Hey, RedState, National Review, Charlie, Hayes, Jonah and the rest…

image
Having read the LATEST jump in fear, warning and shrieking over Trump in the last 24 hours, we have arrived at the  moment of counterproductive fascist/authoritarian caveats (including an oh so touching crie de coeur from WaPo editors)

Your argument is not with Trump, it’s with the R’s that did not AT LEAST find the IRS in contempt (SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES com to mind), raising the suspicion the ‘conservatives’ wanted the IRS alive, pour encourager les autres when THEY held the reins.

Your argument is not with Trump, it’s with the results of free trade which PURE conservatives since the 80’s have FAILED to address. BTW, where did all the margin gain go?

Your argument is not with Trump, it’s with a legislative branch so LAZY they turned over THEIR authority LONG AGO to the EPA, BLM, CMS, etc and these people can now SELF-EXTEND their authority. Some of them have their own armed forces to ensure compliance while they do so..

Your argument is not with Trump it’s with a media which has left the IDEA of reporting and arrived at the perpetual commentariat.

Your argument is not with Trump but with an ELECTORATE which put forth a man who believed we need to be liked and tried to do as little as possible.

Your argument is not with Trump but with many govts of a GENERATION that EUCHRED the public over illegal immigration for obvious commercial reasons, until the truth could not be hidden. Not to mention the border is also a national security issue

Your argument is not with Trump but with govt which said 'we can’t really stop this’, and then hit a man who said, ‘NO, WE CAN’

Your argument is not with Trump but with a govt which cannot even RECOGNIZE substantial threats to the safety of the people, and a commentariat which largely will back him in DENIAL

Your argument is not with Trump but with a govt which both cannot control their budget, and cannot find a way to allow the economy to grow outside of part time job growth at crispy creme.

Your argument is not with Trump but with a govt which inculcates the idea of division into the public BEGINNING with voter intimidation in 2008, making its RECOGNITION now in many spheres, by a candidate, in plain English, SPOTLIGHTING THIS, upsetting?

And so we arrive at the man who threatens suit over unfavorable press, the man whose eminent domain ideas frighten grandmothers everywhere, the man who SCARES YOU into continuing all those processes listed above while YOU destroy the Republican party?

You will have to bear this.

Congress and the press will CHEERILY hold him in check, after all, he will be deemed of NO PARTY, and people will resign from the IRS to work for an Open Society welcoming them with glee before they sully themselves with his directives.

I have no idea if he will increase the number of voters and defeat that shrieking harridan, (something Cruz CANNOT DO). I have no idea if this will be a repeat of 1964.

I do ,however, believe we cannot go on like this.

If you choose to have MORE OF THIS that’s your business.

But just as staying out of Syria has led to a series of problems FAR WORSE THAN ANY IMAGINED, what on earth makes you think MORE OF THIS is not worse than 4 years of HIM?
There are LOT, a HUGE MASS, of folks who are not out there wearing white sheets, and practicing our Hitlergruß in the basement waiting for the moment HE arrives.

I am not happy we are STUCK with this situation. I am not certain I will vote for Trump or write in BOKONON, but I am certain what we have cannot go on, and millions and millions of others are READY TO TAKE A CHANCE.

That’s not Trump’s fault.

If what we see from ‘conservatives’ continues and Trump gets creamed, and we get 4 more years of ALL THIS, we will hold YOU responsible, the GOP will be a husk, and all of YOU will be trying to look as progressive as possible on your resumes to the Center for American Progress.

I don't see these "conservatives" (neocons most especially) backing off. They seem to believe that they are on the moral high road, which specifically includes "saving the Party of Lincoln and Reagan."

The Party leaders threw that Party on the rubbish heap almost as soon as Reagan left office.

Conservatives pin hopes on convention fight to stop Donald Trump -- and get a load of that last sentence in bold font (my emphasis):

(CNN)Prominent conservatives led by Erick Erickson on Thursday [March 17, 2016] called for a unity ticket and a convention fight to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump, a sign of the growing desperation in the party establishment to find an alternative to the billionaire businessman.

"If that unity ticket is unable to get 1,237 delegates prior to the convention, we recognize that it took Abraham Lincoln three ballots at the Republican convention in 1860 to become the party's nominee and if it is good enough for Lincoln, that process should be good enough for all the candidates without threats of riots," Erickson wrote in a statement after conservatives gathered in Washington to discuss ways to thwart Trump's march to the nomination.

The long and contentious meeting at the Army Navy Club included discussion about a unity ticket involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, according to a source familiar with the conversation. But the group decided not to commit to that pairing "because of the egos involved," according to the source.

[...]

The group left the door open to potentially supporting a third party race if Republicans are unable to stop Trump.

"We intend to keep our options open as to other avenues to oppose Donald Trump," the statement said. "Our multiple decades of work in the conservative movement for free markets, limited government, national defense, religious liberty, life, and marriage are about ideas, not necessarily parties."...

Yep, they're up on their moral high horses.

War Cry of a Free People... is what you posted.

To the GOP:

You cannot save what you have already lost.

You cannot lead if nobody follows.

You may continue your street fight.

But this time you are going to lose.

EXCELLENT AoW:
"Our multiple decades of work in the conservative movement for free markets, limited government, national defense, religious liberty, life, and marriage are about ideas, not necessarily parties."...

Free markets have ruined our economy by enriching large corps at the people's expense

Defense is now hollowed out as we buy AESA circuit boards for our defences from the lowest cost labor sources

Religious liberty is NOT INCREASED

And Gay marriage is l egal (not that I care, but you say YOU do, assholes)

So you have FAILED THE NATION on every item you deem significant.

So long and thanks for all the fish

Amazing essay.

HISTORIC.

Very-well stated. I have been saying much the same, but you've said it much better.

The GOP hoodwinked us, they've betrayed conservative principles, and now they cry that the Republican Mansion is on fire...

All I can say in response is, bring gasoline!

SF,
"Hoodwinked" is the perfect word!
