SkyNews: US Turns To Web Crowdsourcing To Fight Ebola
The United States has issued an urgent plea for internet crowdsourcing to fight the deadly Ebola outbreak, Sky News has learned.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) wants radically new anti-contamination suit designs, to stop health workers and airport screeners suffering from heat stress.
USAID said it wants "crowdsourcing, competition and breakthrough innovation" to fight the West African epidemic and any "future outbreaks".
Each successful design accepted by the agency is capable of being awarded $1m (£622,000), ahead of any production run.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) - East Asia, with its trade and transport hubs and armies of migrant workers, is at risk from Ebola but is improving its defenses and may be more ready than other areas to respond if cases are diagnosed, World Health Organization officials said Friday.
Li Ailan, director of health security and emergencies at the WHO regional office, said two candidate Ebola vaccines under development in the U.S. and United Kingdom are now in the human clinical trial phase and a vaccine may be ready on a limited scale by January. Health care workers and those who handle dead bodies of Ebola victims are being recommended as the priority recipients.

Fox Oklahoma City: Officials: patient at Deaconess Hospital evaluated, does not have Ebola
Just a side note:
We all assume Duncan became infected with Ebola upon exposure to the pregnant teen Ebola victim on September 15, 2014.
Eleven days later, Duncan experienced initial symptoms on Sept. 24 and sought medical intervention on the 26th and by the 28th he was vomitting.
He bacame aware of first symptoms on day 9, sought help on days 11 and by day 13 he was hospitalized having severe vomit/diarhea symptoms.
Those closest to Duncan during days 9-13 would now be entering
day 16 since Duncan's first signs of illness, day
day 14 since Duncan's first hospital visit
day 12 since Duncan's actual hospitalization
So far, it appears that none of Duncan's direct contacts have any symptoms.
The Frisco deputy was the only close call thus far.

Troh did not think Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital should have released Thomas Duncan from the emergency room on Sept. 26.
According to Lloyd, hospital staff told the family that they did not have the consent to treat Duncan for his initial fever.
“The family members were right there – how could you not have consent to treat him?” [Saymendy Lloyd, a friend of Louise] Troh asked.
She also said the staff made the decision to put Duncan on dialysis without the family’s consent, but delayed in giving him the experimental drug Brincidofivir because of lack of consent.
In a statement on Thursday, Texas Health Presbyterian officials said that doctors treated Duncan with Brincidofovir after consulting with experts, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration.

Seems that just two weeks ago the death toll was about half of what it is now. At that rate it will hit 250,000 in three months time by which time the population will be so desperate to get out that they will sneak into the West come hell or high water. Just wait for it to spread to Nigeria, if that happens give it a years or two to die out and then you can start colonizing a virgin continent.
