CNBC Analyst Says Obama is “Once Again Creating His Own Sense of Legal System”

From Weasel Zippers:

The analyst pointed out that “once again,” President Obama has “created his own sense of legal system. He fired the CEO of General Motors. He circumvented the rights of bondholders in the GM situation, and now he’s confiscated $20 Billion from a private company to set up “a financial and legal framework that already exists. It’s not his job to create laws, it’s his job to enforce laws."

In this respect Joe Barton is right
What Obama did yesterday to BP was tantamount to a thuggish shakedown.

BP is not excused cuplability by any means BUT this is closing on the equivalent of Rosie O'Shithead's demand that Obama seize their assets.

He is doing it because he has every reason to think he can get away with it.

Limitations put on relatively low-risk forms of drilling had the effect of pushing oil companies to increase risks to the point where one of them -- BP -- hit their level of incompetence in spectacular fashion. All Obama and the Left had to do was sit back and wait for it to happen. He is betting that enough Americans are stupid enough to put getting revenge on BP for the oily birds and oyster beds and beaches -- and ignorant enough to have NO idea what role government played in this -- to cheer on Zero while he effectively nationalizes the oil industry. Because they will not see the result at the gas pump TOMORROW, which is about as far as their attention span reaches.

Too many can't even think in principles in order to save their own futures anymore. It's all raw emotion. So, as noted in the post below, 71% say the government response to the oil leak is going to be important to how they vote in November. Let's hope reality will have caught up with them by then.
