprochement between the two religions, he said, according to Radio Netherlands.

Storm Track Appeasement: Catholic Bishop – Christians Should Start Addressing God as Allah

Just when you think the idiocy of the appeasers of Islam can’t get any worse, this appears.

Amsterdam, Aug. 14, 2007 (CWNews.com) - A Dutch Catholic bishop has suggested that Christians should refer to God as "Allah" to promote better relations with Muslims.
Hey Bishop. How about the other way around? Call on Muslims to call God, God, since he’s suppose to be the same as the Judeo-Christian God.

This letter was written by Charles Grennel and his comrades who are veterans of the Global War On Terror. Grennel is an Army Reservist who spent two years in Iraq and was a principal in putting together the first Iraq elections, January of 2005. It was written to Jill Edwards, a student at the University of Washington who did not want to honor Medal of Honor winner USMC Colonel Greg Boyington.

Ms. Edwards and other students (and faculty) do not think those who serve in the U.S. armed services are good role models.

I like this letter because I own a sheep dog. In fact, I've owned more than one. I wonder if being an anti-jihadist blogger and owning a sheepdog have something in common.

A hat tip to 'Chip'.
To: Edwards, Jill (student, UW)
Subject: Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

Miss Edwards, I read of your "student activity" regarding the proposed memorial to Col. Greg Boyington, USMC and a Medal of Honor winner. I suspect you will receive a bellyful of angry e-mails from conservative folks like me. You may be too young to appreciate fully the sacrifices of generations of servicemen and servicewomen on whose shoulders you and your fellow students stand. I forgive you for the untutored ways of youth and your naiveté.

It may be that you are, simply, a sheep. There's no dishonor in being a sheep - - as long as you know and accept what you are.

William J. Bennett, in a lecture to the United States Naval Academy November 24, 1997 said: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident." We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.

Then there are the wolves and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy. Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in his world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

Then there are sheepdogs and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf. If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen, a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath, a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the uncharted path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.

We know that the sheep live in denial, that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire alarms and fire exits throughout their kids' schools. But many of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their kid's school. Our children are thousands of times more likely to be killed or seriously injured by school violence than fire, but the sheep's only response to the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or harm their child is just too hard, and so they chose the path of denial.

The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, can not and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours.

Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn't tell them where to go, or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports, in camouflage fatigues, holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, "Baa." Until the wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog.

The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those clinging, sobbing kids off of them.

This is how the little lambs feel about their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door. Look at what happened after September 11, 2001 when the wolf pounded hard on the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently about their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Understand that there is nothing morally superior about being a sheepdog; it is just what you choose to be. Also understand that a sheepdog is a funny critter: He is always sniffing around out on the perimeter, checking the breeze, barking at things that go bump in the night, and yearning for a righteous battle. That is, the young sheepdogs yearn for a righteous battle.

The old sheepdogs are a little older and wiser, but they move to the sound of the guns when needed, right along with the young ones. Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day.

After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, "Thank God I wasn't on one of those planes." The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, "Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference." You want to be able to make a difference. There is nothing morally superior about the sheepdog, the warrior, but he does have one real advantage. Only one. And that is that he is able to survive and thrive in an environment that destroys 98 percent of the population.

There was research conducted a few years ago with individuals convicted of violent crimes. These cons were in prison for serious, predatory crimes of violence: assaults, murders and killing law enforcement officers. The vast majority said that they specifically targeted victims by body language: slumped walk, passive behavior and lack of awareness. They chose their victims like big cats do in Africa, when they select one out of the herd that is least able to protect itself. Some people may be destined to be sheep and others might be genetically primed to be wolves or sheepdogs.

But I believe that most people can choose which one they want to be, and I'm proud to say that more and more Americans are choosing to become sheepdogs. Seven months after the attack on September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer was honored in his hometown of Cranbury, New Jersey. Todd, as you recall, was the man on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania who called on his cell phone to alert an operator from United Airlines about the hijacking. When they learned of the other three passenger planes that had been used as weapons, Todd and the other passengers confronted the terrorist hijackers. In one hour, a transformation occurred among the passengers - athletes, business people and parents -- from sheep to sheepdogs and together they fought the wolves, ultimately saving an unknown number of lives on the ground.

Here is the point I like to emphasize, especially to the thousands of police officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the sheep, real sheep, are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn't have a choice.

But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision. If you want to be a sheep, then you can be a sheep and that is okay, but you must understand the price you pay. When the wolf comes, you and your loved ones are going to die if there is not a sheepdog there to protect you. If you want to be a wolf, you can be one, but the sheepdogs are going to hunt you down and you will never have rest, safety, trust or love.

But if you want to be a sheepdog and walk the warrior's path, then you must make a conscious and moral decision every day to dedicate, equip and prepare yourself to thrive in that toxic, corrosive moment when the wolf comes knocking at the door.

This business of being a sheep or a sheep dog is not a yes-no dichotomy. It is not an all-or-nothing, either-or choice. It is a matter of degrees, a continuum. On one end is an abject, head- in-the-sand-sheep and on the other end is the ultimate warrior. Few people exist completely on one end or the other. Most of us live somewhere in between. Since 9-11 almost everyone in America took a step up that continuum, away from denial. The sheep took a few steps toward accepting and appreciating their warriors, and the warriors started taking their job more seriously.

It's ok to be a sheep, but do not kick the sheep dog. Indeed, the sheepdog may just run a little harder, strive to protect a little better and be fully prepared to pay an ultimate price in battle and spirit with the sheep moving from "baa" to "thanks".

We do not call for gifts or freedoms beyond our lot. We just need a small pat on the head, a smile and a thank you to fill the emotional tank which is drained protecting the sheep. And when our number is called by "The Almighty", and day retreats into night, a small prayer before the heavens just may be in order to say thanks for letting you continue to be a sheep. And be grateful for the thousands - - millions - - of American sheepdogs who permit you the freedom to express even bad ideas.

In thanks to all the sheepdogs out there.

Storm Track Disinformation: Joke of the Week

Security spokesman for Microsoft, the Bastogne of computer security (HA!!), criticized our attempts at securing our nation from terrorism.

"The endless security measures imposed on society as a result of the "war on terror" have become overblown and intrusive, according to Microsoft Redmond senior security analyst Steve Riley.

Of course we should all listen to Microsoft who has single-handly with their sloppy code allowed writers of malicious code to infiltrate hundreds of millions of computers around the world. Microsoft is known for having security holes in their software big enough to drive hummer through.

He made the comments in a talk at day one of Tech.Ed Australia about software security. Riley also fessed up that Microsoft cocked up XP from a security perspective. "We let you down with XP," he said.

Stick with writing your bloated code, Microsoft, and stay out of the adult sandbox.

Weekly Radio Show: August 17

Listen to The Gathering Storm Radio Show, which WC and I cohost. The show broadcasts live every Friday for one hour at noon, Pacific Time.

The call-in number is (646) 915-9870.

Callers welcome!

Friday, August 17: We have two interviewees scheduled this week: (1) Ann Corcoran of Refugee Resettlement Watch and (2) Foe Hammer of Foehammer's Anvil.

Our first guest, Ann Corcoran, exposes to the light of day information relating to the immigration of Muslims to the United States. According to "About" at Refugee Resettlement Watch, this very quiet effort is that these non-profit groups bring to the US on average each year 25,000 15,000 (FY90-FY03) Muslim refugees from the Middle East, Africa, the Balkans, etc, almost completely funded by the US Government through grants and contracts to these non-government agencies.

Our second scheduled guest, who will be with us at the bottom of the hour, is Foehammer. His state-of-the-art blog carries the header "Truth, not Islam" and just below states the following: Welcome to the Anvil. You’re about to enter the fight in a way that most are too afraid to even discuss. This is not a site for the faint-hearted infidel, so if the idea of discovering the truth about Islam and the ‘Long War’ frightens you, turn back now. Otherwise, come on in and make use of the information here, participate, learn and educate. Frequenters of Jihad Watch often see Foe Hammer's fearless comments there.

If you are unable to listen live to the radio show, you can listen to recordings of the radio broadcasts later by CLICKING HERE.

Storm Track Intimidation: More of the Tolerance of Islam

We just can’t get enough examples of Muslim tolerance these days. Here’s another one.

A group of Muslim protesters in India has attacked an exiled Bangladeshi author and feminist at a book launch in the country's south.

That’s right. ATTACKED. Muslim whining is no longer good enough to silence critics.

An Imperialist Vision For Survival

I am in almost complete agreement with Erik Rush:

In 2005, I wrote a column entitled “The Case for Imperialism” which candidly espoused the United States’ responsibility to maintain global preeminence given the retrograde tribal dynamics that remain in play throughout the Middle East, Africa and much of Asia. This gave rise to a couple of articles that applied this philosophy to our southern border woes, and finally my book “Annexing Mexico: Solving the Border Problem Through Annexation and Assimilation.”

Based on certain high-profile political developments (such as the grass-roots euthanization of the Senate Immigration Bill) and the realization among increasing numbers of Americans that the popular vision for our country has been subverted by minority fringe elements whose perceptions are either profoundly myopic, borderline delusional or self-serving to the point of being evil, for the moment I have re-focused my attention to the national survival strategies I described in “The case for imperialism.”

The majority of Americans (who occupy points on a much wider economic, ethnic and sociopolitical spectrum than once believed) are beginning to realize that they have more in common with each other than the consummate political prostitutes in Congress (who, mind, are supposed to be representing them) and special interests who have moved America from constitutional republic to oligarchy, and have now set a course toward the shores of socialist paradise. The only problem is, the majority of Americans already know the oxymoronical nature of the phrase “socialist paradise.”

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States (1901–1909), was something of an enigma. One of our most memorable (and many would say one of our best) presidents, he held office during what is now known as the age of “Progressivism” (no similarity whatsoever to the modern Progressive Movement). Roosevelt, a Republican, was also a conservationist who worked toward improved race relations, regulation of big business, oversight of the food production industries, and a host of other causes now considered to be the realm of Democrats alone.

He was also an imperialist. “Speak softly and carry a big stick” is the proverb Roosevelt quoted regarding his philosophy on foreign policy. A visionary, he supported an exponential reinforcement of U.S. naval forces based on the premise that powers in the Pacific (Japan, specifically) were likely to present security problems in the future. His methods for manifesting the Panama Canal consisted of using the threat of military action against the South American nation of Colombia in order to bring about the secession of what became Panama; his support of the former disenfranchised Colombians made his subsequent bid to establish the Canal Zone and get the Canal built relatively simple, politically speaking.

Teddy Roosevelt, like most Americans at that time, did not doubt the superiority of Americans’ vision and capabilities compared to most of the rest of the world, and had no reservations in the area of doing what was necessary to establish and maintain the United States’ “biggest dog on the block” status.

The only change that has taken place vis-à-vis foreign policy has been due to the influence of fringe elements on the far Left: Global socialists and those in the media. Add to this the duplicity and insincerity of those who claim to be conservatives and we have the unenviable geopolitical position we occupy today. The American majority still believes we ought to be the biggest dog, because – as I’ve said before – we also happen to be the most even-tempered.

We are not however, the United Federation of Planets from “Star Trek” with a Prime Directive not to interfere in the development of emerging civilizations until someone sells them enough technology and armaments to threaten us. We have a moral right as a nation to neutralize people such as the aboriginal Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez before he foments a Latin American socialist revolution, Kim Jong Il of North Korea, Bashar Assad of Syria and the mullahs in Iran before they destabilize the world beyond our power to ameliorate the situation without employing our entire nuclear arsenal.

Barack Obama, one of the contenders for the Democrat nomination for President (and someone I have roundly criticized) was excoriated by the press for using harsh rhetoric on the issue of Pakistan harboring terrorists, their level of cooperation in the War on Terror, and what an American president might do to extricate some of the world’s most notorious terrorists from that nation. Although Obama’s words were all part of that delicate, half-choreographed, half-improvised dance candidates do, Americans ought to be clamoring for that sort of tough talk and more.

I believe that the American majority would stand behind a President and Congress with the fortitude to decisively cut off some key snake heads and ignore the ignorant, plaintive squealing of the media and the socialist, politically-correct fringe minority. While I maintain that Barack Obama is not the man for the job due to his party’s agenda, I also maintain that this sort of talk – reinforced with decisive action, of course – would have helped the Republicans hold Congress in 2006 and resulted in a dramatically improved approval rating for President Bush at present.

On the other hand, I don’t believe the American majority wants to see their Border Control agents charged with crimes against criminals, their soldiers charged with crimes against terrorists and the phenomena embellished by the media to ridiculous extremes in order to humiliate and demoralize. I don’t believe the American majority is overly concerned with men who tried to kill our troops sitting on ice at Gitmo, or the type of coercion techniques our intelligence agencies use on captured high-level terrorists. I don’t believe the American majority wants to see its national security agencies hamstrung at the behest of out-and-out communists. I don’t believe the American majority is sufficiently dull that they don’t see our political leaders kowtowing to untrustworthy and even treacherous foreign leaders as dangerous folly which illustrates their sympathies and weakness, and foreshadows darker times to come for America in the foreign relations arena.

I honestly believe that the American majority would stand behind a president like Teddy Roosevelt right now. He would appeal to the Right-middle, moderate, and Left-middle – in other words, the majority – of voters. I believe that deep down they know we need someone like him, despite what our enemies domestic would have us believe.

Erik Rush is a senior writer for The New Media Journal. He is a New York-born columnist, author and speaker who lives in Colorado and writes columns of sociopolitical fare for The New Media Journal as well as dozens of nationally-distributed print and online news sources. He is also a Staff Writer and Acting Associate Editor and Publisher for the New Media Alliance, Inc., a national coalition of writers, journalists and grass-roots media outlets. Erik is the veteran of numerous radio appearances and is the author of several books; his latest, “Annexing Mexico: Solving the Border Problem Through Annexation and Assimilation”, has just been released by Level 4 Press.

In The Lunchroom

[Hat-tip to Raven, who alerted me to the following article]

A little update on Muslims in the UK...

First, it's the fear of pork fumes, now this: "Doctors Give in to Muslims." Indeed! Full article, from the Daily Express (emphases mine):

DOCTORS and health workers have been banned from eating lunch at their desks - in case it offends their Muslim colleagues.

Health chiefs believe the sight of food will upset Muslim workers when they are celebrating the religious festival Ramadan.

We might irritate them !

Every once in a while we get a reminder of what a liberal really is.

One would think in their opposition to some/most/all things which SEEM republican, institutions such as Harvard, Yale, Vassar, California State University at Berkeley, Los Angeles, UCLA, San Francisco State, would represent the epitome of this word in thought and deed, certainly in their own minds.

Instead, however, they have come to represent in deed, and in thought, and in image something far different. CALUMNY. IGNOMINY. FEEBLENESS in the face of agressive action.

Enter the estimable, Phyllis Chesler, once an 'Afghan Housewife', always a 'feminazi' to some, I suppose, and now, a (proudly) semi shunned owner of REVELATIONS deemed to be problematic. From Frontpage today:

Cambridge University Press not only recalls but has promised to pulp the book that authoritatively documents one Saudi billionaire's funding of terror; many anti-jihadic writers and all our leading mainstream media have privately apologized to this same billionaire. Only Rachel Ehrenfeld has refused to "apologize" for telling the truth and has counter-sued him in an American court of law based on her First Amendment right to tell the truth. (She was initially sued in London where she lost by default; she chose not to appear in court).

At a recent conference in Los Angeles, sponsored by the American Freedom Alliance, Daniel Pipes announced his intention to start a legal defense bail fund for those who are sued by Islamists and their Western apologists for telling the truth. Not a moment too soon--although, regrettably, perhaps too late for Ehrenfeld. And, The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has begun a process of legal intimidation against my esteemed colleague, Robert Spencer. Accordingly, David Horowitz has launched a legal defense fund for Spencer. I have pledged money to this and advise us all to do the same.

Before this war is over, we will each need legal defense funds. And that's if we're lucky. Those in the Islamic East need bodyguards and air-lifts to safety in the West. But there is a pattern emerging in the West which we ignore at our own peril.

For example, a leading American publisher of law enforcement and counter-terrorism titles cancelled Dr. Nancy Kobrin's book about Islamic suicide terrorism. I wrote the Introduction for it and together Dr. Kobrin and I "went public." A number of other publishers emerged--but they quickly disappeared too.

I have been trying to find a publisher for a book titled The Islamification of America and guess what? No takers so far. I am ready to self-publish the work.

What's going on?

Well in the words of Lynne Olson's wonderful history ..when Churchill, at that time just a minister inquired about actually attacking the Germans after Poland was invaded and war had been declared, he was told 'attacking the Germans would be unprofitable'.

So it is today. Our Neville Chamberlain-ized keepers of the flame are so wedded to non-risk, and bringing these people whose PURPOSE is the denial of freedom 'around', they have missed the real risk. They serve neither the idea of free thought, freedom of speech, personal expression, truth or themselves, let alone the nation whose freedom and liberal democracy they benefit from every single day, OR it's people.

There is no escaping the dance Universities and publishers. That's all there is to GET

Geez, what did we have to do? Hit this guy over the head with a 40 oz. clue stick to make him realize he has a big, fucking problem on his hands?

Iraqi PM calls for crisis summit

Iraq's Prime Minister, Nouri Maliki, has called for a summit of the nation's main political factions in an attempt to break Iraq's political paralysis.

In recent weeks almost all Sunni members of the cabinet have quit. Others are boycotting meetings, leaving at least 17 cabinet seats empty.

Many of them have accused Mr Maliki of sidelining them.

A BBC correspondent says the crisis is worrying for the US, which wants to see progress before withdrawing troops.

"I have called the political leaders for a meeting to discuss the main issues in the political process. The first meeting may happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," Mr Maliki announced on Sunday.

Ah, for the good old days, Russia's Norman Rockwell yearnings

August 11, 2007: The government is issuing new high school history books that downplay the mass murders (over 25 million dead) carried out during the quarter century that Josef Stalin ran the country. Stalin is now being portrayed as a "strong and successful" leader. Between Stalin and the German invasion, about a third of the Russian population was killed off during Stalin's rule. There was much relief, and remorse, in Russia when Stalin died in 1953. But with the end of the Cold War, and the collapse of the Soviet (and Russian) empire (built up over the previous three centuries), there is much nostalgia for the mythical good old days. The current government is playing into that.

What freaking morons.

What is the logical end point to reviving Stalin as a hero in the Rodina?

Al Qaeda's Camps Have Emptied (Plus Video)

It's a beautiful Sunday morning here in the Washington, D.C. area, but I'm taking time to post this link, with the full article below (links in the original). Decide for yourself what the story means.

Pakistan: Concern over nukes as al Qaeda camps empty

US intelligence investigates Pakistan's nuclear security and the military’s loyalty to Musharraf as the Northwest Frontier Province spins further out of control

As the security situation in the Northwest Frontier Province continues to deteriorate and President Pervez Musharraf's political stock continues to drop, the US military intelligence community is "urgently assessing how secure Pakistan's nuclear weapons would be in the event President Gen. Pervez Musharraf were replaced." Meanwhile, the Taliban and al Qaeda have dispersed operatives from the training camps in the Northwest Frontier Province and are preparing to fight on their own terms.

With the Pakistani government facing a robust Taliban insurgency in the Northwest Frontier Province, a significant al Qaeda presence inside the country and a violent cadre of homegrown Islamist extremists, the security of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal has taken on an elevated importance. The US intelligence community believes it has a handle on the location of Pakistan’s nuclear warhead, but there are questions over who controls the launch codes in the event of Musharraf’s passing.

The US is also looking past the issue of the security of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. The loyalty of the conventional Pakistani military to President Musharraf is in question, according to CNN. "Musharraf controls the loyalty of the commanders and senior officials in charge of the nuclear program, but those loyalties could shift at any point," CNN reported on August 10. "There is also a growing understanding according to the U.S. analysis that Musharraf's control over the military remains limited to certain top commanders and units, raising worries about whether he can maintain control over the long term."

On the same day of the release of news on concerns over the security of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal and the loyalty of the Pakistani military, the Asia Times' Syed Saleem Shahzad reported al Qaeda and Taliban camps in North and South Waziristan have emptied, the Taliban and al Qaeda are expanding into the settled districts of the Northwest Frontier Province, and are reorganizing in both Afghanistan and Pakistan for a major fight.

The Fourth Rail interviewed a senior US military intelligence official and a US military officer, both of whom are familiar with the situation in the Northwest Frontier Province and wish to remain anonymous. The sources confirmed Mr. Shahzad's information concerning the al Qaeda and Taliban camps in North Waziristan and the Taliban’s reorganization is accurate. Both sources are particularly concerned about the implications of the emptying of the camps.

Mr. Shahzad reported there were 29 al Qaeda and Taliban camps in North and South Waziristan, and all but one "have been dismantled, apart from one run by hardline Islamist Mullah Abdul Khaliq." [Note: on October 4, 2006, The Fourth Rail reported "there are over 20 al Qaeda and Taliban run training camps currently in operation in North and South Waziristan."] While The Fourth Rail sources verify the camps' existence, they noted the camps have not been dismantled and the infrastructure is still in place. "The physical infrastructure (camps and the like) still exist, they haven't been dismantled. They've just been abandoned or are being operated by skeleton crews," the senior military intelligence source said, while noting "the Khaliq camp is only churning out Taliban, not al Qaeda."

The al Qaeda and Taliban personnel abandoned the 28 camps after "the US had presented Islamabad with a dossier detailing the location of the bases as advance information on likely US targets," Mr. Shahzad reported. "All other leading Taliban commanders, including Sirajuddin Haqqani, Gul Bahadur, Baitullah Mehsud and Haji Omar, have disappeared,” said Mr. Shahzad.

"Similarly, the top echelons of the Arab community that was holed up in North Waziristan has also gone," reported Mr. Shahzad. Pakistan's military and intelligence agencies are believed to have leaked information to the Taliban and al Qaeda in the past, and appears to have done so again.

The emptying of the camps is a cause for great concern in the military and intelligence communities. "We don't know where they went to or who was in the camps," the military officer told The Fourth Rail. "They are well trained, these aren't your entry level jihadis. They are dangerous."

"This is one of the reasons that we are worried about a major CONUS [Continental United States] attack," the senior military intelligence source told The Fourth Rail, noting the recent influx of news of terror cells attempting to penetrate the US. "If they evacuated their bases, they almost certainly did so out of fear of more than just the Pakistani army."

Mr. Shahzad also reported Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaeda's second in command, along with the Shura Majlis, is currently based out of the village of Jani Khel village in the settled district of Bannu. Sirajuddin Haqqani and the Taliban Shura are operating in the eastern Afghan provinces of Khost and Gardez.

A spillover of al-Qaeda's presence in Jani Khel is likely to spread to Karak, Kohat, Tank, Laki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan in Pakistan. Kohat in NWFP is tipped to become a central city in the upcoming battle, as the office of the Pakistani Garrison commanding officer is there and all operations will be directed through this area. In addition, Kohat is directly linked with a US airfield in Khost for supplies and logistics.
A second war corridor is expected to be in the Waziristans, the Khyber Agency, the Kurram Agency, Bajaur Agency, Dir, Mohmand Agency and Chitral in Pakistan and Nanagarhar, Kunar and Nooristan in Afghanistan.

The Fourth Rail has repeatedly identified Bannu, Kohat, Tank, Laki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber, Kurram, Dir and Mohmand as Taliban controlled or influenced territory over the course of the past two years.

Quetta. Satellite Town is in the southwest corner.

According to Mr. Shahzad, the Afghan Taliban has reorganized its leadership and devolved its command structure away from senior, regional leaders to local leaders after the death of senior Taliban commanders Mullah Akhtar Usmani and Mullah Dadullah Akhund. The Taliban leadership has been decimated by NATO and Afghan strikes in southern Afghanistan over the past year, and have regrouped in Satellite Town in Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan. Quetta has long been identified as a Taliban command hub. Pakistani security forces captured Mullah Obaidullah Akhund, a former Defense Minister and member of the Shura Majlis, in a hotel in Quetta.

According to the senior US military intelligence source, senior Taliban leaders are hesitant to enter southern Afghanistan due to NATO successes against the Taliban command structure, and have devolved control to the regional commanders out of necessity.

Mr. Shahzad postulates the Pakistani military will move in force into the Northwest Frontier Province after the Pakistan-Afghanistan tribal jirga concludes. But the existing evidence does not support this theory at this time. While the Pakistani government claims it has moved additional forces into the tribal areas, these troops have been subjected to brutal suicide attacks, roadside bombs, ambushes, and mortar and rocket attacks. Over 200 military personnel have been killed since mid-July, while the Pakistani military’s previous foray into North and South Waziristan from 2004 to 2006 resulted in upward of 3,000 soldiers killed. The Pakistani military has done little other than press for more negotiations with the Taliban while conducting retaliatory strikes, largely using artillery and air power.

On August 10, 16 Pakistani troops were kidnapped in South Waziristan. Yet Pakistani military spokesman Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad confirmed the military is still in a defensive posture, reacting to attacks. "There is no planned operation going on in North Waziristan but we are responding with greater force against militant attacks on security forces now," said Arshad.

Also, the end of the summer is approaching and the Pakistani military has yet to launch the purported campaign. Winter is fast approaching in some of the most inhospitable terrain on the planet, where al Qaeda and the Taliban are dug in and have deep ties with the local residents. The ideal time for the military to launch operations would have been the spring, leaving the summer open to conduct a campaign that will be difficult and bloody enough without battling the terrain and elements.

HAMAS inspired Islamists in Jordan look to emulate GAZA victory

From Gertz again, whose stories should be widely published, not hidden behind a subscription.

The pro-Al Qaida Islamic movement in Jordan has decided to target the U.S. presence in Jordan. The Islamic opposition charges the United States is pulling the strings of the Hashemite kingdom.

In unprecedented accusations, the Islamic Action Front accused the United States of masterminding Amman's crackdown on Jordan's Islamic movement. IAF said Jordan was part of a U.S. plan to target the Islamic movements in the region by rigging elections, including the Aug. 1 municipal elections in the kingdom.

"The robbery of the Jordanian people's will on Aug. 1 confirms the existence of a U.S. 'Dayton' scheme that targets the Islamic movement in Jordan," IAF secretary-general Zaki Bani Ershaid said.

Why don't we GET this all yet?

The world is filled with anti americanism. In the mid east and the muslim world this is compounded because to them, WE ARE THE JEWS, and have been successfully portrayed as such by Qutb, et al, and explains why anyone who 'stands up' to us becomes so popular, no matter how reprehensible.

Today, this is as winning a political position for the muslim masses as being a democrat in 1932 in the USA. This puts HAMAS, and all Islamists, including the Khomeinists in the ascendancy.

Real shock update..HAMAS winning, FATAH losing again, DUH...why bother?

I keep saying it, I will keep on saying it, dedicated religious racist murderers with heartfelt social programs and education, and a firm beleif they are doing god's work, will utterly defeat mafioso racist murderers who would rather operate a spoils system and shop in Paris EVERY SINGLE TIME, and the mafioso should receive NO SUPPORT. The idea that they can be 'negotiatied with' besides being a delusion should pale beside the fairly OBVIOUS outcome of a protracted battle between the two.

GERTZ : Hamas winning the intelligence war with Fatah in the West Bank

TEL AVIV — Hamas has been fighting a silent war with the ruling Fatah movement in the West Bank.

Israeli intelligence sources said Hamas has formed an underground force that was assaulting Fatah officials and their installations in the West Bank. The sources said Hamas has been targeting the homes and offices of Fatah politicians and commanders.

"Hamas has been on the offensive and Fatah is on the defensive," a senior intelligence source said. "Fatah is showing the same signs of fatigue that we saw in early 2007 in the Gaza Strip."

Let me posit a reason(s) - besides knowing in their heart FATAH is simply a corruptocracy with roots in the 19th and early 20th century's stupidities, some of the footsoldiers of FATAH have great sympathy for the religious fervor and real feeling of HAMAS's genocidal killers, who actually are sincere in the desire to see Islam supreme as both the means and the end, and will acutally KILL the jews if they can, something near and dear to all their hearts.

The sources said the Hamas campaign has continued despite the arrest of some 300 Hamas operatives by forces loyal to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. The detained Hamas operatives were deemed low-level who enabled Hamas commanders to go underground.
