Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee considers "Christian militants" a threat to US Govt

(She cited during a hearing of Islamic radicalization in prisons) the proverbial case of the man who blew up an abortion clinic and proposed that this was an attempt by Christians to undermine U.S. law that allows a woman to get an abortion. Then she went on to intimate that Christians opposing the current abortion laws were tantamount to trying to overturn the government.

Claudia,

Abortion clinic bombings seem to be pretty rare, about one every year or so at absolute most. Also, simply trying to change the law when it comes to abortion is not tantamount to trying to change Americas entire system of government, regardless of how one feels about the issue.

Yep, that was exactly my reasoning at my blog. Besides, it is curious that she considers that only Christians are pro-life, when there are other religious groups and non-religious people who are also pro-life.

Claudia,

She would probably be both stunned and horrified by this,

Atheist and Agnostic Pro-Life League

Not to mention what the original Hippocratic Oath said, that was written long before Christianity even existed.

I WILL FOLLOW that method of treatment which, according to my
ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and
abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous. I will give no
deadly medicine to anyone if asked, nor suggest any such counsel;
furthermore, I will not give to a woman an instrument to produce
abortion.

Sorry,

The link to that PDF file for that quote from Hippocrates does work, so here another one for a different source for the same quote. Scroll down a bit and you should find it.
