Ideology Maintained Against the Facts Becomes THEOLOGY - FREE TRADE

I will say this again in case new readers are coming here from twitter-

Free Trade as a part of Conservative Ideology has failed in the real world

All we have achieved is the export of jobs, careers, manufacturing, engineering R&D overseas to the lowest labor and tax costs and now those who used to come here for education and expertise are going ELSEWHERE.

We can lament all we want about the effects of Smoot Hawley once upon a time, but while the conservative ideologues (and no one can call me a ‘progressive’) insist on free trade, we are now buying foreign digital components for our military not because they are cheap, but because WE DON’T HAVE THE MANU FACILITIES.

Trying to stamp one’s feet and insist on the import of all this engenders a reaction which is like falling in to a vat of lukewarm oatmeal and then trying to swim while silently screaming
We should insist that FREE TRADE means among those with SIMILAR WORKING CONDITIONS, and then ALSO set the CIA to ensure that overseas workers take their lives in to their own hands.

When Bernie and Trump agree IT SIGNIFIES.

Next chapter(s) in FREE TRADE (CNN and Breitbart):

Carrier Air Conditioning (with HUGE older manu in Syracuse NY) ..a division now of United Technologies.

Carrier workers’ rage over move to Mexico caught on video

Workers at the Carrier manufacturing plant in Indianapolis were caught on video booing and jeering after being told that the plant would be relocated to Monterey, Mexico.
A YouTube video showed Chris Nelson, the company’s president, delivering the news on Wednesday. The plant employs roughly 1,400 people.
Nelson said it was “strictly a business decision” that was made in order to “stay competitive and protect the business for the long term.”
At one point, the crowd became so boisterous that Nelson was forced to plead with the workers to get them to listen.
“I’ve got information that’s important to share as part of the transition,” Nelson can be heard saying.
Sure, severance.

Nor is this the only one this week.

Ford Shifting Future Auto Production To Mexico As Obama Signs Pacific Trade Deal

Just as President Barack Obama’s deputy signed the unpopular Trans Pacific Partnership free-trade deal during an election year, Ford Motor Company has announced it will doubling production capacity at a Mexico factory, instead of enlarging U.S. factories.
The new factory will manufacture hybrid autos with gasoline and electric engines, whose development has been partly funded by U.S. taxpayers via federal research programs.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Ford is planning to build 500,000 vehicles at its new Mexican factory, starting in 2018. That is double Mexico’s 2015 production.
Ford has begun to build a new factory in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to assemble several models including, a new model meant to rival Toyota’s Prius hybrid vehicle. In turn, U.S.-based plants will focus on light trucks and sport-utility vehicles.
Insiders say Ford will spend $1 billion to build the expansion factory in Mexico. That’s in addition to the $2.5 billion already earmarked for expansion in the neighboring nation.
If Trump had not blatted in a way that singled out a religion, and instead sought to achieve what we all know he wanted (improved security for the people) voting for him would be compulsory just on this issue.

And if you are a progressive, then you MUST vote for Bernie on this basis.

Want your kids to have CHALLENGING CAREERS instead of selling insurance to each other until they can’t stand it?

It’s the economy which builds the disposable income of the middle class, raising the ocean level, which then allows govt revenue to build the military

THIS IS THIRD GRADE STUFF

Which candidates for POTUS oppose Free Trade?

Of those left - Cruz, Trump, Bernie

The key issue is how they voted on, or supported TAA/TPP.

TPP was so obv going to kill more US jobs and careers, the D's insisted on a package which would support for 1-2 years those displaced professionally, the TAA - then they could vote for the bill which would INCREASE PROFIT MARGINS for large manufacturers and banks that lend to them (and their baords and very top management) as they build facilities overseas (Carrier and Ford anyone?), who DONATE to the campaigns(?), while the R's trumpet Free trade ideologically, and the D's trumpet their support for those who might lose their jobs.

SICKENING

absolutely sickening

America neither believes nor practices free trade and the best examples are the softwood lumber and sugar issues. THe Americans appear to be a bunch of mindless stupid sheep, they are quite happy to pay double the world prices for locally produced sugar, they also seem quite happy with the idea of limiting internal production and importsust to keep some Cuban billionaires happy.
