They are WORSE than who we thought they were - Obama Ponders Outreach to Elements of the Taliban

SUNDAY's NYT (No less...watch the justifications and backpedaling):
WASHINGTON -- President Obama declared in an interview that the United States was not winning the war in Afghanistan and opened the door to a reconciliation process in which the American military would reach out to moderate elements of the Taliban, much as it did with Sunni militias in Iraq.
Sorry but the Sunnis in Iraq did not attack NY and Washington. Ideas of 'more moderate elements' of the Taliban are those who won't BLOW UP ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS FOR GIRLS? We suppose?

Is there to be any hope for this president?

Ther is no hope for this President. I've been reading comments the last week or so in the nature of "The Taliban didn't attack us" "They're just clerics and what the people there want" and so on. Wish I could remember where I saw that kind of crap. Almost the press softening us up for this.

Epa I just read the caption on your picture. Perfect, especially if Craig is reading this.

Epaminondas,

If this is true, Obama is worse than I thought he would be. If he is, lets make it sure it costs him the election. This will tick a lot of people off.

I'm slow on the uptake. I don't understand the caption on the photo. Could someone explain it to me?

By the way, Sunnis are merely a branch of Islam, as the Methodists are a branch of Christianity. The Taliban is a virulent political party in the tradition of Islamic Nazism. There is no comparison between reaching out to Sunnis in Iraq, and reaching out to a political party which has thoroughly discredited itself (to say the least).

Pasto -- Epa's caption is refering to Craig's comment a day or so again who admonished us that it seems we just hate liberals there's a new regime it happens every few years and we should jsut get over it.

You and I & Epa were not nice to him after that ;>)

revereridesagain,

NOPE? You don't think this will make a lot of people angry? Already I've heard about a few stories about some people who supported Obama and now wish they had not, and they were for reasons other than this. You don't think this will upset anyone? You don't think this will turn a single person who supported him against him?

Damien,
Yes, I do think it will turn some people against him. However, it also seems to me many people in the USA have gone back to sleep since 9/11.

MR,
Yes, I remember that now. Thanks.

I tend to try to let that stuff roll off me these days. I used to get angry and stew, but it wasn't good for my health.

You know how I said I feel in the Leviticus post? That's pretty much how I feel about guys like Craig.

Damien -- I think RRA was answering Epa's is there any hope for this president question. Though I could be wrong.

midnight rider,

Well maybe she was, but since her comment came right after mine, I just assumed she was addressing me.
