Canadian Mosque Says "No Offense Intended"

I sure the imam there didn't intend any offense. On the contrary, he's just teaching what he thinks Allah wants him to teach. He's callin' 'em like he sees 'em, then the mosque's web site is scrubbed clean of the material in question.

From this source:
Canada mosque criticized for Western, Jewish slurs

DUBAI (AlArabiya.net)

A Canadian mosque that has asked workplaces to accept a strict dress code for Muslim women is now under criticism for publicizing slurs against Jews and western societies as well as warning members against integration, Canadian paper the Star reported.

The Khalid Bin al-Walid Mosque has served as the religious authority for eight Somali women who filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission against the delivery service UPS claiming that the company dress code violated their religious freedom.

The Toronto mosque, founded in 1990, serves about 10,000 people and is known for preaching strict adherence to Islamic Sharia law.

The mosque website refers to non-Muslim Westerners as "wicked", "corrupt" and "our clear enemies."

The website's Questions and Answer section where Muslims can ask, which allows Muslims to ask questions regarding their religion but has come under attack recently for some of the replies, according to the Star.

"Is it permissible for women to wear high heeled-shoes?" one reader asked, to which the reply was no. "It involves resembling the Disbelieving Women or the wicked women. It has its origin among the Jewish women," read the explanation.

The site reportedly went on to say that once (a Muslim woman) becomes introduced to the wickedness of Western ideology and concepts ... (she) becomes fixated on trying to appear and act like her "role models" of corruption....

The Q and A section was no longer available on the site at the time of publication and several attempts by AlArabiya.net to reach representatives of the mosque for clarification were unsuccessful.

Hmmmm....The web site was changed. Now, where have I heard THAT before?

From Reliapundit at the Astute Bloggers:

Iranian newspapers are quoting a top adviser to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying the country has converted some of its foreign currency reserves into gold.

The papers published Saturday did not say how much of Iran's estimated $120 billion in reserves were converted into gold. Iranian officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

The daily Jahan-e-Eghtesad, or Economy World, quoted presidential adviser Mojtaba Hashemi Samareh as saying Ahmadinejad ordered the change.

The decision comes after a dramatic fall in oil prices recently triggered by a global financial crisis. About 80 percent of Iran's foreign currency revenue comes from oil exports.

Signs and portents of the end of civilization

AUSTIN, Minn. -- The economy is in tatters and, for millions of people, the future is uncertain. But for some employees at the Hormel Foods Corporation plant here, times have never been better. They are working at a furious pace and piling up all the overtime they want.

The workers make Spam, perhaps the emblematic hard-times food in the American pantry.

Through war and recession, Americans have turned to the glistening canned product from Hormel as a way to save money while still putting something that resembles meat on the table. Now, in a sign of the times, it is happening again, and Hormel is cranking out as much Spam as its workers can produce.

In a factory that abuts Interstate 90, two shifts of workers have been making Spam seven days a week since July, and they have been told that the relentless work schedule will continue indefinitely.

Spam, a gelatinous 12-ounce rectangle of spiced ham and pork, may be among the world's most maligned foods, dismissed as inedible by food elites and skewered by comedians who have offered smart-alecky theories on its name (one G-rated example: Something Posing As Meat).
Of course what it is really, and not humorously a sign of, is consumer dedication to spend not only less, but an absolute minimum.

While many clamor for more govt intervention, the bulk of consumers have demonstrated their own faith in it.

Saudi Arabia - No Jews Allowed

The totalitarian religion of hate that is Islam has been on full display at the official webpage of the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".

Here's a screen capture of their Tourism policy. (They have since removed the ban on "Jewish People" from their website, but excuse me if I don't believe they have changed their ideas.)

Catholic Church Working To Put An End to Obama Policy

Wow, talk about a line in the sand. If this story is true, this will be one of the gutsiest political moves in history.

The Catholics are taking a hard line. I wish they would have done so before the election. But, I suppose, better late than never.

They're prepared, apparently, to close down all their hospitals if the Freedom of Choice Act is passed by Congress.

As I understand it, the bill would prevent any doctor from refusing to do an abortion, and would instantly undo any state laws that have been passed, by the legislators or the people, that have limited abortion in any way, including late term and partial birth.

The closing down of over 500 hospitals and countless clinics is a big deal. Let's see how the O-bami crowd handles this one.

The Caltholic Church is not willing to even sell the buildings, knowing they would be used to perform abortions. Apparently they are willing to just close them down...and leave them vacant.

Now, that's a stand I would admire. Costly. Difficult. Brave.

Some of the bishops, during the discussion, went as far as saying the Catholic Church should be willing to close some health facilities rather them allow them to be subject to a mandate to do abortions from the Obama administration.

Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Chicago spoke up about the threats to Catholic health care under the bill.

“It could mean discontinuing obstetrics in our hospitals, and we may need to consider taking the drastic step of closing our Catholic hospitals entirely,” Paprocki said. “It would not be sufficient to withdraw our sponsorship or to sell them to someone who would perform abortions. That would be a morally unacceptable cooperation in evil.”

“I do not think I’m being alarmist in considering such drastic steps,” he said. “We need to respond in a morally appropriate, responsible fashion.”

A person may not agree with the position of the Catholic Church on abortion and still appreciate the fact that the Church would be willing to stand up, in such an absolute manner, to the anti-Freedom policy of Barack Obama.

You Only Need To Kill One

The following is an article by Bill Warner:

A Democratic congressman was at a public meeting that included a military officer. The question was asked: What is the most important function of the military today? The officer replied that fighting Islamic militants was the most important mission. The congressman quickly replied that it was not a problem and besides, we could not fight 1.5 billion Muslims.

The congressman shares a worldview with George Bush. George Bush made a critical mistake after the attack on September 11th; a mistake that created the presidency of Barack Obama. Bush could not name the enemy-political Islam. Then in the Iraq war he was only effective at the military war. Churchill and Roosevelt were great war leaders because they were able to conduct a military war and a propaganda war at the same time. A political leader's task in war is as an ideological leader. The generals cannot do this job.

As a result, Bush won the military war and lost the propaganda war. Those who hated the Iraq war were drawn to Obama. This is how Bush created Obama's success.

Bush is incapable of being an ideological leader. On September 12th he should have declared political Islam to be the enemy of all kafir civilization. In doing so, he would have only repeated what was in the Koran and the Sunna of Mohammed. Instead, his blindness made him create a logical impossibility-a war without an enemy.

Islam is the perfect war machine. It has both a military strategy, found in the Sira and the Hadith, and a brilliant war ideology. This perfect war machine has worked flawlessly for 1400 years and is working brilliantly today. November 4 th was a greater victory for political Islam than September 11th.

But no university teaches anything about Islamic war doctrine. West Point does not teach a single course on Islamic war doctrine or history. West Point's Middle East professors are as dhimmized as Harvard's professors (which is where West Point gets their teachers). Remember that Bush went to exclusive schools and received a good education. As a result he knows nothing about political Islam, any more than any of his classmates do.

Is it impossible to kill 1.5 billion Muslims? It is a military possibility, but kafirs do not have the political will for such a task. Besides, it is not necessary to kill Muslims. You just need to kill Mohammed. In short, we need to launch an ideological war to respond to Islam's jihad doctrine.

And what would an ideological war look like? How about open debate without the usual politically correct, multicultural narrow-mindedness? How about a leader, such as a congressman, being able to speak about Islam's jihad doctrine. (Of course, few of our so-called political leaders would ever speak against a potential voter. A notable exception to this is Sue Myrick of North Carolina who has formed an Anti-Terrorism Caucus.

An ideological war would include our schools, particularly state schools, teaching about the Koran and the Sunna. History courses that would include the Tears of Jihad, the killing of 270 million kafirs. Women's studies that would include Sharia law. Religion courses that would teach the death of Christianity in Turkey, the Middle East and Africa. Military history that would include the great battles of Islam. Courses on slavery that would go beyond the standard-issue West Africa/white man on wooden ships.

An ideological war would include a media that actually used critical reasoning and connected the dots in the Islamic violence that wracks the world with 12,221 attacks since September 11th in 39 countries.

So, we don't need to kill 1.5 billion Muslims, but we do need to kill Mohammed if we are not to go the way of Christianity in Turkey, which is now 99.7% Muslim. We will either fight an ideological war or die as a kafir civilization.

Bill Warner

We're Already At War With Iran, Or At Least, They Are At War With Us

Michael Ledeen wrote an excellent article, worth reading, in the latest Imprimis. Among other things, he wrote:
The simple facts regarding Iran are easy to understand. We are dealing with a regime that came to power in 1979, when the Iranian revolution overthrew the Shah. Immediately thereafter, Iran declared war against the United States, branding us “The Great Satan.” The Iranians have been at war against us for 30 years, and prior to 9/11 the Iranian regime was directly or indirectly responsible for the murder of more Americans than any other country or organization in the world.
Some people want to talk to Iran. Or negotiate or something. Ledeen has this to say about talking with Iran:
We have been talking to the Iranians, almost non-stop, for 30 years. There isn’t an American president from Jimmy Carter to the present who has not authorized negotiations with Iran. The classic case occurred during the Clinton administration. We ended all kinds of sanctions against Iran, let all kinds of Iranians into the U.S. for the first time since the 1970s, had sporting matches with the Iranians, hosted Iranian cultural events, and unfroze Iranian bank accounts. Then President Clinton and Secretary of State Albright started publicly apologizing to Iran for this and that. But when all was said and done, Ali Khamenei reminded everyone that Iran is in a state of war with the U.S., and that was the end of negotiations. This is what has happened every single time we have tried talking to or appeasing Iran.

Saudi Arabia to Lead U.N. Faith Forum

USS Neverdock points out something very important about the "Faith Forum" on religious tolerance which Saudi Arabia is leading:

Notice it says "LEAD".

"UNITED NATIONS, Nov. 11 -- Saudi Arabia, the oil-rich Islamic kingdom that forbids the public practice of other religious faiths, will preside Wednesday over a two-day U.N. conference on religious tolerance that will draw more than a dozen world leaders, including President Bush, Israeli President Shimon Peres and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The event is part of a personal initiative by Saudi King Abdullah to promote an interfaith dialogue among the world's major religions. The Saudi leader agreed for the first time to dine in the same room with the Israeli president at a private, pre-conference banquet Tuesday hosted by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. But Ban hinted that the two leaders -- whose governments do not have diplomatic relations -- were not seated at the same table. "

Notice too that these forums are never held in Saudi Arabia.

Pastorius comment: Yes, they can't hold such a forum in their country because, for one thing, they don't allow Jews in Saudi Arabia:

Saudi Arabia: No Jews need apply

Congressman Anthony Weiner has complained about the tourist visa policy of Saudi Arabia. Their policy is indeed illuminating, in the light of all the complaints about racial profiling at US airports. No Jewish people can get visas, and of course, no Israelis or people with an Israeli stamp in their passport can get tourist visas, at least not officially.

The policy was until very recently declared quite proudly at their Web site (this is the cached version):

Everyone who enters the Kingdom should have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity and the appropriate visa.

Unless you are a visitor from a GCC country or in transit, all other nationalities require a visa to enter the Kingdom.  Visas can be for business, tourist, transit, residency, family, Hajj, or conference attendance.

Visas can be obtained from the visa department in the Saudi Embassy of the visitor's home country or from Saudi Consulates available in all main cities around the world.

The cost of a visa is generally 200 Saudi Riyals however visitors should ensure that they check with the Saudi Embassy or Consulate.

Visas will not be issued for the following groups of people:

An Israeli passport holder or a passport that has an Israeli arrival/departure stamp.

Those who don't abide by the Saudi traditions concerning appearance and behaviors.  Those under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted into the Kingdom.

There are certain regulations for pilgrims and you should contact the consulate for more information.

Alan Keyes files suit against Obama in CA Superior Court

Alan Keyes was a candidate for the Presidency on the American Independent Party ticket in the state of California in the 2008 election. As such, one would think his suit would have to be treated seriously.

All we are saying is give birth certificates a chance.

If Obama is a citizen, which I believe he is, then he only has to prove it, for God's sake. What's so fucking difficult about that?

My personal opinion is, Obama is a citizen, and he is using this issue to make his adversaries look stuid. And, he's doing a good job of it.

But, such games do not a Democracy make. Our Democratic Republic is a nation of laws, and all people are subject to the law, even candidates for the President of the United States.

Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyes; Dr. Wiley S. Drake, Sr.; and Markham Robinson, Petitioners,

California Secretary of State Debra Bowen; Senator Barack Hussein Obama; Senator Joe Biden;

“No Person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President;” 63. Senator Barack H. Obama is a candidate for the Office of the President of the United States. However, to assume such office, Senator Obama must meet the qualifications specified for the Office of the President of the United States, which includes that he must be a “natural born” citizen. Senator Obama has failed to demonstrate that he is a “natural born” citizen. There are other legal challenges before various state and federal courts regarding aspects of lost or dual citizenship concerning Senator Obama. Those challenges, in and of themselves, demonstrate Petitioners’ argument that reasonable doubt exists as to the eligibility of the Democratic Party’s nominee for President.

Radical Chic Resurgent, Certainly Not Repentant

A Slate Magazine review, from August of 2001, of William Ayers' book Fugitive Days:

The astonishing luck of Bill Ayers, unrepentant former Weather Underground revolutionary, continues unabated. Today the state of New York refused to grant parole to Kathy Boudin, another Weather Underground radical, convicted 20 years ago of second degree murder for participating in a Brink's truck robbery in which two policemen and a security guard were killed. That's bad news for Boudin, who by all accounts has been a model prisoner. But it's great news for Ayers--who, with his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, jointly raised Boudin's son--because it's bound to help Ayers sell his new memoir, Fugitive Days.

Chatterbox isn't sure he's ever read a memoir quite so self-indulgent and morally clueless as Fugitive Days. (He's certainly never before read one festooned with glowing blurbs from respectable folk like Scott Turow--"a gripping personal account.") "Memory is a motherfucker," begins Ayers, establishing the book's literary tone and unreliability in one compact sentence. ThroughoutFugitive Days, Ayers reminds his readers that he's had to omit or change many facts throughout his narrative because they describe actions on his part that are, well, illegal.

In the turbulent early 1970s, Ayers helped set off bombs in two dozen places, including the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. Supposedly nobody was hurt--the Weatherpeople always issued agitprop-laden bomb threats in advance--though Chatterbox has never seen a scrupulous accounting. (Ayers never did jail time for the bombings because of prosecutorial misbehavior.) Ayers was also a leader of the Days of Rage, a vandalism spree in Chicago in which bystanders were assaulted, though Ayers neglects to mention that. To acquire false IDs needed to survive underground, Ayers does confess, "[w]e stole wallets and purses ... without much concern for our victims." Characteristically, though, Ayers dwells not on this latter point but on his foolishness for risking exposure:

[I]t was a risky business that could reel out of control without warning. We were trying to learn artfulness and stealth, and stealing purses was definitely from the old school. More important, these papers were unreliable, and had a short shelf life. As soon as they were reported missing, everything stopped working, and it could prove disastrous to buy a car, for example, or rent an apartment. ...

Ayers periodically expresses mild regret for his crimes, in tones reminiscent of a middle-aged insurance executive who wishes he hadn't gotten drunk quite so often at his college fraternity. "We took ourselves so seriously--OK, a little too seriously, we were too earnest by half and way too insistent," he writes at one point. "[F]rom the edges, we were entirely inflexible, maybe even a bit goofy." But in the process of describing such youthful indiscretions, Ayers invariably winds himself up into a self-exculpating frenzy. Here he is talking about the Pentagon bombing:

The operation cost just under $500, and no one was killed, or even hurt. In that same time the Pentagon spent tens of millions of dollars and dropped tens of thousands of pounds of explosives on Viet Nam, killing or wounding thousands of human beings, causing hundreds of millions of dollars of damage. Because nothing justified their actions in our calculus, nothing could contradict the merit of ours. ... I can't quite imagine putting a bomb in a building today--all of that seems so distinctly a part of then. But I can't imagine entirely dismissing the possibility, either.

In one truly flabbergasting moment, Ayers dares to compare Hugh Thompson, Lawrence Colburn, and Glen Andreotta--the heroic GIs who pointed their guns at fellow U.S. soldiers in order to halt the My Lai massacre--to his former girlfriend, Diana Oughton. Oughton was killed when explosives that she and other Weatherpeople were hoarding in a Greenwich Village townhouse unexpectedly detonated in 1970. They'd been planning to blow up Fort Dix.

Much of what Ayers self-interestedly leaves out of his book is more personally embarrassing than illegal. Ayers takes care not to dwell on his own Establishment credentials. (His father was chairman of the energy company Commonwealth Edison, a fact Ayers conveys only by writing, "My dad worked for Edison.")

Ayers omits any discussion of his famous 1970 statement, "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that's where it's really at."

He also omits any discussion of his wife Bernardine Dohrn's famous reaction to the Manson killings, as conveyed by journalist Peter Collier: "Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim's stomach! Wild!" (In a 1993 Chicago Magazineprofile, Dohrn claimed, implausibly, that she'd been trying to convey that "Americans love to read about violence.")

Nor does he address fellow radical Jane Alpert's charge that Ayers was "notorious for his callous treatment and abandonment of Diana Oughton before her death and for his generally fickle and high-handed treatment of women" (though Ayers does manage to get across the message, to those few who haven't heard it, that the late 1960s and early 1970s were a golden age for getting laid).

Hilariously, Ayers turns disapproving only when discussing radicals who lacked the good breeding and restraint of the Weather Underground:

[W]e hoped to use our celebrity in the lunatic left as well as the gathering Weathermyth in the larger world to persuade others to pull back. We knew where to find a few organized groups--the Red Family and the Proud Eagle Tribe, for example, the Motherfuckers and the White Panthers--and we held several secret summits where we had the traditional frank exchange of views and hammered out some kind of new formal understanding. Only once, in a dingy basement hideout near Houston, were guns drawn, but it was based on a misunderstanding--the crazies thought Jeff [Jones] had said, "We can turn you shits in in D.C." when he had actually said, "We can turn you into fish in the sea"--and we laughed about it later as we passed a joint.

Ayers is similarly dismissive of terrorists, a group to which he claims not to belong:

Terrorists terrorize, they kill innocent civilians, while we organized and agitated. Terrorists destroy randomly, while our actions bore, we hoped, the precise stamp of a cut diamond. Terrorists intimidate, while we aimed only to educate.

And, indeed, Ayers today is a distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Take it away, Dinesh D'Souza.

Italian Artist Sets Out To Get Herself Killed In A Muslim Land, And Succeeds

Performance Artist Killed on Peace Trip Is Mourned

Sirio Magnabosco

Pippa Bacca in Istanbul a few days before she was killed. Ms. Bacca and Silvia Moro were stressing the need for global harmony.

MILAN — The two friends, both performance artists, hatched the idea about a year ago: wearing white wedding dresses, they would hitchhike from Italy to the Balkans to the Middle East to send a message of peace and “marriage between different peoples and nations.”

But the message delivered by their performance piece was mostly sad and raw. After just three weeks on the road, one of the two Italian artists, Pippa Bacca, 33, was killed by a driver who offered her a ride.

Her naked body was found on April 11 in some bushes near a Turkish village after a suspect led investigators to the site. Although an official cause of death has not been given, local Turkish authorities said Ms. Bacca had been raped and strangled.

The killing has stirred broad public anger and grief in Turkey and Italy. Still, what Ms. Bacca would have wanted, her family and friends said, was her message of peace to live on.

“She thought that in the world there were more positive than negative people, and that it was right to be trusting,” said Rosalia Pasqualino, a sister of Ms. Bacca, whose real name was Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo. “Trust is a very human factor, and she believed that to understand people, you had to get to know them.”

The performance piece, a trip through nearly a dozen countries in the Balkans and the Middle East, many of them ravaged by war recently, was meant to underscore that “by overcoming differences and lowering the level of conflict,” individuals and cultures could come together, Ms. Moro said in a telephone interview. “Meeting people was the key.”

Ms. Bacca’s trip was cut short near the village of Gebze, about 40 miles southeast of Istanbul. An unemployed man, Murat Karatas, 38, has confessed to killing her shortly after picking her up on March 31, the authorities have said.

Accepting rides with strangers was crucial to the art performance’s success, Ms. Moro said. The artists’ statement at their Web site, bridesontour.fotoup.net, says, “Hitchhiking is choosing to have faith in other human beings, and man, like a small god, rewards those who have faith in him.”

Ms. Moro explained: “It’s a poor way of traveling, and we wanted to underscore that you can’t foster love between people if you’re holed up in business class. You can’t go to, say, Mauritius, and eat pasta. You won’t understand people until you break bread with them, because it’s in the small diversities that you find similarities.”

After reports of Ms. Bacca’s death circulated, Ms. Bacca’s family and Italian and Turkish government officials immediately emphasized that the killing had been a cruel act by a possibly deranged person and could have happened almost anywhere.

“Just read any newspaper — people get killed for playing music too loudly, and women get raped in the subway; there are fiends everywhere,” Ms. Pasqualino said. “This was not a question of Turkey or of religion.”

Of course not.

Interview With Rosine Ghawji

Do you know her name? Maybe, maybe not. If not, please read this and this for background.

On this edition of The Gathering Storm Radio Show on Blog Talk Radio, WC and I interviewed this brave lady, who unknowingly married and had two children with a man who, through his family and acquaintances, was involved in international terrorism.

I thought I was prepared to hear what she had to say. I wasn't. I kept having to turn off my mic so as to prevent my gasps from going out over the air.

If you're the type that likes to put a face to a voice, watch the following 2007 videos, both of which cover some, but not all, of the same material that WC and I discussed with Rosine on The Gathering Storm:

Remarks against Obama probed

Durham police conducting internal investigation; chief says it wasn't a slur

1984-movie-bb2_a.jpgDURHAM - Derogatory remarks toward President-elect Barack Obama made on a social networking Web site are now the subject of an internal police investigation.

A police department employee claims the statements were made on the MySpace pages of two Durham officers.

"There's no exact words that were said," said Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr. in a telephone interview Wednesday from San Diego, where he is attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. "It wasn't a racial slur, but we're still investigating it."

Investigators, who are focusing on the context of what was written, have been looking into the allegations since Thursday.

Lopez wouldn't disclose what was said or identify the officers involved.

It wasn't a slur, but we are investigating. It wasn't a threat, but we are investigating. It was DEROGATORY, so we are investigating.

Does Barack look in the mirror and see James Monroe?

Russian leader Medvedev heading to Cuba, Venezuela

MOSCOW - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev plans to travel this month to Cuba and Venezuela, which have increasing military and trade ties with Moscow.

The U.S. has objected to Russia's greater links with the two countries that have antagonistic relations with Washington.

Medvedev will visit Cuba on Nov. 27, the Kremlin press service said. He will also visit Brazil during the trip.

The Soviet Union was a stalwart supporter of Cuban leader Fidel Castro during the Cold War. Under Hugo Chavez, Venezuela has moved to buy millions of dollars in Russian weaponry and invited Russian energy giants to drill in the country's oil fields.

A Russian naval flotilla is on its way to the Caribbean to hold joint military exercises with Venezuelan forces.

Any money that he leaves with a big fat contract for TOR-M1's and the S-300 or S-400?

Anyone wonder what Barry would do if the Russians decide to move a battalion of Spetsnaz "instructors" to Venezuela for the new defensive weapons?

Anyone wonder if Barry is even THINKING about this?

Did William “Bomber” Ayers Call For Violence In His GMA Interview?

My answer? Yes, he did.

Underneath his calm, effeminate, almost matronly exterior, this man is foaming at the mouth to destroy America, and he does, indeed, call for violence in this very interview.

Now that Barack is the President-Elect, domestic terrorist William Ayers is stepping into the spotlight.

There are two very notable things Ayers says in this interview, one of which perfectly encapsulates the atrocious double standard that the Left grants itself. At 5:40 in the clip, the interviewer poses the following comparison.

Interviewer (Chris Cuomo): The analogy is that if John McCain had an association, if somebody had a coffee for him in his house to launch his political career, who was blowing up abortion clinics but never hurt anyone, you don’t think that would be relevant?

What follows is moral equivalency that has to be seen to be believed. He essentially says, “our violence was justified.”

While he justifies his terrorism as acceptable because the US government was “murdering 1000’s of people a day” in Vietnam, he doesn’t have much to say about the death rate after the American Left tucked tail and ran. I’m pretty sure that it went up a little.

I’m no fan of the Vietnam war (or any other for that matter), but he is being dishonest in his justification by leaving it completely out of context. My guess is that he sleeps at night either by having no conscience to speak of, or by telling himself that the US was to blame for the genocide that followed, not the Socialists we were fighting there . Perhaps a combination of the two?

The second notable and far more alarming comment comes at 6:12, when Bill “Bomber” Ayers reiterates that his movement didn’t do enough when they were manufacturing and detonating explosives in American cities back in the day, and that not enough has been done to stop today’s war against the Jihad Crusaders.

I think that can logically be interpreted as a call to violence. If Bomber doesn’t think he did enough when he was blowing stuff up, it leaves a pit in my stomach to hear him say he doesn’t think enough has been done to stop the war we are in today. If the anti-American Left begins detonating bombs again, this man should share the blame.

Here's the video. Watch it for yourself and tell me what you think.

Jim Baker and the "REALISTS" I lay this at your door, as well : Pelosi intends to significantly reduce the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program

When Robert Gates whose ideological scion is a no ideology except maybe the dollar, Jim Baker, replaced Donald Rumsfeld, he immediately moved to reduce the program to replace the 750 F-15 C's and D's with some 380 F-22's, dropping it to only 183 aircraft.

His flawed and now we can see irresponsible reasoning was that the mission of the F-22, air superiority could be filled with the many more but less individually capable F-35's we would acquire.

Now we have Nancy Pelosi telling the men and women who serve above, that they will have to take their chances with designed in the late 60's, and produced in the 70's and 80's F-15's and F-16's and F-18's which have NO STEALTH whatsoever, and which were shot down by Saddam's pitiful efforts in 1991, getting close to TWENTY YEARS AGO

Since the design and production of our F-15, 16 and F-18's, Russia has designed and sold the SU-27 and it's VSTOL derivative, the SU-30, and SU-34. They have placed some of these aircraft in the hands of the Venezuelans and the Iranians. The Chinese have developed the F-10 from the Israeli Lavi plans.

Since Gates decided essentially, we don't need F-22's to fight the Iraqi jihadis (the only major kind of war HE DECIDED WE WILL BE FIGHTING) we have a China moving 1000's of SLBM's opposite a Taiwan which produces what % of motherboards, CPU's, ASIC's, and GPU's in the world?
A China following our aircraft carriers every day with their new subs, a Russia planting their flag on the floor of the arctic to claim the resources beneath the ocean.

We have all these challenges. It's up to people like Pelosi to FIND A WAY, not tell our men and women they will have to just fly 35 year old fighters against new missiles, aircraft and radars if they wish to serve.

WASHINGTON -- Congressional sources said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi intends to significantly reduce the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program in 2009 as the U.S. military withdraws from Iraq.

The sources said Ms. Pelosi has concluded that cutting U.S. military procurement of JSF would save tens of billions of dollars required to save the nation's banking system.

"The Democratic leadership agrees that there is a clear need to reevaluate JSF as well as military requirements post-Iraq," a senior congressional source said.

The sources said Pelosi and other Democratic leaders in Congress believe that the $1 trillion JSF program could be significantly scaled down. They said the Democratic leadership also doubted the utility of the short-takeoff and vertical landing F-35B. The U.S. Marine Corps had been expected to operate about 340 F-35Bs.

"We have to be realistic," a congressional aide said. "Congress wants to pull troops out of Iraq and deal with the credit crisis. The place to cut is clearly from defense programs."

In July 2008, the Defense Department released $1 billion to acquire six F-35B STOVL aircraft as part of the second Low Rate Initial Production contract for JSF. The second LRIP contract, awarded in May, was set at $2.2 billion.

The sources said JSF has also been jeopardized by European Union states who plan to cut their defense budgets amid the global credit crunch. They said Britain, the leading partner in JSF, was re-evaluating procurement commitments, particularly that of the F-35B. Italy has also reviewed its requirements.

JSF manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, has been urging the U.S. military and international clients to submit orders for the F-35 over the next few months. One target has been Israel, who has formally requested up to 75 F-35s over the next decade.

"Israel is holding back on any order because it doesn't know whether Obama and Congress will commit to a continuation of current military aid levels," the congressional aide said.

Forget what Europe might do. These aircraft are already a second choice to ultimately protect our men on the ground in a war. That's what air superiority is REALLY FOR. The F-35 was never designed to be the ultimate air superiority weapon, and now the much fewer number of them will be more precious in a risky environment.

This EXACT situation HAS OCCURRED before

If Nancy Pelosi wants to say we are too poor to afford the best weapons systems for those who serve, LET HER SAY SO, and let's debate THAT judgement.

Netherlands: Fraud At 86% Of Islamic Schools

To any of our fellow Conservatives who think school vouchers are a good idea, get a load of this.

From NIS News:

THE HAGUE, 14/11/08 - Nearly nine out of 10 Islamic schools in the Netherlands spend government subsidies unlawfully. The education ministry confirmed yesterday following a report in De Telegraaf that 86 percent of the schools make fraudulent use of money.

De Telegraaf obtained a study by State Secretaries Sharon Dijksma and Marja van Bijsterveldt of Education of the 41 primary schools and two secondary schools that provide Islamic education. At half of the schools, the quality of the education is assessed as weak to very weak. At normal schools, this figure is 11 percent.

Additionally, financial mismanagement was established at 86 percent of Islamic school managements.

The illegal spending ranges from salaries to 'teachers' who turn out to be the wives of management board members, unlawful payments for transport that is never hired and even, as already made known earlier, trips to Saudi Arabia - the school (Ibn Ghaldoun in Rotterdam) bought plane tickets for Muslims who had nothing to do with the school whatsoever.

The Islamic education "gives ground for great concern," said Dijksma and Van Bijsterveldt yesterday. The education ministry is trying to claim back 4.5 million euros in unlawfully spent subsidies from the schools. This is an increase of 2.5 million from fraud figures previously known.

Due to the constitutional freedom of education - every religion can set up its own school at the expense of the government

the government sees little possibility of intervening.

No Islamic school has ever been closed.

Virtually nothing can be done against fraudulent school managers either.

Dijksma and Van Bijsterveldt hope that the Islamic schools themselves will introduce reforms. The weak and very weak Islamic schools will come under "intensive supervision" by the Education Inspectorate. And "if the position of the management board becomes insupportable, the ministry will push for the removal of the board," they write to the Lower House.

War's Over, We Won (No Thanks to Barack Obama)

From Little Green Footballs:

If Barack Obama had gotten his way, Iraq would now be in the hands of Islamists, and America’s image would have suffered a crushing blow. He voted to cut off funding for the troops, just when they needed it most, and still refuses to admit he was wrong.

Well, he was wrong, and George W. Bush deserves credit for refusing to back down when all around him were losing heart: “The war is over and we won.”

Michael Yon just phoned from Baghdad, and reports that things are much better than he had expected, and he had expected things to be good. “There’s nothing going on. I’m with the 10th Mountain Division, and about half of the guys I’m with haven’t fired their weapons on this tour and they’ve been here eight months. And the place we’re at, South Baghdad, used to be one of the worst places in Iraq. And now there’s nothing going on. I’ve been walking my feet off and haven’t seen anything. I’ve been asking Iraqis, ‘do you think the violence will kick up again,’ but even the Iraqi journalists are sounding optimistic now and they’re usually dour.”

History author warns Les Etats-Unix .. something wicked this way comes

Hat tip - ATLAS, from Pat Dollard's site on a post about the Obama MANDATORY National Service meme...
Look, there's a lot which we can say is paranoid, but there is nothing wrong with relentless vigilance either.

I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "we the people," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)-the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)

Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media-did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years-a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency-it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe-and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.
