Walid Phares On The NIE Report

[Hat-tip to Elmer's Brother, who told me about Phares' analysis]

The concluding portion of "Misestimating Iran's Nuclear Strategies," by Dr. Walid Phares:
Tehran played it very wisely and outmaneuvered its enemies in the West; it got away with the missiles, which are now advanced and deployed. Hence all that the Khomeinists need to achieve by the end of 2007, as their delivery systems are developed, is a conclusion in Washington that will deter it from acting against the nukes, the fusion centers, the launching ramps and other types of deployment. The NIE report has paved the way for that decision.

By cleverly convincing the American intelligence community and the public that Tehran had already abandoned the whole nuclear strategy in 2003, Iran has delegitimized America’s ability to act against the missiles. Hence the field is wide open for the secret nuclear program to accelerate, as the delivery system is being completed. By the time America discovers it has been duped, the nukes will be sitting on top of the missiles. All the Jihadi strategic planners had to do was to use America’s political systems against itself. Hence, because the NIE analysts failed to provide the global context of the Iranian strategy and have been pressing for a political agenda over national security priorities, Iran’s Khomeinists are winning, regardless of who will occupy the White House in January 2008.

Our next President will be faced with security crises by far more dramatic and formidable than any challenges we’ve witnessed since 9/11: Iranian missiles with Jihadi bombs aimed at two thirds of the world.
Read Dr. Phares' entire analysis to see how he drew the above conclusions.

Winds of War: Seeing the Threat of Islam is Not New

If you take a short romp through history you’ll see the realization that Islam is a threat to civilization is not new. Check out these quotes.

Lord Tebbit

"The Muslim religion is so unreformed since it was created that nowhere in the Muslim world has there been any real advance in science, or art or literature, or technology in the last 500 years"

Vernon Richards

"The true Islamic concept of peace goes something like this: "Peace comes through submission to Muhammad and his concept of Allah" (i.e. Islam). As such the Islamic concept of peace, meaning making the whole world Muslim, is actually a mandate for war. It was inevitable and unavoidable that the conflict would eventually reach our borders, and so it has."

No surprises, China>>Iran, North Korea>>Hizballah

U.S. report: North Korea apparently supplying Iran-backed group
WASHINGTON — The United States believes North Korea has become a major supplier to the Iranian-sponsored Hizbullah. The U.S. Congress raised the prospect that North Korea was providing weapons, technical assistance and military training to Hizbullah. The Congressional Research Service cited reputable sources that Pyongyang equipped Hizbullah with missiles and rockets used during the war against Israel in 2006.

CRS, which provides independent analysis to Congress, discussed the purported North Korean aid to Hizbullah amid plans by the Bush administration to remove Pyongyang from the State Department list of terrorist sponsors.

Thumbnail image for bozoUSA_420w.jpg

"Questions about the credibility of the claim are relevant in view of the appearance of reports from reputable sources that North Korea has provided arms and possibly training to Hizbullah in Lebanon and the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka," the CRS report said.

Pyongyang was also said to have helped install hundreds of remote-controlled underground 122 mm Katyusha rocket launchers throughout southern Lebanon. The network enabled Hizbullah to elevate a Katyusha launcher from a bunker via hydraulic lift, fire a salvo of rockets and then return underground.

"This significantly improved Hizbullah's ability to fight the Israelis," CRS said.

Hizbullah has been on the State Department list of terrorist organizations. The State Department has asserted that North Korea ended its sponsorship of terrorist groups more than 20 years ago.

These State Dept weenies just seem to pop up, every time people who wish us ill need a break.

China supplied the technology for Iran's first solid-fuel missile

JERUSALEM — Iran has developed its first intermediate-range solid-fuel ballistic missile. Israeli intelligence sources said Iran has developed a solid-fuel missile with a range of 2,000 kilometers.

The intelligence sources said Iran acquired solid-fuel technology from China. In 2002, Iran developed the Fateh-110 single-stage solid-propellant, surface-to-surface missile with a range of 200 kilometers Iran has also reported the development of a supercomputer for dual-use applications. The semi-official Fars News Agency reported that the computer contained 216 AMD processors and a "theoretical peak performance of 860 gig-flops."

The sources said the Ashoura missile, similar in range to the Shihab-3, would enable Iran to rapidly prepare an attack against Israel.

"This is a major development and exceeds the achievement of Shihab-3," an intelligence source said.

The sources said the liquid-fuel Shihab-3 required up to 14 hours of launch preparations. In contrast, Ashoura could be stored with its solid fuel and taken directly from the warehouse to the launcher.

And here I was blaming the russkies with the BM-25

How to win friends and influence people, courtesy of the US Intelligence Community

Gulf intelligence sees NIE as signaling either U.S. betrayal or ignorance

The new National Intelligence Estimate has not infuriated anybody more than the Saudis and Kuwaitis.

Funny I thought the Israelis looked pretty pissed off.

The NIE assertion that Iran has halted its quest for nuclear weapons in 2003 has struck the Gulf Cooperation Council states as more than ridiculous. The U.S. allies regard the document as a sea change in the U.S. commitment to the region.

Oh, so we didn't kiss off Israel in order to make friends with the salafis. THEN WHO DID WE KISS OFF ISRAEL FOR?

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, 2nd left, is greeted by his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, 2nd right, in Moscow on Dec. 13. AFP/Maxim Marmur
Over the last week, the American intelligence community has been termed "stupid" to unprintable adjectives by Saudi intelligence officials.

At best, Saudi intelligence believes that the CIA has fallen hook, line and sinker for an Iranian disinformation campaign. At worst, the Saudis believe the Bush administration has abandoned them.

The Saudis don't claim to be better than the Americans in intelligence. But here is what they do know: For years, Teheran has studied U.S. intelligence and determined that its weakness was its over-reliance on electronic surveillance and paucity of human intelligence. The Saudis also knew that Iran, through help from North Korea and China, became masters of disinformation — or the idea of planting false information that would be embraced by an enemy intelligence service.

The conclusion of the Saudis is that the CIA fell for an Iranian disinformation campaign that Teheran had long ago stopped the development of nuclear weapons. But even so, the Saudis have been stunned that Langley would ignore Iran's missile program, terrorism program, safe haven for Al Qaida and infiltration of Iraq and Lebanon.

Privately, the Saudis have given one word of advice to the Bush administration: Either stop Iran now militarily or there will be a nuclear war in the Gulf that will destroy everybody. The message has been that a nuclear Iran could be soon followed by a nuclear Saudi Arabia.

Say, about that surge working and EFP and IED supplies being choked off by Iran.....I have a small question.

Ugliness Behind the Burqa

John Palubiski comments on the honor killing in Canada:

This murder is an outrage, not because it was committed by the girl's father, but rather because it is clearly motivated by sick, perverse religious impulses.

segacs replies:

*Shakes head sadly*.

So crosses and pendants are okay because they represent "civil society", but hijabs are not because they represent "sick, perverse impulses"?

I don't even know where to start...

Let me start with the "logic" behind the burqa. And by burqa I mean the clothing which cloaks the entire body except perhaps the hands and eyes.

Ask Imam:

According to the Shari’ah, it is incumbent upon a Muslim female to fully cover herself in front of Ghayr Mahram men besides her hands and feet. If any part of her body, be it even a strand of hair is exposed in front of non-Mahram men, she will be sinful for exposing her Satar / Awrah, and will unfortunately earn the curse and wrath of Allah.

Also, a curious reason given for the burqa is that it liberates women from being looked at as sexual objects. This is amusing because the entire essence of a woman is distilled down to her sexuality when she is told to cover up every inch of her body.

Remember that not wearing a burqa draws the hungry cats.

THE nation's most senior Muslim cleric has blamed immodestly dressed women who don't wear Islamic headdress for being preyed on by men and likened them to abandoned "meat" that attracts voracious animals.

You see, burqa-free women are partly responsible for attracting rapists. One finds the vicious, logical conclusion of this thinking in Arabia: "Saudi court punishes rape victim with 200 lashes."

What sweet liberation.

This wretched mindset sees women as only a sexual object -- and men as no more than beasts who should never be enticed. The burqa is a symbol of this monstrous, backwards, uncivil way of life. Women in Islamic nations wear this vile garb not because they choose to but out of fear. Fear that they might be hit or worse.

For example, recently the Iranian regime cracked down on women who didn't wear appropriate dress in public. All across Persia they were liberated.

Another example: In March of 2002 a few Muslim men were presented with two stark choices.

(A) Allow young girls to escape a fire with a small chance that someone might get a glimpse of their ankles or

(B) Block the exits from the inferno which would result in the painful, horrifying deaths of over a dozen girls.

Guess which choice they went with.

There's another aspect to this perverseness. Most Muslim men do not have control over their lives, laws or society. What they do have is tremendous power over women. These men routinely beat women for the smallest transgressions in Islamic nations; the neighbors and the police don't even bat an eyelash. It's an utterly normal and a sick dynamic.

This normalcy is strongly challenged and threatened in Western culture. Here, women have far more choices in every sphere of life. Aqsa Parvez had only rebelled against the most visible aspect of Islam: the burqa. However, in the future, she could have decided to choose her own studies, profession, and even a husband!

Her father had lost control. He at first thrashed her. She still defied him and threw off her glorious garbage bag when she was in school. He finally murdered her. This heinous man constructed a tiny district of the Taliban in a Canadian city but her daughter repeatedly went outside to taste freedom. He couldn't stomp out that freedom. So, he crushed her.

This is what it's about.

I'll finish by asking segacs or any reader: How many Jews and Christians are beaten or killed every year for refusing to wear their religious symbols?

Sign Of The Times: Sweden Castrates Army Symbol

Protests from female soldiers have led to the Swedish military removing the penis of a heraldic lion depicted on the Nordic Battlegroup's coat of arms. The armed forces agreed to emasculate the lion after a group of women from the rapid reaction force lodged a complaint to the European Court of Justice, […]. "We were given the task of making sure the willy disappeared," Christian Braunstein from the army's 'tradition commission' told Göteborgs-Posten.

Storm Track Appeasement: Episcopalians, Other Christians Ask Muslims for Forgiveness

Yeah, you read that right. Christians are now apologizing to Muslims. This is a disgusting and unbelievable act of prostration to Islam. What the hell is the Church thinking? Where are the Crusaders of old who remember Martel and Vienna and who refused to see Europe become another Muslim conquest?

Disgusting, just disgusting.

Baltimore: Blacks Repeatedly Attack Whites, But It's Not A Hate Crime

No, hate is not suspected in either of these two incidents. So, what was the reason for these beatings?

BALTIMORE -- Maryland Transit Administration officials are investigating a second reported assault on a bus in the last week.

Patrick Green and Robert Rothe told WBAL TV 11 News that they were antagonized and attacked after boarding the No. 64 bus late Monday night in south Baltimore.

The men, who are white, said the attackers yelled racial slurs and that no one on board, including the driver, stepped in to stop the attack. MTA surveillance cameras captured four men boarding the bus at the Hanover Street stop Monday night, moments before Green and Rothe got on.

Green and Rothe said they believe other passengers were afraid to help and that the driver refused to call for help.

"We were saying the whole time to the driver, 'You need to help us, call the police,'" Green told 11 News reporter Kerry Cavanaugh. "He said, 'I can't. I'll get in trouble.'"

Roth said the driver closed the door and drove away, even though the attack continued once they got off the bus.

"We could've been left on the side of the road, dead," Rothe said.

MTA officials said the driver of the bus is currently not operating a vehicle while the incident is being investigated.

MTA officials said they're not currently classifying the incident as a hate crime. They said they're simply calling it a common assault.

Green and Rothe said they're mad it took MTA officials three days to release photos of the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call MTA police at 410-454-7720.

In a similar incident, Sarah Kreager said she suffered broken facial bones and other injuries after she was punched, kicked and dragged off a bus Dec. 4. Kreager's companion, Troy Ellis, was also attacked, but not beaten as severely.

That incident is still under investigation.

Stay with WBALTV.com and WBAL TV 11 News for updates.

Anyone with any information is asked to call MTA police at 410-454-7720.

I say, call the MTA and tell them that when a beating is accompanied by racial slurs it is clearly a hate crime. What more is there to ponder?

If these beatings are not hate crimes, then there are no hate crimes, and hate crime laws ought to be taken off the books.

Giving Away England By The Euro

The European Union created a Constitution and put it to a vote ... well, that is, until the French and Dutch voters rejected. Since then, the EU and its co-conspirators (that would be the governments of the European countries themselves) have been trying to slip a "treaty" underneath the noses of their citizens.

And, if you think that is horrifying, check out the surreal burlesque UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown is playing with the press:

David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, has signed the EU reform treaty on behalf of Britain.

Gordon Brown will call for Europe to show "global leadership"

Gordon Brown will fly into Lisbon later after attending a Commons committee hearing. The signing of the treaty, which replaces the EU Constitution rejected by French and Dutch voters in 2005, paves the way for its ratification by MPs in a House of Commons vote next year.

But Mr Brown will still come under pressure to hold a popular vote on the treaty as opinion poll after poll suggests referendum demands have the support of a large majority of UK voters.

The Prime Minister's trip to Lisbon – Portugal currently holds the EU's rotating presidency – has been mired in controversy after he tried to pull out of the signing which clashes with an appearance before a Commons committee.

Mr Brown has sparked charges of cowardice because he will not be photographed singing the treaty's dotted line with other EU leaders.

He has dismissed the “fuss” over his late arrival and denied that it made him look “marginal” or was designed to avoid bad publicity.

He has vowed that the treaty should see the end of the EU's preoccupation will “semi-constitutions” and a new on “global leadership”.

"What I'm going to say to Europe is stop looking inwards, stop looking at constitutions or semi-constitutions or institutions for a long time ahead and for the foreseeable future concentrate on the big issues ahead of us,” Mr Brown said ahead of his visit to Portugal.

Last night Portuguese diplomats did not know of any special arrangements for the Prime Minister to be photographed signing the treaty after a lunch of EU leaders.

"Nothing is programmed for the press, at the moment nothing, the cameras will be gone,” said an official.

Mr Brown is expected to miss a lunch of EU leaders, being held in Portugal's national coach museum, amid carriages once owned by Europe's 18th century monarchs and emperors. Officials expect him to arrive during coffee.

Any treaty signing photo shoot, will have to be organised separately, at the discretion of Portuguese prime minister José Socrates.

"What will other EU leaders think of a Prime Minister who dithers for a week about whether he dares be photographed putting pen to paper?” asked the shadow foreign secretary, William Hague.

Not to be outdone in the idiocy department, environmentalists have figured out a way to get in on the action too:

Environmentalists have criticised EU leaders for contributing to global warming by hold two meetings – one in Lisbon today and the other in Brussels tomorrow.

The combined flights - 48,000 miles - of leaders and their diplomatic entourages will add 135 tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere at a time when the EU is lecturing other nations at a climate change summit in Bali.

But, even in today's fever dream of a civilization, reality can set in:

Labour MPs yesterday warned Mr Miliband that the Government had failed to persuade the public that the treaty was different from the old Constitution, on which Labour promised a referendum.

Like the shelved Constitution the new treaty creates a permanent EU President, a “Foreign Minister” known as a High Representative for foreign affairs, scraps 55 national vetoes and a new legal authority for the EU, allowing it to sign international treaties.

Labour members of the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee told Mr Miliband they faced a “dilemma” explaining to voters why no referendum would be held, given that Labour promised them a vote on the constitution in its 2005 manifesto.

As at 13:00 GMT today I am now stateless

Well they did the dirty deed, as of 13:00 GMT I am within my own persona no longer part of any state, I owe no allegience to the UK government what is left of it of course, but most of all I do not recognise this new anti-democratic state effectively created today, I do not owe any allegience or respect to this state, I absolutely reject it, I do not accept its authority over me at all.

This new state is founded upon anti-democratic principals, this new state passes laws that are directly against freedom of expression and have no democratically oversight on these laws, they have ridden roughshod over the people, they have refused to give the people a voice by signing this without the acceptance of the people, it is unacceptable.

I thereby reject anything and everything from the EU as a state, I will do all that I can to undermine this state based on my own morals and principals.

Next time you feel disenfranchised by the State Dept's attitudes, remember this...

The world is dissatisfied with American leadership - Richard Armitage (the guy who revealed Valerie Plame and got away with it) Comment for the Asia Times

It may be too late to convince the world to like the United States. But America's use of "smart power" could be a timely answer to the neo-conservative foreign policy train wreck that has made the US globally unpopular. It's about balancing coercion with attraction, abandoning the September 11 mindset, and investing in the global good. - Richard Armitage and Joseph Nye

Translation for the uninitiated....time to give up the idea that democracies and real republics which guarantee individual rights are a valuable and desirable goal worth striving for as national political aims

Stop getting mad, America. Get smart
By Richard Armitage and Joseph Nye

The world is dissatisfied with American leadership. Shocked and frightened after September 11, 2001, we put forward an angry face to the globe, not one that reflected the more traditional American values of hope and optimism, tolerance and opportunity.
This is another way of saying...GET OVER IT, AMERICA

This fearful approach has hurt the United States' ability to bring allies to its cause, but it is not too late to change. The nation should embrace a smarter strategy that blends our "hard" and "soft" power - our ability to attract and persuade, as well as our ability to use economic and military might.

Lest anyone think that this approach is weak or naive, remember that Defense Secretary Robert Gates used a major speech on November 26 "to make the case for strengthening our capacity to use 'soft' power and for better integrating it with 'hard' power".
Mr. Gates as documented in hard facts elsewhere in this blog has for years made plain he believes in engagment with our enemies, exactly that same policy which many, when voiced by Mr. Obama, have called NAIVE. In short, he like Jim Baker and many others believes that striving to create democracies in a world filled with Palestinian Authorities, Muammar Qadaffis, Saddam Husseins, Hugo Chavez's et al, is quixotic and stupid. Rather, we should give the some or all of what they want, as reasonable mature men and women should do, and avoid useless, profitless, and tasteless loss of life.

Since September 11, the war on terrorism has shaped this isolating outlook, becoming the central focus of US engagement with the world.....neither can we remain stuck in a narrow post-September 11 mindset that alienates much of the world.

Clearly, upon reading the words of the state dept's leaders and long time hands, it is easy to see why their world view, warped by years of association with the Hussein's of the world is capable only of enraging an american population they have estranged themselves from

This is not the dwellers in the permanent govt abandoning Israel,
that is a corollary effect,
this is the mindset of these cretins abandoning what makes America, AMERICA.

Slink away into silent retirement and trouble us no more. Something is terribly wrong not just with you two, who have left his nation's highest aspirations as unreachable ideals not worth pursuing as realists, but with the system which has elevated such misbegotten cynical ideas as ideals.

Islam's Roots

Anthropologist Philip Carl Salzman analyzes Islam by examining its origin. He shows many of the cultural conditions that influenced the formation of this religious political ideology are still operative today. These include tribalism and its distinctive honor dynamics, conquests, domination, and the need to humiliate, warmongering and seeking validation in military victory. For example:

“Only the victorious have honor. The more vanquished are the defeated, the greater is the victor's honor. As Ajami observes, in the Arab world, ‘triumph rarely comes with mercy or moderation.’Arabs are taught, and many have taken to heart, that honor is more important than wealth, fame, love, or even death. Imbued with such a sense, today's Arab finds himself in an untenable situation: Juxtaposing their recent history to the years of glory under Muhammad, Arabs can see only defeat visited upon defeat.” …

“[T]he Swiss weekly Die Weltwoche, asked Al-Jazeera editor-in-chief Ahmed Sheikh whether enmity toward Israel is motivated by self-esteem. Sheikh explained, "Exactly. It's because we always lose to Israel. It gnaws at the people in the Middle East that such a small country as Israel, with only about 7 million inhabitants, can defeat the Arab nation with its 350 million. That hurts our collective ego.”

Gates of Delirium

Someone light a match for God's sake. Fjordman really stuck up the joint over at Gates of whatever-you-call-them this morning. My eyes are watering and I'm feeling a little dizzy.
Fjordman seems to think it is all but inevitable that the USA is on a path towards ruin because Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians all think the other eats watermelons, rice, and beans.

What a friggin minstrel show. Thank God, GOV is there to direct.

Anyway here's a little snippet from Fjordman:

Many Americans seem to believe it’s all about the Constitution, and that everybody who sets foot on US soil is equally an American.. Put in the extreme, this view would mean that you could exchange the present US population with 300 million Zulus, yet the USA would still remain as American as apple pie if the Constitution remained in place. I’m not so sure that is true.

And, of course, none of us said it was. There's this little thing called assimilation you might have heard us Americans talking about once in awhile, if you were paying attention, Fjordman.

(By the way, doesn't Fjordman wear wooden shoes and speak that language where they just say, "Fer-de-fer, de-fer-de-fer," over and over all day long?)

Anyway, I wouldn't bring any of this up if the comments weren't so precious. I love Sodra, for instance. He really lets it all hang out:

Very good article, Fjordman. It certainly should be noted that such severe shifts in historically "minority" groups have only occurred over the last 60 years or so. Which of course begs the question, "Are these Zulus really equal?"

So many otherwise intelligent individuals misread the American Declaration of Independence, specifically the phrase "all men are created equal" to provide support for a colorblind society. It really is shocking to see just how deeply this politically correct brainwashing has taken hold.

Yeah, it is shocking that 230 years later, after a Civil War, wave after wave of immigration (each wave of which was predicted to destroy America as we know it), a war against Nazism, and the Civil Rights movement, we are still fighting about whether the American idea will work. I guess we'll have to get back to you on that in another 230 years, ok?

Latte Conservative serves up a double Mocha with an extra shot of rancid cream with this comment:

These people who think it's only about the Constitution probably don't have two sets of African neighbors, as I do. Sure, they're middle class and don't bother anyone, but they don't have the slightest idea about what it means to be a neighbor in America. Both families: televisions blaring most of the time, don't say good morning or make eye contact, etc. How many generations will it take for them to understand how to share space?

I don't know why, but that really makes me laugh. In fact, I think it may well be featured on the next episode of the IBA Radio Show.

It is GOV commenter Archonix who wins the IBA GOV commenter of the week award, though, because he actually seems to get it:

Well... in this instance, I disagree with you all.or let me put it another way, I can see why you would think this way - unassimilated immigrants cause what is often euphemistically described as "tension" and akrge numbers of immigrants in a short time will overwhelm the host culture - but I can't subscribe to this idea that minorities will inevitably overwhelm the host culture by their sheer presence. The problem is assimilation, as I just mentioned.

In the 50s, the UK brought in a large number of afro-carribbean workers to bolster the population lost during the second world war. They assimilated, by and large, and their children are as English as any other native of these isles. The thing is, they were brought in, already quite immersed in English - as opposed to British - culture and generally willing to work. They assimilated. Of course they kept hold of their parent culture and that slowly blended into the host culture over time but, importantly, they didn't cling to it in defiance of th culture they were joining.

There will be similar stories in most of Europe.

What Archonix describes is the process Americans know by the name of the "Melting Pot." Often, when I have brought this process of assimilation up to Europeans I have been reprimanded as an idiotic "multiculturalist."

Thing is, there is a difference between multiculturalism and Melting Pot assimilation. However, if one has not seen it happen, then I can understand it would be hard to imagine.

Melting Pot assimilation is what happens in a culture which allows for a free market of ideas. In such a culture, the good ideas (whether they are political, economic, or culinary in nature) will sustain themselves by the sheer fact that many people will buy into them.

In other words, if 20 million Hispanics move into the United States and they all bring burritos with them, and we like their burritos, then the burrito will become part of the culture of the United States. If Hispanics bring with them a way of doing business which is rife with corruption, then that idea will be gradually elimnated, because it is dangerous, and ultimately, it is not efficient. If Hispanics bring with them a certain notion of how a family ought to run, and white guys buy into that notion, then white guys will marry the Hispanic girls and a new kind of American family will be born. (Hint, hint, white chicks) But, I digress ...

What do you know? Capitalism and assimilation go together. We can have immigration and freedom. We don't have to resort to a state-enforced Ethnic Nationalism to preserve our culture.

Well, actually, if you want to keep wearing those wooden shoes, you might have to have state help, because no one really wants to wear them anymore. We just want to put them in museums and look at them.

Two important speeches

First, Melanie Phillips points to a speech posted at Family Security Matters written by Newt Gingrich, that he gave at a JNF meeting at the Selig Center in which he really nailed what's wrong with today's politicians:
And let's be honest: What's the primary source of money for al Qaeda? It's you, re-circulated through Saudi Arabia. Because we have no national energy strategy, when clearly if you really cared about liberating the United States from the Middle East and if you really cared about the survival of Israel, one of your highest goals would be to move to a hydrogen economy and to eliminate petroleum as a primary source of energy. Now that's what a serious national strategy would look like, but that would require real change.

So then you look at Saudi Arabia. The fact that we tolerate a country saying no Christian and no Jew can go to Mecca, and we start with the presumption that that's true while they attack Israel for being a religious state is a sign of our timidity, our confusion, our cowardice that is stunning. It's not complicated. We're inviting Saudi Arabia to come to Annapolis to talk about rights for Palestinians when nobody is saying, ‘Let's talk about rights for Christians and Jews in Saudi Arabia. Let's talk about rights for women in Saudi Arabia.’

So we accept this totally one-sided definition of the world in which our enemies can cheerfully lie on television every day, and we don't even have the nerve to insist on the truth. We pretend their lies are reasonable. This is a very fundamental problem. And if you look at who some of the largest owners of some of our largest banks are today, they're Saudis.

You keep pumping billions of dollars a year into countries like Venezuela, Iran and Saudi Arabia, and Russia, and you are presently going to have created people who oppose you who have lots of money. And they're then going to come back to your own country and finance, for example, Arab study institutes whose only requirement is that they never tell the truth. So you have all sorts of Ph.D.s who now show up quite cheerfully prepared to say whatever it is that makes their funders happy – in the name, of course, of academic freedom. So why wouldn't Columbia host a genocidal madman? It's just part of political correctness. I mean, Ahmadinejad may say terrible things, he may lock up students, he may kill journalists, he may say, ‘We should wipe out Israel,’ he may say, ‘We should defeat the United States,’ but after all, what has he done that's inappropriate? What has he done that wouldn't be repeated at a Hollywood cocktail party or a nice gathering in Europe?...

What truly bothers me is the shallowness and the sophistry of the Western governments, starting with our own. When a person says to you, ‘I don't recognize that you exist,’ you don't start a negotiation. The person says, ‘I literally do not recognize’ and then lies to you. I mean the first thing you say to this guy is ‘Terrific. Let's go visit Mecca. Since clearly there's no other state except Israel that is based on religion, the fact that I happen to be Christian won't bother anybody.’ And then he'll say, ‘Well, that's different.’

We tolerate this. We have created our own nightmare because we refuse to tell the truth…None of our enemies are confused. Our enemies don't get up each morning and go, ‘Oh, gosh, I think I'll have an existential crisis of identity in which I will try to think through whether or not we can be friends while you're killing me.’ Our enemies get up every morning and say, ‘We hate the West. We hate freedom.
Gingrich makes a lot of good points about how it is the government itself that is making itself into modern-day Chamberlains and not willing to be truthful about the enemies of the west. Read the whole thing.

Next we have one given by Benjamin Netanyahu at the Knesset last week, in which he points out that we do not condition our existence on the enemies' agreement:
The UN resolution of November 29, 1947 recognizing a Jewish state was an important moment in the history of our nation, and an important moment in the history of all nations.

Since then, we have made peace with Egypt and Jordan, but the obstacle to widening the circle of peace remains what it has always been: the refusal of Israel's enemies to recognize the Jewish State in any borders.

Our enemies do not want an Arab state next to Israel. They want an Arab state instead of Israel.

Time and again they were offered an Arab state next to Israel: first, in the partition plan of 1947; then, indirectly, in the Oslo accords; later, unequivocally, at Camp David in 2000; and finally, in the countless declarations since then by both Israeli and international leaders which have called for two states for two peoples.

And how did our enemies respond to these offers? Time and again they violently rejected them. In 1947, they launched terror attacks and then an all out war to annihilate the Jewish state.

During the Oslo peace process, they terrorized Israel with suicide bombers; after Camp David, they orchestrated the Second Intifadah in which over 1,000 Israelis were murdered; since then they have fired thousands of Katushya rockets on the Galilee and thousands of Kassam rockets on the Western Negev in order, they say, "to liberate occupied Palestine" -- in other words, "occupied" Haifa, "occupied" Acre, "occupied" Sderot and "occupied" Ashkelon.

Is This What We’ve Come To?

I couldn’t let this go by without a comment even though it doesn’t match the theme of my blog. But then again, it does show what our society has come to when predatory lawyers like John Edwards file suits for people who lack any common sense whatsoever.

Sorta like the dhimmis we have today that bow to every offense – real or imagined – that some Muslims whine about.

The Wacky Warning Label Contest, now in its 11th year, is conducted by Novi-based Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch as part of an effort to show the effects of lawsuits on warning labels. Contest organizer Bob Dorigo Jones says the silly labels reflect how broken America's civil justice system is.
Here are the winners this year.

Storm Track Intimidation: Muslim Cajones – If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Sue 'Em

There are many reasons why one team beats another. Better players, better game tactics, even the loosing team having an off day.

This Muslim soccer team had an off day because …. The other team wore a cross on their uniform. Is there no limit to the stupidity of some Muslims? Hat tip to Vito Vaccaro.

Congresswoman Sue Myrick - Honorary Infidel

Sue Myrick is invited to post here anytime she likes (although that might cost her votes if she ever decides to run for President). This woman gets it. Check out this interview (thanks to Atlas):

Meet Rep. Sue Myrick, Founder of the Anti-Terrorism/Jihad Caucus
Family Security Matters, Pam Weiser

PM: Okay, I have a few questions for you. Please give us the who, what, when, where and why about the Anti-Terrorism/Jihad Caucus. What exactly do you hope to accomplish?

MYRICK: Well, we’ve got 120 members, four co-chairs, two Dems and two Republicans. We really want to accomplish educating the members so they can intelligently talk about the issues when they go home to their districts, and then start a national dialogue. We meet twice a month here on the Hill…and the why, I guess, is really that members, even if you’re on a committee of jurisdiction, sometimes then you don’t really have everything you need to know to make an informed decision. So, we have had excellent response; we’ve had really good people come talk to us, and it’s bipartisan, so it’s been very encouraging to me.

PM: Noted Islamic expert Robert Spencer has called the term war on terror "a misnomer." Would you agree with this assessment? Why or why not?

MYRICK: Well, sure I agree. We aren’t fighting terror, we’re fighting ideology.

And, I describe it as Ismamofascism because it’s authoritarian, and it’s a very political ideology, and it considers an individual and other society interests are subordinate to the interests of the state. It really concerns me because, you know, we’ve always lived under freedoms in the Western world, and the ideology they are supporting will take away those freedoms, and that is very scary.

PM: Would you say that the mainstream press reporting accurately on the threat posed by Islamism and Jihad?

MYRICK: Are they even reporting it? (Editor’s note: Rep. Myrick created this bipartisan caucus back in January 2007. The fact that this is only now getting notice does not reflect well on how much attention this topic is receiving in the mainstream press.)

PM: I guess that answers my question! All right, how has political correctness and multiculturalism hampered our efforts in fighting Jihad?

MYRICK: Where do I start? Well first of all, it prevents us from talking about the enemy, and that’s why we use words like “war on terror” because, you know, we aren’t allowed from political correctness to say Islamofascists or radical Islamist Jihadists; those words aren’t supposed to be used. So it’s very frustrating to me because you can’t fight something if you can’t identify it.

PM: Right. Why do you think moderate Muslims in America and elsewhere are not as outspoken against Islamism as they might be, and what can be done to encourage them to speak out?

MYRICK: Well you know, part of the problem is because there are a lot of radical Islamists in this country and around the world, very frankly, that do prevent moderate Muslims from having a voice out of fear. I mean, they literally threaten them like they threaten everybody else, and so that’s one side of it. And then most of the moderate Muslims that I meet with, people…who have organizations, individuals who are concerned about this, they literally don’t have the resources that they need to build their groups. And the third part of this is our government does not seek them out for advice.

Now some time ago, [Rep.] Frank Wolf and myself sent a letter over to the State Department, Condoleezza Rice and Karen Hughes, you know, saying “why don’t you meet with moderate leaders, because everybody you’re meeting with is a representative of a radical group.” And so we got a call back saying, “well, we will meet with them,” but to my knowledge it hasn’t happened yet; at least the people I know have not had the opportunity to be involved.

Dead Because Of Her Hijab

Or, more accurately, because she wouldn't continue to wear her hijab.

At least, that's how the situation looks right now.

Aqsa Parvez, 16-years-old, was this week choked to death by her father in the Greater Toronto area of Canada. From this source:
The 16-year-old Mississauga girl who was allegedly strangled by her father in a dispute over her refusal to wear the hijab has died.

Aqsa Parvez, a Grade 11 student at Applewood Heights, succumbed to her injuries late last night, Peel Regional Police said today.

The girl’s 57-year-old father, Muhammad Parvez, has been charged with muder. Aqsa’s 26-year-old brother, Waqas Parvez, has been charged with obstructing police.

Friends believe Aqsa...was the victim of a dispute over the teenager's desire to be more western.

“She wanted to live her life the way she wanted to, not the way her parents wanted her to,” classmate Krista Garbhet told the Post this morning.

“She just wanted to be herself, honestly she just wanted to show her beauty, and not be pushed around by her parents telling her what she has to be like, what she has to do. Nobody would want to do that.”
According to this source,
Friends of the teenager...said she had been threatened by her strictly religious family before.

“She got threatened by her father and her brother,” said Dominiquia Holmes-Thompson, who had known Aqsa since they both started high school together. “He said that if she leaves, he would kill her.”

Ebonie Mitchell, 16, another friend of the victim, said the conflict with her father over wearing Islamic dress came to a head at the beginning of this school year. “She just wanted to dress like we do,” she said.

“Last year she wore like the Islamic stuff and everything, the hijab, and this year she’s all Western. She just wanted to look like everyone else. And I guess her dad had a problem with that.”

Ebonie said her friend had left home once before, in September, for about two weeks. She returned home, but the fights with her family over what she wore just got worse.

Dominiquia, 16, said her friend had been arguing with her father for more than a year over the restrictions he imposed on her, including demanding that she wear the hijab at all times. “She wanted to go out with her friends, hang out and just be like a normal person,” she said. “But he was always trying to control her ... he wouldn’t let her go out or do anything.”

The stricken girl’s friends said the fights with her father got so bad that she had left the family home to live with friends about a week ago. “She was going back, but just to get her stuff,” said friend Krista Garbutt. “She was scared to go home, but she had to get her clothes and stuff.”

Neighbours said as many as 11 people lived in the home, which was sealed off by crime scene tape and surrounded by police cars yesterday, all members of an extended Pakistani family. Const. Valade confirmed that there were other people in the home when the teenager was attacked.

“I didn’t really know any of them,” said one woman, who would not give her name. “There were a lot of them living in that house, always coming and going. They didn’t talk to me, maybe just to say hello once in a while. That’s all.”

The home where the teen was attacked is the listed address of Muhammad Parvez, a Mississauga cab driver. “He was Muslim and very devout, very observant,” said one of his fellow drivers at Mississauga’s Blue and White Taxi, who did not want his name used. “He was always stopping to take breaks and pray: three, four times a day.”

His eldest son, also named Muhammad, also worked as a cab driver and lived in the family home with his wife and at least one child, the driver said. Several people inside the home were questioned by police before being allowed to leave.

Neighbours said the family moved in just over a year ago.
Police have cautioned not to jump to conclusions about the case. But it doesn't take much of a leap to figure out the father's motive. Aqsa was assimilating, as the children of immigrants will do, and her father wasn't about to have that happen.

Remember the face of Aqsa Parvez:

When Someone Criticizes Islam, What Should We Call That?

WHEN SOMEONE says some of the passages of the Qur'an are violent and Islam itself is a political religion, what do you call that kind of criticism? It's an important question. Strangely enough, I've heard it called "racist," which seems very odd. Islam is not a race.

I've also heard it called "Islamophobia," which is also strange, because it is not a phobia.

It is religious criticism. But it's more than that, because Islam is not merely a religion. Islam is also a political system with political goals. So instead of racism or Islamophobia, we could call it religious or political criticism.

But if you call it that, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. In a free society, it is perfectly legitimate to criticize religious doctrines and political systems. It's perfectly all right in a free country, for example, to point out that the Catholic church frowns upon birth control, or that communism and free enterprise are incompatible. Anyone who protested statements of that kind would accurately be seen as absurd.

So when someone explains the political ideology contained in the Qur'an, it is a completely legitimate activity, and anyone who calls it racism or Islamophobia either doesn't understand what they're saying, or, more likely, they are trying to censor the criticism. That kind of censorship is out of line in a free society.

Ironically, the fact that exponents of pure Islam (the jihadists) will not tolerate criticism of Islam is one of the main criticisms of Islam. The fact that the Qur'an itself is adamant about disallowing any criticism of the Qur'an (and calls for a death sentence for doing so) is one of the most legitimate things to criticize about the Qur'an.

"Islamophobia" Assault on Free Speech Continues

The Freedom-Phobia Conference in Byzantium has been concluded. The Organization of Islamic Conference has posted its opening statement from the Conference. In the name of "Reconciliation" they are demanding that the West engage in self-censorship and that Western governments implement laws prohibiting blasphemy (and least with regard to Islam). There is an excellent analysis of this farce at Gates of Vienna.

Meanwhile, the United Nations is gearing up for Durban II, since the first festival of Jew and Infidel hatred/whining for dollars was such a rousing success. Eye on the UN and Brussels Journal have the particulars:

The UN Human Rights Council (the UN commission with the Allah logo) has scheduled a second “global anti-racism and anti-xenophobia” conference for the Spring of 2009. The conference is part of what UN diplomats call, the “Global efforts for the total elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance and the comprehensive implementation of and follow up to the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.” The venue of the conference has yet to be decided. The official title is the “Durban Review Conference,” but the conference is generally referred to as ‘Durban 2.’ The UN’s Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) Bureau for ‘Durban 2’ is chaired by Libya. Other human rights luminaries on the Preparatory Bureau are Iran, Pakistan and Cuba.

At the UN, a club of 192 predominantly unfree and undemocratic countries, 57 of whom are also member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the situation is even worse. This became very clear during the 2005-2006 crisis over the Danish cartoons but also at the Durban conference. Non-democratic and Muslim countries impose their views about “racism” and “xenophobia” on the West by redefining “racism” and “xenophobia” as opposition to Islam. In this context Israel is the world’s most racist state and people defending the traditional culture of Europe are “Islamophobes.”

Anne Bayefsky, the editor of Eye on the UN writes that one of the things the UN aims to do at the Durban 2 conference is create a new UN body to fight “global Islamophobia” because, as Egypt stated at a recent meeting of the Durban 2 Preparatory Bureau:

"The “aftermath” of 9/11 saw a new and dangerous phenomenon in incitement to racial and religious hatred [...] [T]he highly defamatory cartoons published by a Danish newspaper [...] deeply hurt over a billion Muslims around the world, and threatened social harmony and peace, both nationally and internationally."

There you have it, the main problem after 9/11 was the Danish newspaper cartoons not the over ten thousand Jihad inspired attacks resulting in the deaths of thousands.

Update, I: Liberal commentator Larry O'Donnell loves to bash Mormons, but draws the line at criticizing you know who. It seems he doesn't what to have his throat cut by opponents of "Islamophobia."

Christopher Hitchens Says, "Disband The CIA

Christopher Hitchens believes the NIE was the work of intelligence officials set on undermining the Bush Administration. Additionally, he accuses members of the CIA of mutiny and treason.

It is completely false for anybody to claim, on the basis of this admitted "estimate," that Iran has ceased to be a candidate member of the fatuously named nuclear "club." It has the desire to acquire the weaponry, it retains the means to do so, and it has been caught lying and cheating about the process. If it suspended some overtly military elements of the project out of a justifiable apprehension in 2003, it has energetically persisted in the implicit aspects—most notably the installation of gas centrifuges at the plant in Natanz and the building of a heavy water reactor at Arak.

All that the estimate has done is to define weaponry down and to suggest a distinction without much difference between a "civilian" and a "military" dimension of the same program.

The acquisition of enriched uranium and of plutonium, for any purpose, is identical with the acquisition of a thermonuclear weapons capacity. Iran continues to strive to produce both, neither of which, as it happens, are required for its ostensible civilian energy needs.

The briefing that I was given by the British Embassy in Tehran in 2005, showing the howlingly glaring discrepancy between what Iran claims and what Iran does, is not in the least challenged by the most recent conclusions. To say that Iran has "stopped" rather than paused its program is to offer an opinion, not to present a finding. (For more on this, see the excellent article by Valerie Lincy and Gary Milhollin in the Dec. 6 New York Times, and also Jonathan Schell's Dec. 9 piece on the Guardian's Web site.) The mullahs are steadily amassing the uranium and plutonium ingredients of a weapon and will indeed soon be able to pause, along with other countries, like Japan, at the point where only a brief interlude and a swift spurt of effort would put them in full possession of the bomb.

Why, then, have our intelligence agencies helped to give the lying Iranian theocracy the appearance of a clean bill, while simultaneously and publicly (and with barely concealed relish) embarrassing the president and crippling his policy? It is not just a hypothetical strike on Iran that is rendered near-impossible by this estimate, but also the likelihood of any concerted diplomatic or economic pressure, as well. The policy of getting the United Nations to adopt sanctions on the regime, which was about to garner the crucial votes, can now be regarded as clinically dead. A fine day's work by those who claim to guard us while we sleep.

One explanation is that, like Mark Twain's cat, which having sat on a hot stove would never afterward sit on a cold one, the CIA has adopted a policy of caution to make up for its "slam-dunk" embarrassment over Iraq. This is a superficially plausible hypothesis, which ignores the fact that for most of the duration of the Iraq debate, the CIA was all but openly hostile to any argument for regime-change in Baghdad. This hostility extended all the way from a frenzied attempt to discredit Ahmad Chalabi and the Iraqi National Congress, to the Plame/Wilson imbroglio, and the agency's "referral" of Robert Novak's disclosure to the Department of Justice. Interagency hostility in Washington, D.C., between the CIA and the Department of Defense has never been so damaging to any administration, let alone to any administration in time of war, as it has been to this one.

And now we have further confirmation of the astonishing culture of lawlessness and insubordination that continues to prevail at the highest levels in Langley. At a time when Congress and the courts are conducting important hearings on the critical question of extreme interrogation, and at a time when accusations of outright torture are helping to besmirch and discredit the United States all around the world, a senior official of the CIA takes the unilateral decision to destroy the crucial evidence. This deserves to be described as what it is: mutiny and treason.

Despite a string of exposures going back all the way to the Church Commission, the CIA cannot rid itself of the impression that it has the right to subvert the democratic process both abroad and at home. Its criminality and arrogance could perhaps have been partially excused if it had ever got anything right, but, from predicting the indefinite survival of the Soviet Union to denying that Saddam Hussein was going to invade Kuwait, our spymasters have a Clouseau-like record, one that they have earned yet again with their exculpation of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

It was after the grotesque estimate of continued Soviet health and prosperity that the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan argued that the CIA should be abolished. It is high time for his proposal to be revived. The system is worse than useless—it's a positive menace. We need to shut the whole thing down and start again.

Colorado Christians Saved By An Armed Hero Named Assam

When we heard the news of the Christian Missionary center, and the Christian church being attacked in Colorado, many of us thought, I wonder if it was a Muslim.
No, it wasn't.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Jeanne Assam appeared before the news media for the first time Monday and said she "did not think for a minute to run away" when a gunman entered the New Life Church in Colorado Springs and started shooting.

There was applause as Assam spoke to reporters and TV cameras saying, "God guided me and protected me."

New Life's Senior Pastor Brady Boyd called Assam "a real hero" because Murray "had enough ammunition on him to cause a lot of damage."

When asked by a reporter if she felt like a hero, Assam said, "I wasn't just going to wait for him to do further damage."

"I give credit to God," she said.

Assam described how the gunman, Matthew Murray, entered the east entrance of the church firing his rifle.

"There was chaos," Assam said, as parishioners ran away, "I will never forget the gunshots. They were so loud."

"I saw him coming through the doors" and took cover, Assam said. "I came out of cover and identified myself and engaged him and took him down."

"God was with me," Assam said. "I didn't think for a minute to run away."

Assam said she believes God gave her the strength to confront Murray, keeping her calm and focused even though he appeared to be twice her size and was more heavily armed.

Murray was carrying two handguns, an assault rifle and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, said Sgt. Jeff Johnson of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

"It seemed like it was me, the gunman and God," she said.

And, she was armed. Thank God this woman was carrying a gun, right?

Oh, and by the way, this wouldn't be the Infidel Bloggers Alliance if I didn't say, she's a friggin' hottie, isn't she?

The United Nations And the New Anti-Semitism, Part 2

Back on Sept. 3rd, 2001, just eight days before the World Trade Center attacks, the United Nations held an anti-racism conference, the sole purpose of which turned out to be to brand Israel an apartheid state.

The conference, which was held in Durban, South Africa, has been described as the birth of the new anti-Semitism. Here's an article from Ken Timmerman on the first Durban conference:

The "ideological prologue" to September 11 was a raucous and hate-filled event that played itself out half a world away in Durban, South Africa, a normally stately and elegant coastal city along the Indian Ocean.

The third United Nations "World Conference Against Racism" was intended to counterbalance the G-8 summits so the "forgotten peoples" of the world could make their voices heard amid the clamor of globalization and international capitalism. Jesse Jackson was there, demanding that America pay trillions of dollars in reparations for slavery, an institution America led the world in abolishing more than 140 years ago. Fidel Castro and Yasser Arafat were there, as were AIDS activists, homosexual groups, women's rights organizations, former Communists, Maoists, environmentalists and animal-rights and global-warming activists.

In the end, neither Jesse Jackson nor anyone else said one word about actual slavery – the real kind, still going on today in Sudan. Nor was racism – the real kind, that led to the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Tsutsis in Rwanda – on the agenda. Anti-Semitic violence was not on the table, despite the continuing murder of Israeli civilians and foreign tourists in cafés, restaurants and street markets and the desecration of Jewish synagogues across Europe.

The nations of the world and some 6,000 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) had come together for a different purpose. It was so overwhelming that it united such otherwise opposing groups as radical Islamic fundamentalists from Saudi Arabia, Iran and Malaysia, and sexual libertarians and abortion-on-demand activists from Europe. It united Yasser Arafat, Jesse Jackson and the 16 governmental delegations of the European Union whose representative, Swedish ambassador to Switzerland Johan Molander, helped prepare the documents and resolutions that were to be adopted in Durban. That purpose was a deep-rooted, unquenchable hatred of America and of the only successful democracy in the Middle East, Israel.

In the documentation packets handed out at the official registration desk, the tens of thousands of delegates who attended the conference received a pamphlet distributed by the Arab Lawyers Union, which contained caricatures of hook-nosed Jews worthy of the Nazi propaganda newspaper, Der Sturmer. On the cover, the booklet bore the title: "That is the fact … Racism of Zionism & 'Israel,'" over a huge swastika that was intertwined with the Israeli Star of David. On the back cover, the booklet reproduced the official logo of the United Nations conference.

"It was clearly designed to look to a casual observer like an official conference document, which it definitely was not," Samuels recalls. "I gave it to Mary Robinson just before she rose to give her speech at the opening dinner for the NGOs." Robinson, a former president of Ireland, was the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights and secretary-general of the conference.
What happened next shocked nearly everyone at the dinner, especially Samuels, who had seen Mrs. Robinson bow and scrape to every demand from the Arab and Islamic groups.

"She stood up at the podium and waved the book, and said it had no place at a conference dedicated to human dignity. 'When it comes to this,' she said, 'I am a Jew.' She repeated it three times: 'I am a Jew.'"

The reaction to her speech was so childish it would have been amusing if it weren't indicative of the rabid anti-Semitism swelling the Durban conference halls. The next day, Samuels says, he "received a call from a puzzled reporter from the German Press Agency, asking me, ' Is it true? Is she really a Jew?' That evening, Hamas sent out an e-mail saying, 'We knew it all along. Now she's going to get it.'"

Beyond the words, violence was never very far away. When the handful of Jewish groups who attended the conference sought to present evidence of how they had been "harassed and discriminated against" during the pre-Durban meetings, Arab activists stormed the hall and "began shouting, singing and pushing in front of the speakers" until they had to cut short the press conference.

"This is typical of how we have been treated during this conference," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, who had joined Samuels in Durban. For Anne Bayefsky, a professor from New York's Columbia University Law School, "It couldn't get much worse. Some of the Jewish delegates are hiding their accreditation badge because it identifies them as from Israel or as Jewish."

Fierce anti-Israeli demonstrations on the streets of Durban became "a venomous carnival of incitement," with demonstrators handing out flyers "portraying Jews with fangs dripping blood and wearing helmets inscribed with Nazi swastikas." One flyer showed a picture of Hitler, saying: "What if I had won?" Underneath were two possibilities. "The good things – there would be NO Israel and NO Palestinians' blood shed. The bad things – I wouldn't have allowed the making of the new Beetle." Full-size posters of Hitler were on display at the stand of the Arab Lawyers Union in the Conference Documentation Center.

Lord Greville Janner, a member of the British Parliament and longtime pro-democracy activist, called Durban "the worst example of anti-Semitism that I have ever seen."

Now, the United Nations wants to hold Durban part 2:

The whole idea of Durban 2 is a nightmare come true. A conference against racism became almost wholly a conference against Zionism and the Jewish State. The Ford Foundation finally repented its financial support for the sewer which the project had become.

Now there's an appropriation before the United Nations to appropriate money for a second conference which, if the activities of the U.N. Human Rights Council is any precedent, will be another jamboree of hatred towards Israel. Apparently U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Zalmay Khalilzad, is pressing the State Department for instructions to vote such an appropriation. There is little time to prevent such an enormity. Khalizad is a fool, as was proven by his tenure in Iraq. He should not be rewarded by being able to call the shots on this matter.

Here's a question for the Democratic candidates: do they think that bloated and biased assemblies such as the one held in Durban deserve duplication? If not why don't they stand up and say so? Let's hear from Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for whom this query should not put them between a rock and a hard place. And, if it does, God save the Democratic Party.

Storm Track Intimidation: Are Libs Really Doing Muslims Any Good?

Cruising the Web one day looking for material, I ran across a post at the Daily Pundit which got me thinking. The blogger there doesn’t pull any punches and says it like it is about appeasing Muslims.

As we proceed further down the road of appeasing these goat-fellators, I fear we are sealing their fate, and in the end, the surviving remnant of “reformed (civilized) Islam” will be less than fifty percent of what Islam 1.0 was before the Reckoning.

Hmmm. That’s a different way of looking at the appeasement problem. In reality the more we appease them- the more you give into the whining child throwing a hissy fit – the more Muslims are actually doing themselves harm.

A Culturally Different Parenting Technique

Globe and Mail:

A 16-year-old woman was clinging to life in hospital last night after police in Mississauga received a call from a man claiming he had killed his daughter.

Students at nearby Applewood Heights Secondary School in Mississauga identified the teen as Aqsa or Axa Parvez. Some claimed she had clashed with her family after ceasing to wear a hijab and adopting a more Western style of dress.

About the residence:

One neighbour who asked not to be named said she thought there were "at least two" families living in the house.

I'm sure they all provided moral support to the murderous father.

One of the classmates of this poor girl comments on the barbarity:

"Sixteen-year-old girls worry about makeup and boys, not about surviving," another classmate said. "It's not right. She's 16, damn it."

New York Post: Denial No More

An excellent essay in the Post ends with the following:

"Why can't we admit it?

It goes without saying that not all Muslims are terrorists. But it is also true that most terrorists are Muslim. … This is how terror lives: Moderate members of the religion fail to condemn atrocities that are daily carried out in the name of Islam. It has to stop.

These are the same monsters who destroyed the World Trade Center. Who kidnapped Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan and videotaped his beheading. These are people, and I use the word loosely, whose hatred of women is eclipsed only by a loathing of all things Western.

Still, we live in denial.

The Islamo-fascists must not be allowed to slaughter one more innocent. Not one.

The first step to stopping the killing is to admit who is the enemy."

Britain: Time To Emigrate?

Is it time to emigrate, or time to fight?

A new book by a British author says its time to emigrate. He says it's "about the future." That's pathetic, and certainly not very British:

*NOTE: Over 825,000 Americans are British born making the United Kingdom America's 9th largest source of immigrants. Americans of British Ancestry make up the second largest ethnic group in America, the largest being German.

I live in Orlando, Florida USA, the location of Walt Disney World where one of fastest growing immigrant communities is British. Why is this happening? I've done a bit of informal polling in the Orlando British community and the consensus seems to be that they have picked up and packed off for the United States in reaction to the uncontrolled immigration coming into Britain from the Middle East. I should note that most British people who settle in Orlando and Central Florida are middle class white Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASPs) who have waited patiently in line for years to become American citizens. These former Britons are most often educated, professional and/or skilled people literally worth their weight in gold to America, but a great loss to the Mother Country.

George Walden writes well on this issue:

Time To Emigrate?

Former Tory Mp George Walden has written a controversial new book concluding that life in London and the rest of the country is such that is better to emigrate. We want to hear your views -is it a fair assessment or too gloomy.

"Why write a book called “Time to Emigrate?” Because I’ve got three grown-up children, the book is about the future, and the future of life in London looks increasingly risky and pessimistic for millions of middle class families from teachers, nurses to taxi drivers that the only secure option is to emigrate. This is a book for my children and their children.
