Thanks for encouraging me. I wish I'd kept my big mouth shut instead of criticising Pastorius' choice of hunks. Those outspoken infidels I've found are either old, ugly or women or all of that.
The fact that I am getting old myself doesn't help. My perception of a "hunk" is simply different from that of younger people. For example, I noticed in a different context how our perception of what is an attractive male has changed when I googled for Jim Hutton and found out that he is the father of Timothy Hutton. Jim (to me terrifically attractive) would look totally incongruous nowadays, whereas I find Timothy as attractive as a sack of oats. Being "polished" or at least washed and combed doesn't seem to have any attraction anymore.
Let's get this clear because I'm no homo (not that there's anything wrong with that :); I never chose any hunk of the week. The hunks who have been posted have been suggested by female readers.
We have never had a consistent hunk of the week, because there has never been a female blogger here who is willing to take up the cause.
I just don't think women care that much about such topics.
Obviously, men do.

Female sexuality is much less visual than male. If I remember correctly from bygone days, a woman may be easily attracted by a voice, a smell and a lot of other things. Visual impressions are not so important. A homely man can quickly turn into a virtual hunk and a real hunk as quickly into a bore. When I discovered the Internet more than ten years ago, I thought that the less vulgar gay websites might offer some eye candy. It wasn't so.
I don't think that I am alone in this.
Well, somebody chooses them and I'm the the guy that has to put them in the sidebar!
