Gosh, I just don't know how I should feel about this recent development. Perhaps some more information would help. Anyone out there know if these apples are the moderate variety, or the semi-moderate variety, or the much more maligned, and deservedly so, quasi-extremist semi-moderate variety?

It's a rainbow war and there are so many colorful pedophile worshipers to choose from.

So we should occupy "Nuristan" (or whatever the local savages call that Islamic shithole) forever? Is that what you're saying, Pasto?

I've got a better idea: Americans out of the Islamic world, Muslims out of America.

Nuristan is on the border of Pakistan.

We need to stay in Afghanistan, not because we are going to fix Afghanistan, but because we need a base from which to make sure the Taliban does not take control of Pakistan's nukes.

The Taliban already controls 2/3 of Pakistan. If you want proof, let me know, and I include links.

By that logic, then we MUST stay in Afghanistan forever, because Islamists/Taliban will always be a threat to take over Pakistan.

Pakistan is a direct threat to India, not to us, so let the Talibs take over Pakistan and then encourage India to invade, conquer and annex Pakistan, ridding the world of that worthless Islamic state once and for all.

Jeppo,
Nuclear weapons in the hands of a group like the Taliban are a threat to all Infidel nations.

EMP explosions could easily destroy all electronics in the UK. A few could destroy all electronic communications in the USA.

All that has to be done to create an EMP effect in either country is to either fly nukes in on a passenger jet, or launch them via missile on a cargo ship off the coast.

Both would be relatively easy to do.

Are you not aware of this threat?

Additionally, if the Taliban were able to smuggle nukes into the USA, they would be able to take out multiple cities, if that were their plan.

Is that not a threat?

Sure it's a threat, but the Taliban could take over Pakistan tomorrow and the troops in Afghanistan couldn't do a damn thing about it.

Yes they could react after the fact, but they don't have to be in Afstan to do so.

Your reasoning is that our troops must remain in Afstan PERMANENTLY to stave off any theoretical threat to Pakistan from Taliban/Islamists.

I say that is pure insanity. Even if it was a good idea to permanently garrison 150,000+ NATO troops in Afstan, which it absolutely isn't, public opinion simply wouldn't stand for it in the long run. In fact public opinion is solidly against the occupation right now throughout the West.

The Afstan war was won in November 2001 when the terrorist camps were destroyed and the Taliban government was overthrown. By aiming for permanent occupation for specious reasons, we are snatching defeat from the jaws of what was in fact a great military victory.

Jeppo,
We've had troops on the border of North Viet Nam for 50 years, you have never voiced an objection to that. We had troops stationed in Germany for 60 years, you didn't object to that.

Speak now, or forever hold you peace.

Did you object to our stationing troops in Germany during the Cold War?
